Like mother, like daughter!

Padma Lakshmi says her daughter Krishna Thea, 4, has learned to be a healthy eater — most of the time.

“Well, she’s forcibly one. But she loves to eat healthy,” the Top Chef star told PEOPLE at the Endometriosis Foundation of America‘s 6th Annual Blossom Ball.

“She also loves her candy and chocolate — she doesn’t get to have it much.”

The Bravo star has also found a kitchen helper in Krishna.

“We cook every night,” she says. “We usually do a fresh meal for dinner, and then we usually have leftovers for lunch the next day.”

As for Krishna’s favorite dish? It may be the same as when she was little, but now she can help cook!

“She loves a lentil porridge that is basically just rice and lentils and lots of vegetables called khichdi. It’s really comfort food,” Lakshmi says.

When they’re not in the kitchen together, Krishna likes to lend a hand when Mom gets glammed up. “She does not help with makeup, no,” Lakshmi says, laughing.

“But she definitely likes pink, and she likes sparkling dresses and keeps checking with me and making sure she gets to wear all my dresses and shoes when she grows up.”

Krishna was actually a surprise for Lakshmi, who battled endometriosis for years before cofounding EFA in 2009.

“I was told I couldn’t have children,” she says. “I started the foundation two months before I got pregnant, and I think it was somehow maybe that good karma came back to me.”

The little girl sees her dad. It’s Michael Dell”s (founder of Dell) brother (Adam Dell). They were in a heated child custody battle for years and they now share custody.

Thanks for the info Heh1978, I had been wondering about that. I looked up Michael Dell and Padma Lakshmi and apparently along with the custody battle (and battle for last name) Padma also told him that she’d hoped her other boyfriend, Teddy Forstmann (super rich) was the father. Apparently Teddy was under the impression that the kid was his so he left her a trust fund (he died). Jees, for whatever reason I thought Padma was one of those celebs who had her head straight but between not knowing who the father of her child is, keeping the kid from the actual father, convincing another one that he is the father, and being really nasty about visitation and naming rights I don’t really see her in a positive light anymore.

Like she has a choice with an uber controlling mother. Thankfully she came to her senses and realized the father was more than a sperm donor and had rights.

Most kids eat like their parents – it natural and what you do. I mean most 4 year olds aren’t driving themselves to the grocery store or McDonalds. I have two kids, both raised the same at dinner time and I have one super healthy eater and one who would do anything but eat something green, now that they are in their mid-teens. They are active and healthy so I think they got the basics but it’s now up to them in my opinion besides having a good diversity of foods available in the home.

Man, this lady sounds so pretentious! Bleh. Plus, what a snooze-fest of an article. Why am I here again??? Haha.

Her child will look anorexic like her, not looking healthy.
