Beverley Mitchell: My Daughter Has Better Dance Moves Than Me

02/12/2014 at 02:00 PM ET

Beverley Mitchell leaves the dance performances up to her mini-me, her daughter, Kenzie Lynne.

“[Kenzie] loves to dance. So whenever you put music on she does this little booty shake and just gets so excited. It melts my heart every time,” the actress told PEOPLE Tuesday at the Operation Shower and Birdies for the Brave group baby shower for military moms-to-be.

“She just loves music. She loves to play the tambourine and she’ll dance to it,” shares Mitchell of her 10-month-old while at the event, which was sponsored by Carousel Designs and took place during the PGA Tour’s 2014 Northern Trust Open.

She adds, “She is more musical and she’s already got better moves than I do. For sure, she’s a better dancer.”

Mitchell, 33, says an even bigger milestone is watching her daughter cruise around the house. “She has mastered the crawl and now she can actually stand up and she can walk holding onto things, but she’s definitely mobile. It’s crazy,” she shares.

The former 7th Heaven star admits her real estate investor husband, Michael Cameron, is a very doting dad. “We’re definitely a team. It takes both of us. We do everything together and he is so hands-on,” she explains. “I couldn’t do it without him. It’s amazing.”

The couple even take turns cuddling with their baby girl. “It’s priceless. Being able to see them interact, I’ve fallen so madly in love with him all over again, watching him with Kenzie,” adds Mitchell with a smile.

And with their daughter celebrating her first birthday in March, Mitchell jokes she should start planning soon.

“I actually should probably get on that. Apparently, I need a theme. We’ll definitely do something small with family and friends, but I have no idea what it is,” she says.

As for a possible sibling for Kenzie? “We definitely want to have more.¬†We’re very much enjoying Kenzie right now, but in the future though, definitely,” she explains. “I think we would be happy [with a boy or a girl], just obviously a healthy baby.”

Why is this important?

Ridiculous on

Why are you taking time out of your life to comment on it if you don’t care, Lauren? Here’s a newsflash for you: People magazine doesn’t write articles on only the people/topics that interest you! While you may not care about this particular story, others out there do. You think far too highly of yourself. If you don’t care about it, don’t read it. Its as simple as that.

Ridiculous…did someone piss you if this morning??Your overly long, hateful comment makes you sound like an idiot.

Melisa on

Nunya I think your comment makes YOU look like the idiot. I get sick to death of every single story followed by a nit wit saying “who?”….when the story CLEARLY detailed who she is. Everyone has the option to read or not read a story.

I like this girl, she is very well spoken. It would be nice to see her on the screen again.

I always loved her as Lucy on Seventh Heaven. This is a very sweet story. I’m happy to read how happy she is with both her husband and Kenzie.

Another Mom who thinks she’s the first one that has ever had a baby…

I think what she’s saying is very true! While I don’t have children myself, all my friends that do say watching their husbands build such a close and strong bond with their children makes them only love them more! She sounds so happy. Congrats!

Blah blah blah.

Why do people like Lauren and Christine bother to post their ridiculous comments??? If you don’t like the story then don’t read it. We are a society of self entitled jerks who think everything should cater to us and if it doesn’t we are going to hide behind our computers and tear someone else down. People suck
