DeAnna Pappas Stagliano is basking in all the sugar, spice and everything nice that comes along with a baby girl!
The former Bachelorette, who is expecting her first child with husband Stephen in early February, celebrated her baby shower with family and friends on Sunday with a pink-themed soiree hosted by Good Carma Studio.
“The shower was amazing! It was so beautiful and such a welcoming party for our little girl,” Stagliano, 32, tells PEOPLE.
For the baby bash, Pappas Stagliano was determined to show off her budding baby belly — and accomplished just that in a beautiful royal blue dress from A Pea in the Pod.
“It is maternity, but I didn’t feel like a big ol’ pregnant woman in it! I felt beautiful and like a proud mom-to-be in this dress,” she says. “I have only gained 26 pounds so far so I wanted a dress that accentuated my bump, but also still made me feel normal.”
In between noshing on sweet treats from a colorful candy station and decadent cupcakes from Polkatots, guests were treated to a “divine” lunch from Paleta. Everyone was pampered with massages courtesy Manly Handz and went home with goodie bags filled with party favors, including Mabel’s Labels, which the couple hope to use for their daughter, and Gabriel Cosmetic‘s organic non-toxic nail polish.
“I was so happy that everyone got spoiled at my shower!” the mom-to-be, who was presented with a gift card to POSH Mommy, tells PEOPLE.
Pappas Stagliano chatted with PEOPLE following the fête to discuss how she’s preparing (or trying to!) for the pending arrival of her daughter.
PEOPLE: How are you preparing for baby girl’s arrival?
DeAnna: By trying to sleep A LOT!! Stephen and I are just trying to make sure we have the necessities, bottles, clothes, diapers, a bed — you know, the big stuff.
We keep hearing that the first three months are the hardest and all she’ll do is eat, sleep, poop, and pee. So as long as I can breastfeed and she’s got some diapers, I think we’ll be just fine!
PEOPLE: Are there any items you still need to buy?
DeAnna: I have lots I still need to buy! (laughs) Is a mom and dad ever fully prepared?!
I think we will need endless amount of diapers and wipes. And we need some small things like a diaper pail and some car/travel necessities. And clothes. I’ve desperately tried to refrain from buying tons of baby clothes because most moms have told me they barely used half of what they had. I’m a simple lady – less is more.
PEOPLE: Is the nursery all done? If so, have you selected a theme?
DeAnna: The nursery is almost complete! We are just waiting on our recliner to arrive … hopefully before the baby does! We don’t necessarily have a theme, but mostly a color scheme which was so easy to choose with the help of Carousel Designs. They had the perfect bedding to match the colors that Stephen and I had in mind.
We’ve kept it all a surprise so far because we would love a few things to be a surprise for our baby girl once she gets here. I will say, it is ADORABLE though. Think patterns instead of theme!
PEOPLE: Have you picked out a name yet?
DeAnna: We have … we’ve actually had it picked for a very long time. We’ve just decided to keep that between us until our baby girl arrives. We’re so forthright with so much in our lives that we wanted to leave a few details for just us and our family to enjoy for the time being.
