They’re newlyweds and newly expecting.

Justin Bartha and wife Lia Smith are set to welcome a baby later this year, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The couple tied the knot Saturday on Oahu in Smith’s native Hawaii.

Reese Witherspoon and her husband, agent Jim Toth, Jesse Eisenberg and Ken Jeong were among the guests who enjoyed a reception at Kualoa Ranch following the ceremony.

The Hangover and New Normal star, 35, had popped the question to the fitness trainer last May.

The coming addition will be the first child for each.

A rep for Bartha hasn’t commented on the couple’s happy news.

WOW, some of these couples sure are not wasting any time! At least they got married before the baby came. They look happy. Still can’t believe he dated one of the Olsen twins!

Huh? on

Yea I kinda thought so when I saw her wedding pic. She looked like it.

Double congrats to the happy couple!!

Congrats on marriage and new baby! People should be married first then have a baby anytime

Chasmaniandevil on

Yeah…cuz that marriage certificate really means that the baby will be better off!!

People can get married after knowing eachother for days and people can be together for years without getting married, you’re telling me you want the ones with the certificate to have the baby over the ones who have been together for years??? Seems kind of ridiculous don’t ya think?

Jenna on

Wow. Being married has zero to do with raising a happy child. So judge mental.

Hey on

What’s a wedding nowadays without a bride with a child or at least pregnant. Aw society.

Leigh on

Actually, research indicates that the physical and psychological health of the partners is better if they are married (as opposed to cohabiting). Seems like two people who are healthier psychologically would be a better way to raise other humans. That isn’t judgment–it’s just a scientific fact.

Stephanie on

. Marital status means nothing, if you are a terrible excuse for a human being. Get your priorities straight. When it comes to having kids, it matters more if people are decent, than whether or not they are married.

Jen on

Leigh- Let me guess, you got your scientific research data from Fox News?

Rena- Pretty sure they didn’t choose their path in life so you could be personally thankful for their choices.

Congratulations to them!

Leigh on

Nope, Jen! Actually, I am a psychology professor, which I’m pretty sure makes me “liberal!” I’m just reporting what the scientific literature says.

Of course, I’m completely happy for them; I am happy for their child too, though, because of what the research indicates.

Congrats! Love his character in the National Treasure franchise!

congrats to this couple, even though i don’t know who this actor is!

It’s refreshing to see a celebrity couple that got engaged before getting pregnant, instead of announcing the engagement & pregnancy together, which is what so often happens in Hollywood. For a change, it doesn’t seem like they got engaged just because she was expecting. I hope Lia has a healthy pregnancy and that they both have a healthy baby.

Hi Leigh,
As a fellow psychology professor, do you have any citations available for the studies you mention? I would like to include this info in my Intro Psych class. Of course I could do a lit search, but it would be great to have some citations right now if you have them handy. Thanks!

Ashley- I agree. This definitely seems to be more of a “we’re going to get married soon and we want kids, so why wait until after the wedding to start trying?” situation. :)

Olive on

Catherine, what do you care about getting married before the baby is born? Those so-called ‘morals’ only restrain people. Let them do whatever they want, their lifestyle doesn’t affect yours.
