Ioan Gruffudd Alice Evans Welcome Daughter Elsie Marigold Sara De Boer/Startraks

Turns out Friday the 13th was a lucky day for Ioan Gruffudd!

The actor, 39, and his wife Alice Evans, 45, welcomed their second child — another daughter! — on that date, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“We are beyond thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter, Elsie Marigold, on Sept. 13th,” the couple tell PEOPLE in a statement.

“A little sister for [4-year-old] Ella Betsi. We both feel very grateful and very blessed.”

Gruffudd, who recently starred on Ringer, and Evans, who played Esther on The Vampire Diaries, announced the pregnancy in May.

E! Online was first to report the news of Elsie’s arrival.

Love the name! Not a big fan of siblings with names that could be nicknames of each (Elsie and Ella), but I like the name by itself.

Moon Acre’s Uncle Benjamin.

Beautiful names (and congrats to the parents), but I would mix them up all the time!

Loved her on “The Christmas Card.” Congratulations!

I love both of them and I’m thrilled that they have another healthy baby! Surprised by the name choice, maybe their older daughter’s name, it holds special meaning for them. Cute that both girls have September birthdays, always get to celebrate together!

Umm – it says on IMDb that she was born Aug, 1971 – that would make her 42. I donno – IMO newspapers and magazines should get their facts straight.

Editor’s note: Per the DMV – one of the agencies we verify ages with – she was born Aug. 2, 1968. If IMDB would like to say otherwise, that’s fine, but we can only use officially verified ages.

Even if People did goof up re: her age, who cares? What’s she gonna do, sue?

Imdb is not a factual site. It’s the same as Wikipedia. People fact checks ages before posting!

Please tell me their children go by their middle names.

Why is it okay for her to have a baby at 45 and Halle gets attacked by posters for having one at 46? I do not understand how any person can come down on anyone who is pregnant and will love and care for their child? I am pregnant at 40 and am amazed at other people’s need to say who does or doesn’t have a right to be a parent. Casey Anthony was a young mother and she should rot in hell and never given the right to procreate.

Lovely name but too similar to her sister’s, IMHO

Such a great actor…Congrats!

again...shut up on

Did anyone else notice that it appears their second daughters name is just a combination of their first daughters first and middle name? Ella Betsi=ellsie. Which is also a popular name for a friggin cow. Pehaps, not my cup of tea; but to each his own.

I personally believe that some of the best parents are the older ones. I was career-oriented and certainly sowed my wild oats in my 20s, and got it out of my system. In my 30s and I went on alot of bad dates in my quest to find Mr Right, and still found myself single at 38 and frustrated with dating. I gave up dating and Ive been trying to conceive for a while and I do hope it happens since adoption is very difficult if youre single, not to mention, a painful process. It is so much harder to get pregnant 40 and over so I do regret waiting. However, everyone that knows me can attest that I would make a great mother and I certainly deserve to be one. I am sure I’ll get backlash from cousins and some family members but oh well. I am sure Alice used a fertiity doc too. Congrats to them both.

My grandma’s name was Elsie. I haven’t heard many people with that name.

James Morrisson (british soul singer) also called his daughter Elsie.
