Newlyweds Johnathon Schaech and Julie Solomon have another reason to celebrate: they’re now parents!

The actor, 43, and his wife, 29, welcomed a son on Thursday, Sept. 12, his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Born in Los Angeles at 2:50 a.m., Camden Quinn Schaech arrived weighing in at 7 lbs., 15 oz. and measured 19 inches.

“Julie came up with ‘Camden’ — she had no idea my hometown team played at Camden Yards,” the Ray Donovan star, who is from Maryland, tells PEOPLE. “We have my team pennant hanging up in the baby room.”

Quinn is in honor of Solomon’s late grandmother’s maiden name.

The couple were married in an intimate beach ceremony in Ocean City, Md. at the end of July, after Schaech finished shooting Hercules 3D in Bulgaria.

“It all makes sense now,” Schaech tells PEOPLE after his son’s delivery. “We are so happy and beyond excited — life has just begun.”

Revealing in March that he has “wanted to be a dad more than anything in the world,” the actor shared that the couple were expecting their first child.

“It is life-changing. Good things come to those who wait. I feel so lucky,” the dad-to-be, who has been divorced twice, said.

In the days leading up to their little one’s big arrival, Schaech spent his time getting schooled on having a son.

“We are having labor class on labor day!!!” he Tweeted, later adding, “Does anyone know what a peepee teepee is?”

Wouldn’t it be funny if his son and his ex-wife’s daughter hooked up in the future?

@I’m Standing Right Behind You…
That actually happened to my family… My Uncle’s son with his 2nd wife married My Ex-Aunts daughter with her 2nd husband… Anyway, marriage ended in disaster.

20 years from now all the tabloids are going to be so confusing with all these boys born in the last year named Camden. It’s like the go to name for Stars/ Hollywood types having boys it seems.

Congratulations! Love the name Camden, as my 5 yr old boy is also named Camden. Hoping nothing but happiness and love in all of your futures.

Nothing better than a child who’s truly wanted…

Wish every kid had that.

Best wishes to the new parents.

Yuck at the name Camden? Are you serious? There are two Chloes, three Amandas, three Ellas, three Sarahs, two Owens, two kids names Lucas and four Joshua’s in my daughter’s third grade class. Camden has a LONG way to go to keep up with that… Amanda.

Nothing more special than a grandparent’s love. Congratulations to your family, Jo.

Congrats to them!

It’s not my business but I really hate recycled baby names. Can no one dig deep into their family history or a favorite book and pick a name? I mean come on, be unique and creative! Gosh…

Hea on

Congrats to them. I like the name.

Selena – If I dug up my family history I’d likely name my son Erik Valdemar Anund and a daughter would be Astrid Theresia Märta. Cool. I’ll go with that if the day comes.

Aww, congratulations to them on their new son! How exciting!

I also love that “Jo Schaech” has replied with their obvious excitement too! It’s always nice to have family members chime in! Congrats to you too on another grandchild! :)

Recycled names? You mean like Selena? I personally know five Selena’s and zero Camden’s. but, rethinking that, all names are recycled unless the name is made up. I don’t see why people get all worked up when celebs use the same name and say they “stole” it. Names don’t belong to people and we can all use them.
