Jay Ryan has his own real life beauty: his baby girl!

The Beauty and the Beast star and his longtime love, writer/director Dianna Fuemana, welcomed daughter Eve in March, Ryan confirms to TV Week Australia.

Until recently, the proud new parents had decided to keep the news private.

“It’s changing my life and really put a lot of things in perspective,” Ryan, 31, says. “I never expected to be a dad at my age and she was a little bundle of surprise for me and my partner, but it makes me realize how important family really is.”

Baby girl’s birth coincided with the New Zealand native’s time spent in Canada, wrapping work on the first season of his hit show.

“She’s a Canadian-New Zealand girl and we spent a lot of time in Toronto waiting for her papers and visas to come through, and realizing we’re not going to sleep for five years,” Ryan says.

But what’s all that work without a little play? “Then we had a holiday in L.A. and all our family from New Zealand came,” the actor adds. “We hired a beautiful villa in the Hollywood Hills and spent time as a family so everyone could get to meet her.”

Always fun to be Canadian! ;) In all seriousness, congrats to them!

CABL on

What a hottie!

Sylvia on

That makes me one proud Canadian! Congrats to the happy couple :)

ps. He’s gorgeous

Steph on

Love him on Beauty and the Beast! He’s just a doll :)

“’I never expected to be a dad at my age [31] . . . ‘”

Uh, what exactly does that mean? If you didn’t want to become a dad at that age, fine, I understand, but he talks like 31 is a weird age to start a family. I don’t understand. Does he mean he’s too old or too young to be a first time dad???? Where I’m from, that’s a pretty normal age to have your first child . . .

Sharon on

Don’t know much about him, but he is absolutely GORGEOUS! Congratulations on your princess…love her name!

Heidi on

to those who are confused about his comments it sounds like Eve is adopted and she is Canadian by birth, so they had to spend time in Toronto while everything was finalized. As well I gather they thought it was going to take awhile (as most believe) and it happened all of a sudden. That happened with our third, we got him within six weeks of filling out all our paperwork. Anyhow congrats to them!

kiki on

That’s not what he’s saying. She is not adopted, he has stated before in March that his partner was pregnant with his first child.

Most likely the paperwork was necessary to that she could travel back to their native NZ.

Melanie on

No it’s a proper biological child. He confirmed a while ago that they were expecting. And I think he thinks that 31 is too young to have a child particularly as he is still building his career in Hollywood.

dsfg on

Yes, I like the name, too. It’s a normal name, a GIRL’S name, but it isn’t overused.

Steph on

For the record, Eve is NOT adopted, as it was announced a while back that his girlfriend was pregnant with their child

Sunshine on

I thought I was the only person who thought that was strange. I guess he thinks he’s too young which 31 isn’t . Whatever I really don’t care

Melanie- A “proper biological child”? So adopted children are improper or “wrong” somehow? Wow, just wow.

Anonymous on

BTW, congrats to them.

Hea on

I think he just thought he’d wait until he was older than 31 to have a kid. Why analyze?

Anonymous on

Jay and his gf are New Zealanders – not Canadians.

chloe on

I don’t think he is suggesting 31 is young, but there are people who don’t think they will be parents until they are in their late 30s or 40s- so its possible he figured/felt he would wait until late 30s/40s to be a dad so he never thought he’d be a dad at 31.

SISSI on

Have you seen his partner? How refreshing to see a celeb (and gorgeous guy too!) in love with a ”normal” beautiful woman! :)

Natalie on

Part of me thinks it’s not that he’s 31 , but that he didn’t want to get his girlfriend pregnant.

31 isn’t too young to be a dad if they thought it too young perhaps they should have been more careful.

I hope they are enjoying her now that she’s here.

Also Eve is a beautiful name. Lovely for a baby and an adult .

kiki on

Seriously, that is clearly not what the person meant.

Sharon on

I really dont think thats what she meant…ppl are so quick to jump at each other on this board!

dsfg on

We don’t know what Melanie meant, but either way, it’s an ignorant comment.

Anonymous on

dsfg- Exactly! Whether Melanie meant her comment the way I interpreted it or not, it was simply bad taste!

Jay, I just started to watch the show BATB. Finished watching season 1 in two day loved it and got hooked. Know watching season two. Mondays are coming to slow. Anyways I have ben reading a lot about you. Congrats on yr baby girl there is nothing more beautiful then experiencing a life of a child. As for the fans that have nothing good to say about yr gf. Age is nothing but a number, and looks do not matter as long as u r happy, that’s what matters. I think yr not to young or to old. I’m 31 and have 4 beautiful children. Once agen jay congrats, yr baby is going to make fell like a kid agen.

Holy shemp, Ryan’s daughter is almost one year old and I didn’t even know about it?! This is awesome! You are a daddy now, Ryan. Take good care of her, and she’ll take good care of you.
