Kim Fields Expecting Second Son

07/24/2013 at 08:30 PM ET

It’s two boys for Tootie.

Kim Fields is expecting her second child in early December — a son she plans to name Quincy Xavier, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.

The former Facts of Life star, 44, and husband Christopher Morgan, 37, are already parents to 6-year-old son Sebastian Alexander.

Fields will make the announcement on an upcoming episode of The Real, airing next week.

“Sebastian and Christopher are very excited. We’re very, very blessed,” she says. “It was planned. We’ve actually been trying for a couple years. We had gotten pregnant twice and [miscarried]. Chris and I were very blessed to really have one another, to have our family and friends and our God to really get us through that.”

“If I’m encouraging to anybody … it’s not like I’m the poster child for over 40 and pregnant,” Fields, who also starred on Living Single, continues.

“Funny enough, for a minute I thought I was getting pre-menopausal ‘cuz certain things were starting to be irregular and then other symptoms started — my memory and I was clumsier than normal which I couldn’t even believe was possible. Then our son got sick with a stomach virus and I caught it. Chris said, ‘No, babe, you’re a little sicker than Sebastian. You need to go and get that checked out’ and I said,’Okay.’ They tested me and said, ‘Oh honey, you’re not dehydrated. You’re two months pregnant.'”

Fields and Morgan, a Broadway actor, were married in July 2007.

I hope she’s far enough along that she’s not likely to miscarry again since she’s let the cat out of the bag about being pregnant. The article doesn’t say when she’s due. Always liked her as Tootie. 🙂

Anonymous on

The article states she’s due early December.

M on

It says she’s due early december so that makes her about 20 weeks.

Marcinda on

It does say she is due in early December.

Lori on

So happy for Kim and her husband! I’ve always loved her as an actress, and it’s so nice to see a child actress(and all the other Facts of LIfe girls) making it through without getting into drugs, or in jail for one reason or another.

Julie on

Congratulations Kim!

Michele on

Congratulations to Kim and her family on this beautiful addition. And congrats on surviving the transition from child to adult actress without falling victim to common pitfall experienced by your peers.

Heidi on

Is it that Michele? Or is it that she wasn’t stalked by paps for online gossip sites and she wasn’t using social media? Because online and social media didn’t exist back then.

anon on

Look at the Corys. Social media didn’t exist for them either but they were wrapped up in drugs for a spell. As was…the guy that played Kinicky on grease. All the money spent on drugs

klutzy_girl on

I’ve loved her since Facts of Life. Congratulations and I hope everything goes well!

Chrystal on

Another high risk pregnancy.

Tajma on

Kim Fields is beautiful and talented. Congratulations to her and her husband.

Kim on

Kim Is so wonderful! Congrats to her! I just wish everyone would also remember her phenomenal work as “Raegene” on In Living Single besides Tootie. 🙂

bellyitch on

Lol! right Kim!?

Most likely, the people that frequent this site probably never watched that show.

I loved that show and she was one of my fave actors on it.

“Living Single” essentially was one the formats that Designing women followed after with the Golden Girls being the predecessor to both.

But she’s done some cameos and other projects since.

Her little sis has done a lot of work too.

Anna on

I love ‘Living Single’ and ‘Designing Women’. Just wanted to clarify….DW began in 1986…LS began in 1993….Congratulations to Kim and Her lovely husband!

Rachel on

Wow, so many Hollywood women in their 40’s coming out pregnant left and right. Gives me hope that I will concieve my second child at 38! Congrats Kim!

Stacey on

Hey Rachel don’t give up hope honey.. I’m 41 gonna be 42 next month and 9 wks.pregnant!

Debby on

Hey Rachel, my great aunt had four boys and at age 45 thought she was menopausal (change of life she called it) and found out she was pregnant; it gets better! She was hopping this time she’d have her girl! While delivering the Doc said its a boy… But don’t push just yet … The other is right behind! She sat up and said “what other one!” The Doc was telling her don’t sit up … here it comes now one more push.. Your girl! 5 boys and one girl… The girl of course was a pain in all of our A$$es, but we all love telling that story’!

Bec on

Love Kim! Hope she has a healthy comfortable pregnancy!

Erica McDaniel on

Congrats! I love to hear these type of stories because I am getting ready to try to conceive my first child at 39!

Anonymous on

If she knows it’s a boy, then she’s at least 18-20 weeks along (middle of 2nd trimester). The most common time for miscarriage is the 1st trimester.

Cole on

@Rachel, celebs have the money to do multiple rounds of in vitro and a lot of them have huge egos and don’t want people to know, which is a shame because it give false hope to “average” women who think it’s so easy to get pregnant later in life. Same thing with trying to act like they lost the baby weight by just breast feeding. Don’t give up though, my cousin went through 6 years of infertility and ended up getting pregnant at 40. A year later she is pregnant again – with twins! No in vitro. We tease her all the time … be careful what you wish for … Good luck!

Heidi on

Well, there are people who can conceive naturally and lose weight naturally. I had my second child at 40, and it was the old fashioned way. I lost all the weight purely through breast feeding and drinking a lot of water to replenish. Idk if it’s jealousy that makes people assume its in vitro or surgery for weight loss, but lots of women do this naturally. I’m very sorry if you can’t, but don’t label everyone else based on your failed efforts.

Momof2in1year on

Anonymous, I lost my daughter 3 weeks and my son 5 weeks before their scheduled arrivals. It can happen anytime.

Congrats, Kim, and happy and healthy rest of thepregnancy to you!!

Zeze on

Wow, mom2in1year that’s horrible!

Amy on

She looks fantastic and just radiant. Congrats!

You can find out in the first trimester if it is a boy or girl through testing often done in high risk women. It does not have to be her second trimester. I wish her the best…

Jennifer S on

Congratulations Kim! Loved Facts of Life! The good ole’ days when there were real good wholesome sitcoms, not all this reality crap on tv!

As someone who has had three miscarriages, is now 6 months pregnant with my first and about to turn 40 I say, yay Kim!!! I have been there and back and the journey is just that much sweeter.

Becky on

Congrats Tootie..Best wishes for a safe pregnancy..

@Momof2in1..Anonymous didn’t say a miscarriage couldn’t happen any time, just that the first trimester is the most common time for them..Sorry for your loss..

DJ on

#1 I feel old! She’s 44!? Oh lord where has time gone? #2 Congrats…I hope all goes well in your second pregnancy..but is this really BREAKING NEWS??

eaton on

well, duh, it’s not SUPPOSED to be easy to conceive when you’re 42 and 43 and 44. Nature doesn’t really want the old eggs fertilized.

I conceived naturally, the first month of trying, at the age of 42, and now have a happy, heathy 3 year old so it can happen and this Eaton person, you need to move on

Donor eggs. They really think we are sooooo stupid.

Jennifer on

It can happen, just don’t give up. My mother gave birth to my youngest brother at the age of 38, making me at least 10 years older than my brother. It SHOCKED THE HELL out of the rest of my family, but it can happen!!!

Anonymous on

if she’s clumsy, should she really be having another baby? oops…that’s how it happened!!

I had no problem conceiving my children. I had my first at 38 and my second at 40. Carried both full term, NO PROBLEMS! If its meant to be, it will.

Ladies trying to get pregnant check out….Fertility over 40…website! Great information!

dsfg on

I’m pretty sure “we” don’t get pregnant and miscarry. Last I checked, only women get pregnant and miscarry.

Nandi on

I’ve never seen this in any other part of the world, but women in America are having children late. I’m from South Africa, we have babies in our late 20’s and we too chase after stressful careers, try to juggle families and everything else in between. Why give out the foetuses name before it’s born? some things are sacred but I suppose to each his own. Good luck to her.

Jen DC on

@Heidi: But drugs, alcohol and bad influences have existed throughout time. Todd Bridges and Dana Plato succumbed for a long time to drug abuse – both were on Diff’rent Strokes. Mackenzie Phillips was on One Day At A Time – addict. Corey Haim AND Corey Feldman were both addicts. So… no, it’s not the paps, hon. It’s a conglomeration of issues, which today includes a lack of privacy (although you can get privacy if you want it badly enough).

Kat on

Congrats Kim!!! I got pregnant naturally at 41 and had a beautiful baby son at 42. Now he’s 2 and healthy happy boy. Any women can have babies over 40s. Some are lucky. Some aren’t. Just keep faith 🙂

lotus1975 on

Congrats to her and her family.

And for those nasty comments about age etc… I am 40 and still trying to conceive. 1 failed IVF and my Dr. said we should still try again up to 45 is normal.

Jennifer on

I got pregnant naturally after not trying/not preventing for 15 months at age 39 1/2. My daughter is now 14 months and the best thing I ever did in my life!

Just wish we would have started sooner because I would love many more!

Samantha on

Congrats Kim on your pregnancy. May God richly bless you and your family.

anonymous if you read the article it says she’s due in Dec. I’ve had 4 miscarriages and they’ve all been at exactly 12 weeks. so I think she’s safe…and excited! nothing more precious than a child who is loved.

Jana on

I would totally watch this show! Going to look up where it’s playing in my area.

My husband and I had a surprise pregancy at 43 and gave birth when I was 44 to a healthy baby boy. It was an easy preganacy and now 3 years later, he is happily wearing us out!!! LOL Good luck to all. It can happen naturally.

Terri on

Congratulations to the family! It’s such a special blessing after suffering from miscarriages to find out that you’re pregnant. Hope she has a healthy pregnancy.

Terri on

Heidi, even before social media a lot of child stars didn’t make it through the transition well. A lot of drugs & other issues hurt a lot of Kim’s peers.

Wendy on

TMI…do we really need to know the details of her pregnancy symptoms, etc?? Who cares!

Michelle on

Congrats to Kim and her husband!! There are many reasons why women do not have children when they were younger, I did not meet my husband until I was in my late 30’s…I was not about to marry just anyone nor did I want to have a child out of wedlock…so for all you women who are trying to conceive later in life, ignore all the negative comments and live your life and do what is best for you. 🙂

Jennifer on

Me too Michelle! Did not want baby out of wedlock and when you marry at 37…and then baby at 40. I know these days thinking you need to be married to have a baby is old fashion but so be it.

OnlyNiceComments on

I wonder what is the pull towards having babies over 40? Second wind? Empty nest? late marriage? Void? Every person I know over 40 who had a baby is having a harder time than if they were in their 20s or 30s. Fatigue, degenerative joints, barely able to keep up with active toddlers, etc. To each his/her own. COngrats to her and good luck.

Michelle on

I wish people knew her from Living Single and for directing, When you say Facts of Life it’s so old I am sure a lot of people are like why you still talking about her, She does a lot of behind the sceens stuff now. Am very happy for her.

Kathy on

Congrats to Kim. (and at Chrystal- don’t be critical. A lot of women 40 and up are having children these days!)

Erica on

To all those ladies out there who want to have a baby at a later age do not give up hope!!! I’m 40 years old and 27 weeks pregnant. I became pregnant while breastfeeding my now 15 month old who I had a 39. I had my 27 month old son when I was 38. I had absolutely no problem getting pregnant nor did I have any complications. It really depends on the woman. Some women have trouble conceiving whether they are in their 20s or in their 40s and some dont. The important thing here is take care of your health to increase your chances of conceiving.

On another note, I am so glad I had my children older. I was able to complete my Masters and my husband and I have a very successful business. I also have much more patience now than when I had my children in my early 20s (I have three adult children as well from a previous marriage).

Anonymous on

Congrats and god bless! She looks amazing….I had my first at 42 and working on number 2 at 45. With zero complications…God is good.

Anonymous on

Had twins at 37 and one at 42. All natural… Thrilled for Kim! Congrats and God Bless!

Kellie on

I am only 4 yrs older than her and I cannot even imagine going through pregnancy again lol. Best of luck to them.

Loli on

I’m 28 and 37 weeks pregnant, it’s hard even now, imagine bieng preggies in your mid 40’s #pure torture, I agree with Nandi, the 20’s and early to mid 30’s r the best time t have a baby

Violeta on

In bygone years it was not so hard for women in their late 30’s and 40’s to conceive and carry out full term pregnancies. I think a lot of the issues today stem from our diets as well as life style choices. My grandmother conceived and carried full term twins at the ripe “old” age of 43.

Lovely1 on

My friend, 42, just found out she is pregnant with her third baby! A beautiful surprise! I know it’s possible because my grandmother had her seventh child at 46!!

Tyne on

Congrats to Kim and hubby. But I wonder if this blessing was thru the means of IVF? Most celebs will say they have tried for years, but never say if IVF was the reason for finally becoming pregnant…when it is.

Tyne on

If Kim had IVF I think it’s quite important that she mentions this instead of giving older women false hope. She said she’s been trying…IVF? Did she conceive by IVF? I know older women can have children, my mother-in-law at 47 and naturally. But I would like to know if Kim did or not.

angie on

She is a beautiful woman….I don’t know that she’s had any work done but my goodness she looks fabulous…always been a pretty lady!!

I wish her & her husband the very best on this pregnancy. My husband & I are going thru the exact same things only we haven’t yet been so blessed…fingers crossed tho.
