There’s another baby on the way for Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans!

The former Ringer star and his wife — who played Esther on The Vampire Diaries — are expecting their second child, a rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Already proud parents to 3½-year-old daughter Ella Betsi Janet, the couple are “thrilled” to be expanding their family further, the rep adds.

Gruffudd — who recently guest-starred on Castle and has filmed Forever and Mariah Mundi — certainly seems up for the challenge of two kids; He previously joked that Ella is constantly keeping him on his toes!

“She’s very, very strong. She’s like her mother. I’ve got my work cut out for me at home,” the actor, 39, says.

Evans, 44, recently guest-starred on Grimm. The couple, who met on the set of 102 Dalmations, were married in September 2007 in Mexico.

Awwww! That’s wonderful.

What??? on

Yes women 40+ can have babies….hopefully this article is’nt filled with bashing the way Halle’s announcement was……it takes a certain kind of crappy person to complain about a baby.

Congratulations to them!

Aw, yay! I loved him on Ringer and the episode of Castle he guest starred on was pretty good!

Congratulations to them.

BIG difference between having a baby at 41 and having a baby at 46.

I asked my OBGYN how many pregnant women she had in these age groups) after Halle announced her latest pregnancy). She said it was extremely unlikely that a 46 year old woman would give birth with her own eggs/without assistance. In the last 10 years she’s had 1 patient over 45 that had a “surprise” pregnancy. She also said that while it can be difficult for women 40-42 to get pregnant, even with assistance, she always has 2-3 women in that category.

Congrats to the happy couple!

It is exhausting listening to women go on bashing other women who have children in their 40s and give statistics about things they have not personally experienced. Can’t we just be happy for one another?

Congratulations to the both of them!

Amen to that, Brenna. There’s enough women in their 40s getting pregnant that you would think it would no longer be a novelty and people would stop being “experts” about who can get pregnant and who can’t. The fact is – if you still get a period, you can still get pregnant.

Congrats to the happy couple! A baby is always a blessing!

And I agree with Brenna 100%! Don’t judge others based on what they choose to do with their lives – live and let live!

As I have stated before – 60+ years ago, my late ex-mother-in-law gave birth to 2 of her 8 children after she was 50. There were no problems with either child – as my ex-husband is one of them and he just turned 66 a week ago. My ex’s father was 47 when he was born and his mother a few years older, and he(the ex) has a brother who is 3.5 years younger. It CAN happen naturally and people who state otherwise are wrong.

jackie on

he was orginally married to the one he starred with on 101 dalmations…how hysterical

Matt on

No he wasn’t jackie, he IS married to his co-star from 102 Dalmatians which is Alice! He was never in 101 Dalmatians, look up your facts before you attempt to bash someone.

I am 40 and i can tell you your energy level goes wayyyyyy south! I am so glad mine are almost 17…i cannot imagine starting a family at that age.

It is so nice to hear about Ioan, I have been a fan of his since his Horatio Hornblower series (A&E). Best wishes to Ioan and Alice.

Congrats to them! I loved him in Ringer and ‘m still so so sad that it was cancelled! Why do they always cancel the good ones??

Annachestnut on

Loved him as Horatio Hornblower.

Sar on

They always seem like warm and kind people, very happy for their family!

Alicia on

Love him. She seems really mean and unpleasant from listening to his interviews. Good luck!

Mary on

Alice Evans is 41 not 44. Just saying.

Ioan is a terrific actor. I loved him in Ringer. Save Ringer Group on FB is launching a campaign to try to get Netflix to produce Season 2.

And he seems to be a wonderful father!
