Here’s one for the books!

On March 10, stars and their families partied (and read!) at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles to celebrate the fourth annual Story Time Celebration organized by Milk + Bookies, a charitable organization that encourages kids to give back by donating their fave stories.

Constance Zimmer and daughter Colette, Julie Bowen and her brood of boys (John, Gustav and Oliver), and Max Greenfield and his lovely ladies, wife Tess and daughter Lily all enjoyed the fun-filled event including rocking out to tunes from DJ Groovy David.

In between noshing on treats from McConnell’s Fine Ice Cream and Isabella’s Cookie Company and participating in craft time led by Little Junebugs, partygoers rubbed elbows with cute costumed critters courtesy Magic Characters.

Throughout the day, other celebrities including Don CheadleGinnifer Goodwin and Adam Scott also read children’s stories aloud. Fortunately, for New Girl actor Greenfield, choosing his fave kiddie book wasn’t too hard.

“I’ll be reading I Want My Hat Back today but [my daughter and I] are also into Dr. Seuss finally. I like The Cat and the Hat,” Greenfield told PEOPLE.

“Sometimes I’ll challenge myself before I read the book and see if I can get all the way through without messing up because it’s a tongue-twisting book. It’s fun for both of us.”

Before the event ended, celeb families also took time out to shop the onsite bookstore sponsored by Discover Books to find stories to inscribe and donate via Milk + Bookies to this year’s recipient, Operation School Bell.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
