Reese Witherspoon knows how to keep a secret — just ask Michael Bublé.

During a phone conversation to discuss their duet on the singer’s upcoming album To Be Loved, Bublé struck a chord with the actress (and mom-of-three) when he broke even bigger news: he and his wife Luisana Lopilato had a baby on the way!

“I had just found out [we were expecting]. It was the greatest day of my life, so I just said, ‘You know, I’m having a baby!’” he tells PARADE.

“And Reese was so sweet about it and excited for me. It was nice for us to bond that way. I told her before anyone else in the world knew — even members of my own family!”

Since that special day, Bublé — who recently found out they will welcome a son in August — has been busy doting on his pregnant wife.

“Obviously she’s doing all the work — she’s carrying the kid,” he says. “My job, I found out, is just to tell her that those aches and pains are normal [and] that she looks awesome.”

And most importantly, he adds, to provide the mom-to-be with a much-needed support system.

“I think sometimes it’s probably pretty scary for my wife,” Bublé, 37, notes. “It’s my job to just be strong for her like she’s strong for me all the other times.”

On one hand, I wouldn’t be surprised if cariaol was right. I’m 25 myself and can’t even imagine dating and/or marrying a guy 12 years older than me. What would I even have in common with someone who’s approximately 1.5 times my age?

On the other hand, though, my parents are almost 10 years apart, and they’re coming up on their 29th anniversary this year. It certainly hasn’t been easy for them, but they stuck it out through the hard times.

So all that to say that the age gap certainly makes things more difficult, but if they’re both committed to each other and their marriage—which means, you know, actually staying together in the hard times—it could work out.

(Note: Before someone brings it up, yes, I know that not all 25-year-olds are the same. Luisana may have plenty in common with him, despite the age difference. I’m just drawing from personal experience here.)

My father is 51 his fiancé is 37 and before someone says oh she’s marrying him for his money she’s pulls in 6 figures. And no he’s not marrying her for her money either. They both have alot in common. She’s a corporate pilot and he is finally getting his pilots license. They both have a huge LOVE of aviation amongst other things they have in common.

I am 30 and my husband is 5 yrs older than me. To me as long as both parties are mature enough to handle the relationship then age doesn’t mean squat esp once you’re in your mid to late 20′s. if she was 19 and him 35 or so then yeah that’s not gonna work.

I think he’s an amazing singer and love the way he talks about his wife. He sounds very committed and they both sound very happy.

why is everyone so hung up on age. there are 13 years between me and my husband. doesn’t bother us at all and we have baby number 3 on the way at then end of the month and on out 7th year in marriage. so i say congrats to the happy couple

Honestly, in some cultures, you want to marry a guy older than yourself since they mature slower. In my opinion, if you’re older than 25 yrs as a female, then you have a decent clue about yourself. If you’re older than 30 and marry a guy in his 40s, you know what you’re doing and age difference shouldn’t matter then. It’s when you’re right out of teenage yrs, 20-22 yrs old and want to marry a guy who’s 35-40, then they are usually just looking for a daddy-figure and just doesn’t know it yet.

Age is just a number. Why be a downer saying the age gap will split them up..there are a lot of other factors that can keep them together or break them apart.

My husband and I are 15yrs apart and have been together for 13 years. The age gap has not been an issue whatsoever (he’s older). And yes, I had a caring and loving dad. It’s possible to be in love with someone no matter what the age gap is.

I love that he talks about his wife so kindly.

It’s a sad commentary on our culture that some think it’s normal and easy to throw a marriage overboard because of “differences”. All marriages have them. Commitment and dedication to the family you have made together can see you through lots of hard times.

Unfortunately, many enter marriage like they purchase automobiles. Buyers disillusionment, a few dings and spilled beverages and they want to trade for a newer model.

Maturity and unselfishness can make permanent relationships possible. I think Michael waited until he understood these things better.

BTW My husband is 9 years older than me, been married for over 30 years and now he has major health issues that he deals with, but we deal with them together because we are married and he is my family.

It’s all fine until you reach old age. And hopefully, you WILL reach old age together. But then 15 years makes a big difference. If one is 60 and the other 75, the health issues and natural slowing down of the older one has a huge effect on the other person as well as the relationship. It is something to think about and make sure you think you can deal with it.

I don’t think they have such a great age difference. More than 20 years, that´s creepy! many marriages with people the same age don´t work also, so I guess it doesn’t depend on that. They do seem like a strong couple though, but time will tell. Married life is not always easy.

Cariaol…..maybe not. My Mom was 18 and my Dad was 30 when they got married. They were married 52 years when my Dad died. Some times the age difference is a good thing.

If 2 adults are involved but when there is a big age difference…. Bruce Willis, Alex Baldwin, Steve Martin, Warren Beatty, Tony Randall are (or were) over 50 having (wives) babies. Congrats to the new couple and the pending arrival of their baby! Age is not the issue here, love and support is. It sounds like these two are very much in love and appreciate each other. My husband and I are 7 yrs. apart and we have been married for 20 years. Yeah it sounds gross when he was 17 I was only 10, but later in life age is not such a factor when it comes to relationships.
