Michelle Williams‘ daughter Matilda Rose has yet to see her mom’s latest movie, but she’s already giving the film two thumbs up.

“She’s dying to see it. She’s very excited,” the Oz The Great and Powerful star, 32, told PEOPLE during its Wednesday premiere in Hollywood.

“[Director Sam Raimi] really welcomed her on set and he made a very kid-friendly space. She witnessed so much of it being made so she’s really excited to see it come together.”

An avid fan of the original The Wizard of Oz, the 7-year-old has been known to skip over the scarier scenes — “She runs out of the room when … the baboons start to fly,” says Williams — but promises to be brave for the newest flick.

“She said, ‘Mommy, don’t worry, I won’t be scared because I know how everything happens,” says the actress.

However, the cultured little girl doesn’t limit her film intake to only kid-oriented movies.

“She’s very open. Her interests are kind of broad,” says Williams. “She’ll watch a black and white movie and that’s fine with her.”

Michelle is my favorite Hollywood mom.

I love Michelle. She seems like a wonderful mother and I’m thrilled to see she’s doing so well with Jason.

Glad to know Michelle and Matilda are doing well and seem very happy.

Wait a minute! Isn’t she turning into a boy? She wears her hair awfully short, like a guy, so….. wonder how her little girl will feel when she has the surgery?! That’s what many of you posters say about Shiloh, whose hair is longer than Michelle’s. Before yu jump my butt, just realize I am not criticizing Michelle; I just think it’s ridiculous people are saying those things about Shiloh because she wants to wear her hair short.

I’m so happy for her. She seems like a remarkable woman.

Michelle wore her hair short for Heath Ledger – not sure she’ll grow it out now that she’s got a new guy but love her just the same!!

every time i hear that name i think of being in the 3rd grade and singing you’ll go a waltzing matilda with me and i am 55. awful horrible name. if some one names their kids posey that is flower folks put in people pockets after they died from the plague. so don’t do it.

She always looks so attractive. And she seems like a great mom too. Kudos to her!

She’s always cute. Heath missed out.

Colleen on

She seems like such a down to earth woman/mother. I’m so happy for BOTH her AND Matilda that out of all their heartache/loss, they both seemed to find a family unit with Jason. I wish them all the best!

Every time I see Matilda, I see Heath. It’s amazing how much she looks like her Daddy. Michelle seems to be doing a wonderful job of raising her.

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
