Now that Kristen Bell is expecting her first child, the actress is a little more conscious of what she’s exposing herself (and her baby!) to.

“I have been hyperaware of everything I come in contact with since I’ve been pregnant,” The Lifeguard star, 32, tells PEOPLE. “I’m just very aware of what I am putting in my body because it is affecting someone else and that’s kind of my responsibility.”

And that includes also paying attention to the products she’s putting on her face, which has never looked better.

“I am working really hard at keeping everything I use very natural so the Neutrogena Naturals acne line could not have launched at a more perfect time for me,” says the mom-to-be, who is also the brand’s ambassador. “It has the most amazing fresh citrus smell, which is a blessing compared to some other acne products.”

But while she’s concentrated on making sure her skincare is chemical-free, Bell has yet to begin planning for her baby’s big arrival.

“I think I’m supposed to have prepared, but I’ve still got a bit of time left,” she shares, adding that she has been soliciting tips and tricks from other moms.

“I have a lot of friends with kids and work with a lot of people with children, so I’m just asking everyone for their best bit of advice,” Bell says. “The nice thing is that, hands down, every person I know … has looked at me with confidence and said, ‘Oh, this is the best thing you’ll ever do with your entire life.’”

And, with that, says the actress, the rest of her parenthood prep – including designing her newborn’s nursery — will come soon.

“Once I get to the point where I’m going to want to be on the couch all day, I’ll start looking through baby books and picking everything out,” she explains.

It’s like when people say “Oh yeah, your kid is cute / your cooking is great / I love how your new hairstyle.” Nobody’s gonna tell you “OMG, you are the last person that should have kids”, even if it’s what they’re thinking

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
