Channing Tatum Jenna Dewan-Tatum Baby's Sex a Surprise

Magic Mike might be full of surprises, but nothing quite like what Channing Tatum is about to experience.

The actor and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum — who are currently expecting their first child — have opted to hold out on discovering whether they will welcome a son or daughter until delivery day.

“We’re going to be surprised, I think we’re going to do that on this one,” theΒ Side Effects star, 32, tells E News. “It’s one of the only real surprises that you’re ever gonna get that’s legit.”

But as the couple count down to the big reveal, Tatum has his doubts on whether his wife can stand the suspense.

“She’s the kind that if she knows she has a surprise somewhere she basically goes and tries to figure it out,” he explains. “She doesn’t like the whole surprise thing, so we’ll see.”

With her due date fast approaching “in the next few months,” Dewan-Tatum — who has developed a new craving for all things sweet — has never looked better to her Sexiest Man Alive husband.

“She looks normal everywhere else, but she’s got a little basketball up front,” Tatum says. “I think [pregnancy] is one of the sexiest things ever, for sure.”

Gah! I just love two. Sexiest Couple Alive is more appropriate. And his love for her makes him even sexier. Yummy.

there are few surprises in life, this is the best one. glad to see that they are going to wait ’til delivery day. congrats to the Tatums.

OK just when I think Channing can’t get any yummier – he does !!!! The love he obviously feels for his wife is beautiful and wonderful and she is one lucky lady – he truly seems dedicated and so in love with her !

“lil basketball in the front” its a BOY!

Lindsay on

Actually that’s just an old wives tale. My Best friend had a basketball belly and she was having a girl. So the shape or how high or low a person carries has nothing to do if its a boy or girl.

I hate that they can find out the sex of the baby now! My last pregnancy was almost 22 yrs ago and they wouldnt tell you. But i think that is the whole suprise to pregnancy the day you deliver and the put baby up on belly, then they say “its a boy or a girl”. Thats one of the best suprises in the world!

I love it. I wanted to wait to find out with our last baby, but my husband could not wait. Maybe the next one.

For craving all things sweet, i think she’s going to have a girl.

The only surprise is if it were a monkey. LOL! Congrats!!!

It sounds like a boy!

We waited to find out with our babies, too. It’s the best surprise!

I have 8 children and we never found out the sex of any of them. We figured we could only have a boy or a girl, so it would be one of those. We did have ultrasounds to tell us if we were having twins (twice), but never the sex. Good for them. It is one of the universe’s great surprises.

They are such a cute couple! Both are so gorgeous and I am so happy for their expanding family! The cravings sound like a girl, but the big basketball bump sounds like a boy! Such an exciting surprise! πŸ™‚

My cravings throughout both of my pregnancies were savory foods with fish being the over riding winner. I ate fish just about everyday during the last trimester and both of my babies were boys.

Love This! My husband and I are due in June and we are making the gender a surprise as well! πŸ™‚

my husband and i aren’t finding out either! the guessing games we play are pretty fun and it makes the birth in June that much more exciting πŸ™‚ congrats again to the Tatum family!

I don’t have any kids and I’m not pregnant, but when I have a baby, I plan on waiting til I deliver also. I think it’s sweet.

The cravings myth is such a lie! I am completely anti-chocolate in my everyday life and I never liked ice cream or candies and that was ALL i craved during my pregnancy. Everyone kept saying it was a girl because of that but I had a happy, healthy boy!

My second pregnancy all I wanted was spicy food and anything with cheese! I had a beautiful little girl!

Third (and final baby!) I craved red meat like a fiend! I couldn’t get enough steak!! I had another little girl!

So, I think those food cravings-myths are bologna. πŸ™‚

how is it less of a “surprise” to find out early? anyway, congrats & enjoy. that is going to be one beautiful baby!

I looked normal everywhere except my belly, which looked like I had a little basketball up in front & then later as it grew more, it was shaped like a football & I had a beautiful baby girl even though most people thought I’d have a boy. You can’t tell what the gender will be by the shape of your belly either…myth myth myth.

Yes all r myth, myth, myth. I had 2 pregnancies. Both the same bellies and cravings. 1 was a girl and the other a boy. So dont believe the hype.

The sexes of our 3 children were a surprise and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. We had 2 sons and then a daughter.

I didn’t find out with all three of my pregnancies. There is NOTHING (at least for me) that can top saying the words…”What is it…!?!?!?!?!?!” Then the screaming and the yelling of joy! It is sooo much fun!! Also, all the guessing games that you can play for 9 months is fun too.

liarlairpantsonfire- I can’t speak for everyone, of course, but for me it’s like opening your presents before Christmas. I hope that helps. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I love what Channing had to say!
