It’s a very merry holiday week for Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila.

The couple welcomed a baby boy on Friday in Austin, Texas, the actor confirms.

“Camila gave birth to our third child yesterday morning. Our son, Livingston Alves McConaughey was born at 7:43 a.m. on 12.28.12. He greeted the world at 9 lbs. and 21 inches,” McConaughey announced via Twitter.

“Bless up and thank you for your well wishes. Happy New year, and just keep livin, Camila and Matthew McConaughey.”

The pair, also parents to Vida, who turns 3 next month, and Levi, 4, announced the pregnancy just one month after their June nuptials in Texas.

Camila, 29, joked that even as she put on pregnancy pounds, her actor husband, 43, was losing weight – dramatically – for The Dallas Buyers Club, in which he plays the real-life Ron Woodruff, who contracted HIV.

“We have gone the complete opposite direction eating wise, but we’re navigating it,” she said last summer. “But I don’t really have cravings yet.”

McConaughey’s new movie, Mud, will be released April 26.

While no further information has been announced, TMZ reports that it’s another girl for the handsome couple.

tieraney on

Yay another baby girl!

I hope everything’s okay! It concerns me that they’re being so secretive (not even so much as confirming the gender), especially since they weren’t at all with the other two.

Cammy on

I want Mathew to go order a big cheeseburger (or veggi burger) and a big slice of pie! I heard about him losing weight, now it’s time to put it back on. Congratulations on their third child.

YAY name her Luna, pretty pretty please. levi, vida and luna. perfecccct!

That girl is going to have a gorgeous name. Maybe Luna or Stella. Great names with latin/spanish origin

Oh wow, was not expecting a boy after TMZ and US reported they had another girl! LOL, unexpected surprise.

And wow, that’s a long name, one I didn’t expect from them. But LOL since his motto *is* “just keep livin”.

Congratulations to them!

Pammy on

Congrats on the birth of your new baby boy

Wow….every website said it was a girl, but turns out it was a boy all along…lol! Congrats to the family, though not crazy about the name.

Why would anyone report misinformations saying it was a girl? And so not a fan of the name Livingston. I’ll bet they named him that just so they could say something like ‘Dr Livingston, I presume’ or something equally as weird. It doesn’t go with Vida and Levi at all. Dont like but each to their own I guess.

Cam on

Vida means Life in portuguese.

Livingston is so very similar to both other kids name. Living/Life and Livi/Levi.

Ashley on

I like their name choice! I think it’s perfect, it’s sort of a mix between their first two baby names. Levi, Vida and Livingston. I think they go together greatly! Congratulations on the baby boy!!

funny how the baby was a girl the other day NOW A BOY, GREAT REPORTING………. NOT LOL. CONGRATS ON BABY BOY I HOPE .

Kim, “sources” said it was girl. Most media outlets will run with that confirmation alone. Because “sources” can say no wrong. For the most that’s why I’ve always read this blog. While they may run confirmation on sources, it’s never wrong. At least in the many years I’ve been reading this site they’ve never been wrong. I’ve never seen them post a retraction / false pregnancy announcement etc…

With that said, Congratulations! This is one announcement I was waiting for! Livingston fits with Levi and Vida, though I thought they’d go with another 4 letter name.

Agreed Ariel. Yesterday everyone was concerned People hadn’t confirmed the gender. Now they are upset others reported it wrong.

Megan on

Anon, PEOPLE never posted the sex of the baby. Their competitors did, and they were wrong.

Cammy- Actually, I hope he DOESN’T go out and eat a cheeseburger or big slice of pie. About a month or so ago, he explained that doing so would be very dangerous, and could possibly even make him diabetic.

When you’ve been on a diet as extreme as he has, you have to go back to your normal eating habits gradually and under the close guidence of a doctor.

Marlie on

Don’t the part time journalists look silly now, it’s a boy πŸ™‚

Too funny that all of the gossip sites (except for PEOPLE) were saying yesterday that the baby was a girl and it turns out he is, in fact, a boy! I wonder what caused the mix-up?

Anyway, I agree with others that the name fits with their other two children’s names and with their “style”. πŸ™‚

Also, that is one big baby!

While I like the name Livingston on its own, for me it doesn’t fit with the others. Levi and Vida are short, plus Livingston starts and sounds similar to Levi. I guess I was expecting something different. But hey, none of my business. Congratulations on a healthy baby.

Romy on

not a fan of the name, but it goes with his just keep on livin

all I can I think is him saying L-I-V-I-N!

Stacey on

Dang it!! I was hoping it was a girl………..Vida is so cute.

Jen on

Wow, a 9 pound baby! That’s as much as Matthew weighs right now!! Crazy!

Anonymous on

Jen- If Matthew weighed nine pounds, he wouldn’t be alive, as that is nowhere near enough to sustain an adult! Also, he lost the weight for a movie role. I think we need to give hm a break!

Mariana on

Anonymous, I believe Jen was joking…

Livingston??? Can you imagine calling him to come in for lunch. Livingston, Livingston, oh, Livingston. Poor kids – I don’t know what these people can’t give their kids a normal name. What’s wrong with Michael, Sarah, or Alex if you want gender neutral?

kim on

are all you people commenting on here idiots?? can you NOT read?? matthew stated himself they had a baby boy NOT a girl. why are you all congratulating him on a baby girl?? jeeez!!!

Serena on

Denise…”Michael” and “Sarah” are “gender nuetral” names?! I do not know a single boy named Sarah or a girl named Michael, do you?

Serena on

Livingston McConaughey is quite the mouthful. A three-sylable first name with a four-sylable last name is not recommended by baby-naming experts because it does not ‘flow’ well or easily. With a four-sylable last name they recommend a one or two-sylable first name, and I agree.

claireadele on

i also heard it was a girl?

w on

Such a great name… wish he would put some muscle back on

Jean on

It was a baby boy that they had..Now, they have 2 boys & 1 girl. Congrats!
