Leonor Varela‘s days as villainous vixen may be over, but her role in motherhood has only just begun.

The former Dallas actress, 39, and producer Lucas Akoskin have welcomed their first child together, the new mom announced on Twitter Tuesday.

Matteo V. Akoskin is finally in our arms!” Varela writes, keeping any further details under wraps.

Confirming the pregnancy in July, Varela and Akoskin were elated to be starting a family together. “The couple are over the moon,” her rep told PEOPLE at the time.

Sometimes, I have to click on these posts just to find out who the heck some of these people are.

Congrats to her. Wasn’t she once engaged to actor Billy Zane?

A baby is always great news but who is this woman?

I always find it weird when Spanish-speakers living in English-speaking countries choose Italian names for their children. Ricky Martin did the same thing with his twins… is it a fad or are they just out of touch with their own language?

Cleopatra! ;) She is so beautiful and a great actress. Wish she got more work in the U.S. Congrats to them!

@heroisms: I don’t know about all the cases (and I obviously don’t know the absolute reason for this case either) but in this case, Matteo is a very very very common name in Spanish speaking countries, so I don’t know why you say it’s an Italian sounding name. I think one of Ricky Martin’s twins is named Valentino? That’s super common in Spanish as well.

Maybe it’s not so easy for English speakers to differentiate Italian sounding from Spanish sounding? Just a thought.

sunny- You are a breath of fresh air! Instead of just asking “Who is this person?” you actually read the answer to that question that is usually right in the post. I don’t know why that’s so hard for other people to do!

And if you (general “you” not you personally!) aren’t satisified with that, there’s this nifty little thing called google! ;)

heroisim- Lau is probably right, and even if she isn’t, I’ve never seen any law stating that spanish speakers have to give their kids spanish names! :)

@heroisms Actually, in Spanish they would be Mateo (the “tt” does not exist in Spanish) and Valentín. That’s why I found it surprisng – a Spanish speaker wouldn’t confuse the two languages like that, so it must be a conscious decision to pick the Italian form. The same an English speaker can tell Mathieu isn’t English but Matthew is.

Love that name Matteo :) That is our son’s name !!!

Actually, Matteo is also the Spanish form of Matthew. It’s pretty common in Spanish-speaking countries. Do some research before looking ignorant.
