Tim Gunn Lends His Voice to Disney Film, Sofia the First

11/12/2012 at 02:00 PM ET

Roll out the red carpet: Style arbiter Tim Gunn is making it work in a whole new arena. The Project Runway judge is taking his talents to the (animated!) screen — only this time he’s helping prime a princess.

As the voice of the bespectacled steward Baileywick in Disney’s Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess, Gunn assists sweet Sofia (Ariel Winter) as she learns her place in the palace — and adjusts to a new royal routine — after her mother, Queen Miranda (Sara Ramirez), marries a king.

Premiering Sunday at 7pm EST, the whimsical film features five original songs and cameos by a few classic princesses including Cinderella. Can’t get enough of Sofia? Disney is debuting a complementary television series, Sofia the First, early next year.

When I heard Tim’s voice in the first commercial for this I got excited, it will be great to have him in something other than PR!

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
