Jennifer Nettles is ending her pregnancy on a very high — and fashionable — note.

The Sugarland singer, who is due with her first child this month, looked radiant at Thursday’s Country Music Association Awards.

Along with simple accessories, she swathed her baby belly in a curve-hugging black gown by Donna Karan.

“When you’re this pregnant, you want to find something that is cut right … that’s super important,” Nettles, 38, told PEOPLE.

“For me, I like something more fitted. I think that’s more flattering for me [being] this round.”

And while the mom-to-be was completely comfortable in her strapless floor-length dress — “It stretches in all the right ways!” — the country star couldn’t say the same about her metallic sky-high heels.

“[My] shoes on the other hand are beautiful — they’re Gucci — but my dogs are barking at this point!” she joked.

Then skip the heels and wear flats? Um, that seems kind of obvious, right?

Jennifer looked beautiful last night! I’m disappointed that Sugarland didn’t win duo of the year, though.

She looks radiant and comfortable! :)

I said this in another post the dress looked amazing. I am a fan of her but I’m not always thrilled with what she wears. But this looked amazing. I was surprised she opted for heels. She normally doesn’t wear heels outside of awards shows and I figured at this point she’d trade off for something more comfortable. All in all, she looked great! Hard to believe, at least for me, that her pregnancy really flew. Only a few more weeks until the little one is here!

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
