Courteney Cox: Halloween Brings Out Coco's Creative Side
Amanda Schwab/Startraks

Halloween has always held a special place in Courteney Cox‘s heart. In recent years, the actress has donned costumes that range from a goofy, overgrown sunflower, to a wicked, sexy witch. The Scream franchise has given the world a go-to Halloween costume, on Friends her character famously channeled Catwoman, while on Cougar Town it was a princess outfit.

These days, All Hallow’s Eve is all about waiting to see what convoluted costume her 8-year-old daughter, Coco, can come up with next.

“This Halloween she’s going to be a half angel-half devil,” Cox tells PEOPLE Saturday while hosting EBMRF and Sony Playstation’s Epic Halloween Bash in Los Angeles. “But at one point she wanted to be a baby-old man-detective and she had this whole outfit planned out.”

The apple bobbing doesn’t fall far from the tree. As Cox watched Coco put together her very original wardrobe, she couldn’t help but think of which end of the gene pool played a significant role in how her daughter approached this annual game of dress up.

“She had a bib, she had a mustache, glasses, a pacifier, and I was like, ‘That’s very David, isn’t it?’ The actress says with a laugh, referring to her ex, David Arquette. “To just come up and be that creative. I see a lot of both of us in Coco, for sure. She’s very, very split down the middle between the two of us, and Coco is really, really, really creative.”

Maternal boasting aside, Cox, who hosted the event with James Marsden to bring attention to epidermolysis bullosa medical research, concedes that her precocious daughter is still very much your typical kid.

“She is half devil and half angel, so I thought [the costume] was just typecasting for her,” Cox jokes. “She just really has a big heart, and she’s 8, not mischievous, but she’s bold.”

Bold, creative, but at the same time pragmatic, which is a trait most parents can appreciate on a hectic holiday like Halloween.

“Last year we left DWTS and went trick-or-treating. We finally got to the street that we like to trick-or-treat on and within about five houses she was like, ‘Alright, I’m done. I’m fine,’ the Cougar Town actress and director says. “It’s not so funny, but that is fantastic.”

OMG, Courtney looks so plastic. You can hardly recognize her… What a shame…

I like that she can talk about her ex with what seems to be genuine fondness; Coco’s going to be so much better off for it.

Holly on

all that botox and she still looks her age

she sure does,

wow that is some major botox going on Courtney! why do these celeb women want to look so plastic and phony?! really sad! Hope Coco doesn’t go that route for sure.

Not sure if I’m reading it wrong or it’s bad editing, but she seems to be bouncing all over the place in this interview. Her choice of words and contradictions in every sentence makes her sound like a maniac.

Who cares if she’b Botox’d up? She seems to be a fantastic mother who’s absolutely smitten with her daughter. Things could be worse!

Might not be all botox…if you notice, her neck and arms are a darker shade than her face. Definitely over photoshopped as well, that can make a plastic (y) look on people too. (not saying she didn’t have botox though. LOL)

She is awesome and I just love how she still talks about David with real affection and respect- something all too rare in Hollywood or anywhere else.

She and David seem like really good parents—and for them to be so civil while separating is great for their daughter. It’ll make her much better off.

But she just looks terrible! Too much plastic or something going on in her face! She looks like she got cheek implants or something. What happened to her?!?! So sad, but glad she’s a great mom nonetheless.

Only thing that I found remotely interresting or newsworthy about this article… Is the fact that Courtney Cox hosted an event for Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research! EB was brought to my ATTENTION through baby Easton Friedel’s story, his family, and now through all of his EB brothers and sisters stories! You can’t help but fall in love! They all need our help in every aspect of EB…from awareness, research, donations, thoughts, prayers, care, etc… I hope that more can be done for these “Beautiful Butterflies”! >¡<

I think she looks beautiful.

To all you women on here trashing her looks: you’re just jealous with envy! She looks fab and you know it.

@susan—-she looks fab to you??? Get some glasses sweetie. Her face has more plastic in it than a tupperware factory. If that’s your idea of “fab”, then you’ve got issues. She was stunning before! Her cheeks look like the Joker (Jack Nicholson joker). Not jealous with envy—I can tell you that much. More so I feel sorry for her—she should have left her gorgeous face alone!!!!

Sweet article! I like how Courtney talks about David, and I hope we get to see he and Coco together soon (while there have been some pictures of Courtney and Coco together in recent months, it seems like it’s been forever since we’ve gotten a father-daughter picture!)! 🙂
