Katee Grace

Thanks for welcoming celebrity blogger Tamera Mowry-Housley!

Best known for her roles on Sister, Sister and Strong Medicine, the actress currently stars on Tia & Tamera, airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Style.

She’s also working on a novel with twin sister Tia and recently wrapped filming on GMC’s Christmas Angel.

Mowry-Housley, 34, wed FOX News correspondent Adam Housley in May 2011 in Napa Valley.

Due Oct. 30 with their first child, the couple learned in June that they’re expecting a boy.

You can find her on Twitter @TameraMowryTwo.

I can now say that I am down to the wire. I seriously feel like I have been pregnant forever. Almost 10 months to be exact! Thirty-nine weeks in and no baby yet. “This has now become a waiting game,” my OB told me.

Oh, what fun. If I have yet to learn patience, my son is in the process of teaching me now. I have learned that I am not in control and that he will decide when he comes.

However, I have not been as receptive as I want to be to his timing. If I am completely honest … at this stage, I want this baby OUT!

Thoughts of excitement, anxiety and exhaustion have truly set in. Echoes of my husband Adam‘s voice cheering me on, saying, “You can do it” keep ringing in my ear as I eagerly await my due date (next Tuesday the 30th!).

I have been very blessed to have had a wonderful and easy pregnancy. But now it has turned a corner. I’ve heard the last two weeks explain what being pregnant is really all about! I am not complaining — please don’t get me wrong — but boy, have I had my days.

Tamera Mowry-Housley's Blog: The Waiting Game
Katee Grace

Experts say only three to five percent of women actually have their babies on their due date. And women on average have their babies between the 38-41 week mark. Additionally, first-time moms tend to have their babies on the later side.

As a result I have been telling myself, “Tamera, you might just have this baby a little late.” Although I am still seven days out, I have to say I’ve already begun Googling suggestions on how to induce my labor naturally.

I don’t know about you, but sleepless nights are pretty much the norm for me now. I’ve found myself staring at the wall some evenings for two to five hours, pondering such questions as, “What kind of mom will I be?” “Do I have all my son‘s newborn essentials?” “Is the nursery efficient and safe?” “Do I have everything I need in my hospital bag?” “How will my delivery go?” “Will my delivery be three hours or 24 hours long?” “How will I handle the pain during my delivery?” “Am I having real contractions or Braxton Hicks?” “What is the difference between fake labor and real labor?” The list goes on and on.

Don’t let me forget about the five trips a night to the restroom. It’s actually become comical now. I’ve stated that at this point, you can either laugh or cry — and I have chosen to laugh!! Is it just me, or does it take you other moms-to-be FOREVER to roll over in bed just to get up and out to USE the bathroom?

I timed myself once out of curiosity, just see how long it took me to go to the restroom. It took me 15 MINUTES! My bathroom is honestly just a few feet away. And at that moment, I chose to laugh REAL hard.

Tamera Mowry-Housley's Blog: The Waiting Game
Katee Grace

Now you know some of the reasons why I’ve chosen to begin Googling natural ways to induce labor! So far I have tried pineapple juice, evening primrose oil, drinking a glass of wine, dancing, squatting and finally, spicy food. However, that is where I had a problem. Spicy food didn’t really work for me for a number of reasons. One, it gave me major heartburn and acid reflux. Unfortunately, food poisoning came along with it.

If you’re pregnant and have experienced food poisoning, I FEEL for you! It was like a lose, lose situation. Not to mention a loose, loose situation. Sorry to be graphic, but I didn’t know which way was up or down. I had contractions AND cramps all at the same time.

So, one may ask, what am I doing now? I’d be lying if I said I’m not still trying other natural ways of inducing my labor. However — in the back of my mind, I am a bit more accepting that my sweet little angel will come when he wants to. But maybe, just maybe with a little help from his momma.

What are some ways that you tried to induce your labor? Did any of them work? Leave me a comment below or send me a Tweet @TameraMowryTwo.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and I am over it myself! lol so I feel Tamera but I got a LONG way to go ((sighs))

Shannon on

Go for a nice long walk seriously! I went trick or treating with my older son on Halloween and I went into labor the next day. My baby was born 5 days early!

Good luck Tamera, whenever he arrives, you will be SO deliriously happy you’ll forget all about the wait. :)

Chi on

With my first, who is now 3, I drank a concoction of ginger root and thyme. It was gross but it seemed to work. I don’t really know if it truly worked or my body was just ready.

With my second child (born in August) I tried everything it seems–from intimacy with my fiance to eating spicy food to lots of exercise but nothing worked. She came when she was good and ready.

Good luck to you Tamera and Adam!

jmurphy on

sex, plain and simple. you might not want to, he might not want to, but it works.

Kelly on

This sounds like my first pregnancy to a T! I tried pineapple too…and walking…and everything. The only thing you didn’t mention was the “deed.” Although my husband refused once I was that far along lol. I ended up induced at exactly 41 weeks. The best you can do us what you already said… Let him come when he’s ready :) just sleep until then and it will go fast!

Michelle on

Castor oil!!! Used it twice with both previous pregnancies. Its gross but it works!!!! Good luck girl!

Jennifer on

I used castor oil with my 3rd baby. The dosage was up to 4 tablespoons so to play it safe I took 2. 5 hours later my son was born!

Mommyof3 on

I feel for you on wanting your baby out! Not to scare you but my oldest was 18 days late! I was always assuming my due date was calculated wrong. But I was DONE.

My doctor suggested many things that did not work and my last resort was the one I was in no mood for. She told me I had to have sex and not get up afterward. She was quite funny in telling me that the stuff that caused my pregnancy was the very same stuff that would cause it to be over and I would meet my daughter. So I did albeit was in no mood for it. She arrived within a day! Something to ponder.

Good luck with your delivery! I never give advice on that as to everyone is different and some stories can scare the holy hibbi gibbies out of a new Mom. You look fantastic! Can’t wait to hear when your son arrives.

Alicia on

I tried everything you stated above to naturally induce my labor and none of them worked, then I had SEX and boom my water broke the next day…..give it a try and see what happens. Good luck with your delivery and get ready to have your life changed forever!!!

kristin on

I delivered at 30 weeks due to severe pre eclampsia. I am so happy you have made it this far. He will be here before you know it!

monease on

Tamera. I was twice in the 3 to 5 percent, had 2 of 3 on their due dates. Introducing sex as a labor inducer, a lot of doctor’s will recommend that, providing that you don’t have any medical issues and your water hasn’t broken. My doctor told me that semen has in it prostaglandins, a hormone that helps soften the cervix and prepare it to open.

Outside of that, it will be to just wait and let your little one come when he is ready. I know that it is tough waiting. Look at it like this, when he becomes a teenager, you will want to shove him back the same way he came at times lol.

Sex is what made me go in labor.

eve garmback on

i had sex then went Christmas shopping had mine 4 weeks early but your baby is due on my birthday so wait till Monday for at least shopping lol

I was measuring 54 weeks when I had my twins in May. I was peeing like 50x a day and sometimes had to have my husband help me off the toilet I was so big. I was in so much pain I could hardly walk. My doctor induced me at 37 weeks and I gave birth to a total of 12 pounds of baby with a combined length of over 3 feet. I’m sure you can hang in there another week with just one.

Staci on

Get a pedicure! Worked for me. :)

I have heard cinnamon helps induce labor! Perhaps try chewing Big Red gum!

Sex! My ex-husband and I ate dinner and then had dessert! Our son was born within six hours. Twenty years later that memory still brings a smile to my face!

Caster Oil should do the trick =)

Hi Tamera and CONGRATULATIONS… My suggestion would be to do what you did to get preggers in the first place (hint hint). It worked numbers for me, a few hours later my water broke… Lol!

Brittany S on

I walked A LOT and I played all kinds of running, bowling, and sword fighting games on the wii. My water broke while bowling a strike. :) Good luck Tamera he will be here soon.

SEX!

I HAD MY SON AT 36 WKS EXACT!

I TRAVELLED FROM TRINIDAD TO NYC AND I HAD A CONNECTION FLIGHT IN MIA, WHEN I SAW MY BF I RAN TO HIM BASKETBALL BELLY AND ALL,THE CAR RIDE HOME WAS BUMPY AND WHEN WE GOT HOME WE HAD SEX TWICE!

MY SON CAME THAT NIGHT! HE IS 4 YRS NOW! :)

envyofnone on

Castor oil and sex…those are the only could-possibly-work options! I promise you will miss your belly once he’s out. I know it sounds odd, but you’ll be sitting one day and go to rub that belly and think “aww…gosh…” but then the baby will scream at you and snap you back to reality! Good luck!

Barbara on

First – you look GORGEOUS!!!! And second, sex will bring on contractions so go for it! Best Wishes!!!!

Emily on

I don’t understand the feeling of wanting pregnancy to be over…I loved being pregnant and would love to be again. I miss my little girl swimming around in me, safe, sound, and…..quiet. :o)

My best advice to any mom to be is BE PATIENT! Your baby will be here soon enough and believe me, that’s when the real work begins. It’s a blessing and a joy but man, it’s more work than you can ever imagine. Enjoy this time being free and having time to be with your husband and having time for YOU!

Good luck to Tamera and her hubby!

Phindi on

Try having sex tonight :)

Kim on

My son was 6 days late and I was totally beyond ready to get him out! I moved around some large rocks in our front yard. About 5 hours later we were in labor. Good luck! Can’t wait to see baby pics!

Carson Daly’s girlfriend Siri Pinter blogged about eating the “maternity salad” at the Caioti Pizza Cafe in Studio City and it worked! Might be worth a shot! :)

I completely understand what you are going through. I am 39 weeks also due on October 30th, the same as you, and I am OVER IT. Between the peeing and time it takes to get up to pee, and the motivational speeches I have to give myself before leaving my house each day, I am ready to be done! I even dream that I am wishing myself into labor. (Haha)

Until then I will be thinking of you as I’m also awaiting the arrival of my son. Good Luck!

Evening Primrose Oil. Went into labor the next day. Good luck!

Jill on

I am due with my 3rd little guy on the exact same day as you! I know how you feel and would love for this little one to hurry up just so I can hold him in my arms. My first was a csection, but my second son was a vbac. Before I went into labor with him I went to the park with my son, played on the swings, slide, and monkey bars, that night I went into labor and had my little guy 50 hours later.

If you haven’t already, I would highly highly suggest using a birthing ball, both now and during labor. It will most definitely help with moving baby down to help bring on labor and help with certain discomforts such as back and pelvic pain.

Praying all goes well for you and your little one. You will be a great mom just like your sister is!

Christina F. on

It sounds crazy…but it worked for me….twice. Rub your nipples. lol! I’m serious. It really did work. I looked crazy, but at that point, I didn’t care! Get this baby out of me! Before I knew it, I was waking up, leaking. I thought I was peeing myself…nope. My water had broken! Rub away Mama!

Cherie on

Have sex, as uncomfortable as it may be. That’s the advice my doctor gave me with my daughter who was almost 2 weeks late. Classic first child birth syndrome. She took her own sweet time. There is something in the semen that thins out the cervix. Hoping you have an easy and quick labor. :)

sharman on

I walked around the mall with a friend the day before I went into labor. Ate chilli that same evening at a get-together with friends. At 6:30am the next morning I went into labor and had my daughter, now 14, the next day at 3:00am. She was born on our 5th wedding anniversary.

Amy on

Tamera you are absolutely glowing!!! That little boy is going to be gorgeous.

Krista on

Go for a long walk. I was 4 days past my due date, on my way to 5 days, and there was no sign that my baby was going to make her way into the world so my husband and I went for a walk. Later that night I went into labour and my baby girl was born the next morning. :)

Summer on

Caster Oil works every time. 3 of my friends did it and had their babies within 24 hours after taking it.

Rachel on

Im seven months and two days and I feel like it’s been forever. I found out at four months and a day and I already want to meet her. I’ve had food poisoning twice, times when you sneezed and peed. However, I’ve had a semi easy pregnancy since I’ve been at risk for preterm labor at 20 weeks when I couldn’t move from the couch.

Also, It’s hard to distinguish Braxton Hicks contractions from the real thing. So far I’ve been blessed that my little girl is healthy. I’m happy for Tamera and Adam.

Calillymommy on

My mom told me that eggplant parmsean and lots of love making would do the trick! Congratulations and u are going to be a great mom!!

Castor oil and orange juice, worked wonders with both of mine. Short labors too, the first was only 8 hours, and the second was just 34 mins!!

Almost there! What stunning pictures!!

Sex…plain and simple. With my first pregnancy …I was beyond ready at 39 weeks! My water broke 6 hours later. :) Good luck!

Wendy on

I was beyond ready for my third to come but was afraid to try sex (I soooo didn’t want it for one). I had read it could make you dialate very quickly and I was afraid of having no time for an epidural.

At about 39 weeks I woke up in the middle of the night to pee and discovered I was leaking water. By the time we got to the hospital it was already time to push (labor lasted a total of about 1 1/2 hours and a portion of it was spent denying to push with no drugs).

So I still didn’t get my epidural but I have to say my daughter, almost 9 months now, was worth every bit of pain and discomfort. :)

Hope you have an easy labor and delivery! Good luck and enjoy every second with your little one.

marti on

Take a ride in an elevator .. that’s what worked for me. :)

Good luck and have a safe delivery whenever it happens.

sometimesitisbettertoshutup on

There are several things that have worked for people but only a few that work consistently.

First, as several mentioned, is sex. It really does help.

Second is the castor oil. A couple NASTY teaspoons should work.

The third is stimulating your nipples. It releases hormones that help the uterus contract and can help induce labor.

All have been listed and those are the ones that I know work from talking to maternity patients during and after labor.

On a side note, I totally know what you mean about being over it. I had both my kids early but I had ROUGH pregnancies and I was ready for them to be out! They were 5 lbs. 8 oz. at 6 weeks early and 6 lbs. 14 oz at 4 weeks early. I am REALLY glad the second didn’t cook any longer, he would have been HUGE!

Good Luck! You are gonna make a GREAT mom!

Yvonne on

Castor Oil and orange juice had both of my kids that way and went into labor twice because I got tired of the waiting game also.

Lisa on

My doc at 38 wks w all 3 of my kids stired the membrains and w in a hour i was off to hospital. I hear walking and sex can help too.

My daughter was born four days after her due date. What worked for me was a “relaxing mommy day”. I woke up early 10am went for a mani-pedi, shopped at the mall mostly body wash and undergarments, I ate anything I wanted, went home popped in my favorite movie, took a long luke warm bath with bubbles and went to sleep. 6 am success 9:17pm my beautiful baby girl was born!

Hopefully your labor is not as long as mine was. I had cervix complications but I wasn’t in any pain until it was time to push. Congrats and no worries.

Anonymous on

Sex..worked with all my 4.

mel on

With my 3rd and last child I did squats. Believe me I too was over being pregnant at the end. I did about 15 squats because I read it helps you go into labor. For me at least at few hours later my water broke with my daughter!!

Pregnancy is such a beautiful time until you get to the end and you beg for it to be over lol. Later on you will look back and wish they were still in your belly because time really does go by fast. As much as you don’t feel it now you really should enjoy everything that’s left of your pregnancy the good and bad it goes by so fast.

Good luck!!!

ATyler on

Try to enjoy this last week as much as you can, while I’m sure you’re ready for the little guy to arrive you’ll miss having the baby move inside your belly. I was so anxious for my little one to arrive the first time I was pregnant that I tried everything but in the end he came on his own time frame 2 days after the due date. I’m expecting again in November and I’m in no rush this time :) good luck!

Emily on

To be honest, with this being your first baby, attempting natural ways to induce labor might be a waste of time… super sad face, I know!! Being an OB nurse, I see this time and time again… my best advice would be to try doing things to make sure baby is in the optimal position for delivery, meaning engaged in the pelvis. If your baby is still sky high, then all your well laid plans will be for naught.

I would recommend going to the chiropractor (they are, in fact, NOT witch doctors!!) and see if they can do some work on your ligaments to help baby drop if he hasn’t already. Obviously, you want to make sure that this person is certified in pregnancy adjustments. Once baby is down, natural labor inducing techniques will usually work better, but again, it’s all up to baby! Sex is a good way to do this. How do I put this delicately… it is actually the semen that works to cause contractions, so don’t skip this very important detail! lol!

And now down to the REALLY nitty-gritty… enemas. It’s an oldie, but a goodie; a soap suds enema will also work, I know a lot of women that have had luck with this.

But my best advice, try to enjoy these last few weeks with your husband. Pamper yourself, get massages, RELAX!! Babies are very intuitive little things and are very cued in on mom’s stress levels. Again, I’ve seen so often when women finally just surrender to the process and let go of their worries and stress and PLANS, this is the time when babe makes his grand arrival. :)

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

martine on

I feel for you, girl! At the end of my second pregnancy I was DONE. 36 weeks on it was pure misery. My hip hurt, my back hurt, I was just beyond uncomfortable. The baby was 11’2 – but oh boy, was he worth all the pain and discomfort! Good luck and remember that once the baby is out – it’s pure magic.

Awwwshucks on

Someone told me to do ‘jumping jacks’. Honestly, I did a few and within 3 hours my daughter arrived. No joke!

Just Relax Love.

I have 4 Gorgoeus, I had 2 Natural & 2 C sections.

Good Luck & Enjoy Him. It Truly Is A Blessing From God.

My son was born on sept 11, 2012 right on my due date after being induced. He was 9 lbs and 6 oz and so they induced so he wouldnt get too big. However for about a week and a half I was desperate! I tried it all too including a loose leaf tea a bunch of people told me about. After 3 cups I found that the tea was a bad idea. It made me sicker then a dog. So I understand your bout with food poisoning.

The dr started inducing me in one way but that wasnt working so she had to try others. Finally I had to concede that my child was making the rules not me and I needed to let go of trying to control the situation. I am not a patient person and I prefer to be in control so letting go was hard. In the end he was totally worth it tho.

Congrats to you and Adam and good luck mama!!!

Tisha on

I took a long walk around the mall and baby came the next day!

Sheila on

Hey Tamera, my daughter, was born 8 days early and I was a first time mom! I went to see an Eddie Murphy movie on Sunday afternoon with my mother and I went into labor Monday night! I laughed her out!!! She is fourteen years old now and I could not be prouder! She loves the Lord, has a good heart, and is a great student! (P.S. Walking did not help!)

Lauren on

Well my twins were induced at 36 weeks due to high blood pressure an my boys were 5lbs each. I don’t think there is anything you can do because its really up to the baby and when he is ready but I’ve been told and find it true is that boys tend to be comfortable and I had twin boys.

My labor was 12hr for Henry (with help of the epidural) but Braden decided to stay and he was born via c-section 18hrs later. I can’t complain cause I love them an now my boys are 2yrs old and they’re fraternal twins. I decided after Braden to have my tubes tied at 27yrs old. 2 kids are enough for me but is love to adopt one day when my boys are in school.

I hope everything goes well for you and Adam and goodluck with the delivery. Can’t wait to find out the babies name :-)

Ciara on

Try eating your favorite salad with a balsamic vinegarette dressing…worked for me three times and probably do it again in march 2013…good luck!!!

Walk Walk Walk!! That brought my son 10 days early! The funny thing was that he was born the day that his father and I were due to get married! lol Now, over a year later, the timing isnt really what is important, just delivering a healthy baby is!! *blessings to you

Lay off the wine. There is never a safe time during pregnancy.

I tried castor oil with my firstborn also, after having so many family members use it with success. I drank it with orange juice. It was gross, but several hours later my water broke and I was in the hospital!

omg tamara is soooo beautiful!!! LOVE HER!!! :)

Try walking on a treadmill and then bouncing on a labor ball. It gave me strong contractions and I went into labor…2 days later. It was not immediate but I think it helped move the process along.

Lashon on

I tried the same thing with my third and it worked. You may want to also try nipple stimulation. I know it sounds a little weird but it kick starts the contractions.

Susan on

Sweetheart, you WILL know the difference between real labor and Braxton Hicks. Trust me. Also, my first one had a due date of Sept. 10. Told the doctor I didn’t want that date. He said, “pick a date.” I picked Oct. 15 and kept that in my mind. Then he came on Sept. 18. Water broke at about 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning, baby came about 10:30 Tuesday night. They sent me home from the hospital three times (I don’t think they do that anymore if your water breaks).

Anyway, by the time he arrived, I was exhausted but the happiest girl on the planet. So, just be patient, and he will come when he is ready, and try to enjoy every minute and gets lots of sleep, as you won’t be getting very much at all when he comes! The best of luck to you!

GeoDiva on

I had food poisoning at 36 weeks, so I totally understand. I was throwing up so bad, I had to be hospitalized! Also, I missed my due date by 4 hours. Just relax, because it is just a rollercoaster ride from here on out.

i agree with some of the other comments here. go out for a nice walk. maybe go shopping or something. that works. sex does too. no kidding. it might be a little uncomfortable right now but it does work. try doing both. that’s what happened to me. went out shopping for a stroller then later on that night…..you know. the very next day, my water broke 2 weeks early.

With my 4th child, I took a tablespoon of castor oil mixed it in some chili with alot of crackers and ketchup!! Then chased it with a orange soda to drown out the oil taste! By early morning I woke up in labor! It works!!! I had my daughter 2 1/2 hours later!!!! Good luck!!

Congratulations! The first time I looked in my son’t eyes I finally knew what love was. With regards to helping along your labor, nothing worked for me, but your little guy has perfect timing and will come when he is ready. Enjoy this special time in your life- soon your precious little one will be in your arms!

I went hiking (nothing too strenuous), and had my daughter the next day. She was born on her due date. and maybe someone else said this but SEX! My ob/gyn encouraged it, said it could help thin things out. But to be honest, at 40 wks preggers, I chose hiking…lol

lola on

Wow! You look so beautiful. Sad to say what got you in this wonderful situation, will get you out of it. SEX!! And it’s best to orgasm. That almost guarantees labor. Also someone else said stimulate your nipples, very impotant.

Good luck & enjoy! Best wishes and many blessings for a healthy baby and short labor.

4coconuttymonkeys on

Gently bouncing on an exercise ball while on the computer, watching tv and really, just whenever I would normally sit down… that really helped my baby’s head come down, press on the cervix and start labor. Lots of sex with propping the hips up afterwards so that the chemical in the sperm could do its work (hey, that’s how it starts, that’s how it helps in the end HA!). Deep squats. And definitely nipple stimulation.

After 4 kids, I can tell you the way I learned to tell the real contractions from the fakes. The fake ones were my whole belly and on the sides, but it felt more like it was closer to the surface, if that makes any sense. My real contractions were DEEP. Like, where I would imagine the top of my cervix to be inside my body. Internal, deep, from the middle and radiating outwards.

I hope you have a smooth delivery and enjoy immense bonding with your little one. Savor it all, it goes by far too fast.

Beth on

Walk, pizza, and sex. In that order. Mom of 2 boys 10 years apart – worked both times!

“drinking a glass of wine”??? seriously??? anyone else find that inappropriate? FASD can have an impact at any point in a pregnancy.

Spicy food, walk and of course sex. Have a wonderful and safe delivery :)

SusieQ on

Ask your OB to “strip your membranes”, this works at least 50% if the time- my OB did this the day before my due date and 14 hrs later I had my baby in my arms! Worked like a charm!!

Tia on

i know exactly how she feels i am 4 days over due and i feel like ive been pregnant for a year.

SusieQ on

Stephanie, women in Europe routinely drink a half glass or so of wine while pregnant and they have lower rates of FASD there. It’s the stigma of drinking a tiny amount while pregnant and judgemental people that drive women in NA to drink behind closed doors and hide it that is more of a cause of FASD here. There is nothing wrong with drinking a small glass of wine once in a while when pregnant.

ashley on

At 39 wks with my second daughter, I decided I had to lay 30 bales of pinestraw!!! That night my water broke! Taking it easy and being patient is easier said than done! I dont suggest anyhing heavy, but some sort of manual labor has done the trick for me!! And I think the sex helps too! But in the end, you will eventually miss being pregnant. Although you dont see it now!

How to tell if it’s false labor (Braxton Hicks)? My Ob-Gyn told me to have pony bottles of beer in the house… if I felt labor pains, he said to have a swig or 2 of the beer.. if they’re Braxton Hicks, they go away.. If it’s real labor, you’ll puke… & then you’ll really be in labor!!! Best wishes for a safe, short & uneventful delivery!!!

I’m a nurse and worked up until 5 days before my son was born, so the walking alot theory didn’t work for me. Have your doctor strip your membranes. It’s not comfortable but it works! And enjoy your sleep and showers while you still can!

2 great ways to induce labor naturally are 1.. drink raspberry ice tea . and 2.. have sex , probably not the thing you want to do now but I am telling you as I am a nurse and my husband a Dr. sex is the best way to induce. good luck and congrats on your baby to be

Take a hot shower and let the hot water run down your chest, this will stimulate your nipples, I went into labor a few hours later….

Walking & more walking – which is most likely what you don’t want to do right now. People also said “have sex”, but that’s what got you into this sister & probably is the furthest from your mind! Just take in these last few days before that beautiful baby comes, get a mani & pedi, go to a really nice dinner – because it will be a while before you get to do those things again. Get ready for the most unbelievable feeling of love you will ever have once your little man is here – your life changes forever, in a good way, of course!

Best of luck! But I have to say, you’re not almost 10 months pregnant. Women sound funny when they say that. Every 4 weeks is not one month, otherwise there would be 13 months in a year. In fact, the first 2 weeks of being pregnant are before conception, so really you are pregnant 38 weeks which isn’t even quite 9 months…

When i was pregnant with my son, I got up to go to the bathroom and as soon as I laid back down, my water broke in bed. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

I totally understand what you are going through right now. I just had my first baby on August 7th. I googled everything trying to make myself go into labor natually. My ob stripped my membranes at my 40 week check- it sounds a lot worse than it really is. All it really does is “stir up” the hormones that are suppose to start labor- it doesn’t make you go into labor unless you are really ready to.

Anyways..I went into labor early the next morning. Just cherish these last days being pregnant. Towards the end I really wanted it to be over, but now I really miss being pregnant! Good luck to you! I’m sure everything will go wonderfully. :)

As an OB, i’ve had two patients use castor oil recently. The first was admitted with kidney failure (due to dehydration) and second had placental abruption and the baby had to be admitted to the NICU. There are serious consequences to using castor oil.

HI Tamera!! I’m 37 weeks & I went into early labor, this is my third child & had the shot at 35 weeks to stop the contractions, 2 days later, they started back up. Now I’m 37 weeks & having contractions again, I’m in early labor. 1 cm dilated & 80% effaced. I’m walking a mile a day & having intercourse 2 times daily…….tomorrow is my appt so I’m hoping it’s working. And 37 weeks is full term so I’m safe to have my little boy now, lol…..good luck hun & I’m right there with ya, I’m so over being pregnant, this is my last!! LoL (((hugs)))

Love reading your blogs… I am 37 weeks with my third child., my youngest is almost eleven.. Went to see my ob today and was told he has not dropped. I may still have a couple of weeks to go but I am so anxious for him to be here. She suggested I walk more but honestly, with my last two, I didn’t see that it worked.. I still had to get induced. =o( This time around I have been doing the deed with my hubby and boy I am so blessed to know that he still sees this sexy pregnant woman.. lol But I hope it works!!

Good luck girl and we will pray that both our baby boys will be here right on time and of course healthy.. Sorry that this post is so long… xoxo

there is a tea at health food stores, i think it’s called red raspberry leaf tea, drank two cups and was in full blown labor couple hours later. I’ve also heard having sex helps, the semen helps do something but I was so uncomfortable by then that that wasn’t a good option. good luck!

I agree with @jmurphy. I did not feel sexy…at ALL! lol. But I told my husband we had to have sex because I was sooo done being pregnant, I feel your pain! And lo’ and behold, it worked! You will get through it, it’s an amazing experience. I love your blog, it makes me laugh! I have been a huge fan of you and your sister since Sister Sister. Congratulations on all of your success and soon-to-be motherhood!

Your preggo photos are beautiful! I was in your same situation. At 39 weeks, my doula suggested a pregnancy induction massage. It lasted 90min and was relaxing and luxurious after nights of uncomfortable sleep. My water broke 12 hours later! I didn’t expect it to work that quickly.

Good luck! PS, I highly suggest post pregnancy massages with certified therapists. Helps flush out extra fluids and get you feeling more like yourself sooner!

Castor Oil is risky for several reasons, and those who took it without damage were fortunate. Have sex; it may not be the best you ever had, but it usually works!

You are looking so gorgeous pregnant! These are lovely pictures of you and your husband; you look so happy!

Hope you have an easy labor and delivery. Try to just “ride the contractions”, and let it all happen. Can’t wait to hear your baby’s name!

I carried my daughter 38 weeks. I was definitely ready and decided to do something about it. I mowed the grass on the riding lawnmower over rough ground. My husband told me to take it easy and drive in 2nd gear. As soon as he was out of sight, I popped it into 5th! She was born the next day. :)

Kristi on

I tried spicy food too. But I also tried… well, sex with my hubby. Hey, I read it and was willing to try it. Something about it softening the cervix… I don’t know but you can read it.

My son was born 5 days before his due date! I was happy. But I also had a friend who’s baby came 10 days after due date, so you never know. I think you’re right, baby will come when he’s ready.

Oh, and I remember trying red raspberry leaf tea. Think it supposed to relate more to the actual labor than starting it, but read about it too if you’re in a googling mood.

Hope all goes well for all!

My water broke after I went grocery shopping. I had just parked my car, at home, when it happened. I think it had to do with all the walking I had just done. Then, I STILL walked up the three flights of stairs, to my apartment, to put my groceries away before driving myself to the ER.

My husband met me there, then we walked around the delivery floor four times. Comically, he had me listen to “Eye of the Tiger” on his iPod while doing this. We were having a lot of fun, and I guess we were being a little too loud, so the nurses asked us to quiet down.

But, to make a long story short, I think all the walking helped me move along quicky…from water breaking, to our son’s birth, only took 15 hours, still relatively short for a first-time mom. By the way, the pain is so worth it, and it seems to go away, once you see your little guy for the first time!

Good luck for an easy birth, and God bless! :)

Hi Tamera! You guys look awesome!!

Be patient, your day is coming to get that precious bundle of joy here! Enjoy it because once it’s gone with your first, it’s gone.

I have three little guys and I love them so much! I actually induced my two youngest because of one reason. I WAS AS BIG AS A HOUSE AND RIGHT AT MY DUE DATE LOL! As funny as it sounds, it was the best descision for my family. It was gruelling with the both of them up until I was able to receive my epidural (and thank the LORD for it)! Overall, a great experience! Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!

You guys make a beautiful couple and congratulations on your wonderful blessing! I hope at least one more is to follow…but for now, enjoy this little bundle!

Monica on

Tamera, none of that stuff works. Your little man will come when he’s ready, so save yourself the time honey!

I just had my third three months ago and I tried EVERYTHING to get her out. I tried walking, red raspberry leaf tea, relaxing baths, pineapple juice, sex, squats, yoga, cleaning, jumping jacks (light ones), bumpy car rides, pressure points, visualizing the birth, crawling, but no drinking wine.

I scheduled an induction as I have two toddlers and a planned delivery wouldve helped since she wasn’t coming out anyway. She came on out on her own two days before my induction. It’s tough be just be patient.

stacy h on

i did with my first and second but knew better with my third and left things alone. glad i did, she came a week ‘late’ but covered in thick vernix- a sign that she was actually on the early side. just relax and focus on getting your head in the right place. hypnobabies helped me a lot to trust my body and baby, stay calm and happy and relaxed.

Best of luck to Tamera. She looks beautiful, love that big round belly. Now that’s what pregnant is supposed to look like.

Seeing her pictures above remind me of being pregnant and even though those last 3 or 4 weeks suck (you’re so tired, swollen feet, can’t sleep) it’s still the most amazing thing ever.

For a brief second I almost missed being pregnant again…brief second. I’m over it now. LOL!

I had a pep talk with my daughter before I went to sleep and woke up 5 hours later in labor; it also snowed almost 12 inches over the next two days. With that said, low weather pressure appears to play a part in labor. Keep your fingers crossed for precipitation!

All new moms feel the same at this stage. Use this time to get as much rest as possible. You will be glad you did. (as for the walking-do it. My Mom’s doctor suggested it and she and her sister walked for 5 hours. They went back to the doctor’s office to tell her they were heading home. When my Mom sat down, she went into labor immediately. I’m pretty sure you don’t need to go for 5 hours but my Mom never did anything half way).

Castor Oil has worked for all 4 of my pregnancies! You will have rumbly guts, but at least you won’t poop on your baby during delivery! You’ll have cramps because of the oil and those cramps will stimulate your body. Sex is another way to help get things moving. I read something that said semen helps induce labor too.

Nipple stimulation… seriously! It causes contractions, not real ones but if your body is close enough to being ready it can kick start your labor. That’s how I had my first daughter.

I actually have a funny story of how I went into labor.

When I found out I was pregnant I read a story online about a bakery in Charlottesville VA that has helped overly pregnant woman induce labor with a CUPCAKE! Yes I said cupcake! The story said that there were 19 woman that had gone into labor after eating the bakery’s lemon drop cupcake.

Well I swore as time got to the end of my pregnancy that I would give it a shot. Well about midway through my pregnancy my cousin actually moved to charlottesville and I told her about the bakery. She went there (not pregnant) and said that these cupcakes are delicious so even if it doesn’t work it will definitely be a yummy treat. :)

Well at my baby shower she brought me two cupcakes with strict instructions. Eat one in the afternoon say 12pm with a tall glass of fresh squeezed lemon water (using half a lemon), and eat the other one with dinner with another glass of lemon water. So I froze the cupcakes and anticipated when the time was “safe” to try to induce my own labor.

By 37 weeks I had not progressed what so ever. I was not dialated nor thinning out NOTHING…I was getting a bit discouraged because I was huge and could barely walk and still worked a full time job!

So my husband and I decided that at 38 weeks I would give the cupcakes a shot, whats the harm right?? On the Friday after my 38 week check up (which was Tuesday) and being told that I was still no where near giving birth, I told everyone at work I was eating the cupcakes TODAY! at 12pm on the dot I ate the first cupcake which absolutely proved to be delicious even if it didn’t work.

I drank my lemon water and waited. Everyone kept asking if I felt anything and I hadn’t. I was on the phone with my mom who was flying home from a two week cruise with my dad and she was loading the plane at 1:30, we said our goodbyes and hung up….at 1:36 my contractions started….10 minutes apart.

I didn’t want to jinx it so I didn’t tell anyone except my sister since she has already had 2 children and this was my first and I hadn’t a clue what I was feeling let alone doing.

Well that continued and at about 3:30 when they progressed to 6 minutes apart I sent my husband a text just to let him know I thought I was in labor. He ended up leaving work (freaking) ordered a pizza for when I got home and got ready. I stayed at work till 5 and traveled home, still having contractions.

When I got home I ate a slice and ate the second cupcake and drank my water just for good measure. within 20 minutes my contractions started getting stronger and I decided it was time to go to the hospital. We arrived and were taken to an examination room just to see how far along I progressed and I was already at 3cm!

They ended up keeping me which was a good thing cause within minutes after being checked the contractions started to really hurt bad and I was progressing FAST!

After that my labor went very fast (of course I had an epidoral) and my son came into this world at 2:45am on September 17th 2011.

He is the 78th child to be born from these amazing miracle cupcakes! I fully intend on eating them again the next time I have a baby. :)

While pregnant with my first, my midwife told me to try castor oil, and boy did it work. The castor oil naturally stimulates your bowels, which in turn stimulates your uterus, therefore putting you in labor. Oh and you poop out everything before you get to the hospital:). Good luck!

I didn’t try to induce labour, but I was at the computer, sitting on an exercise ball, softly bouncing, and surfing the net. When I stood up, my water had broken, and my son was born less than 24hrs later.

Good luck, and may the force be with you! :)

When my daughter was a week late the only thing I found to work was Nipple stimulation. I know it is weird but i basically giving your breast a massage by doing a bit of kneading. When I was pregnant with my 2nd child – I was in mild labor for over three days with not much progression BUT since my first child was born natural they wanted me to wait as long as possible unless they could see there was a risk to my or the babies health. I had to go back and forth to the hospital twice a day to be checked out (they would not just keep me) and finally one of the doctors told us to go home and have sex…WHAT?? ….I am having contractions 5 minutes apart for three days….I am not in the mood for SEX….but after another 6 hours I gave in and did the deed and sure enough about 2 hours later my water broke and we were on our way – at least my husband was loving and caring about it thru it all.

Erin on

Walk, walk, walk! And then have sex! It’s super uncomfortable and seems more like a chore, but do it! My husband and I went to our state fair and walked around for about three hours, came home, had sex, I took a bath and my water broke 15 minutes later! My son was born 12 days early (I was due Aug 30 and he was born the 18th). If you have sex to try to induce labor and it doesn’t work, at least you have gotten it in a time or two before you deliver – after that you can’t do it for 6 or so weeks (not that you really want to!).

A little advice I have for managing the pain during your labor: when you go to the hospital in labor, ask the nurses and/or your doctor if you can walk around instead of just sitting in the bed. That will make it seem like you are there forever. After my water broke, we went to the hospital, got checked in, they put in my IV line (but didn’t hook it up to the machine), and I walked up and down the hallways with my husband for four hours. It really helped with my pain to keep moving (although I had to stop for the really hard contractions, lean against my husband and count until they were over). It also helped me dilate from a 2 all the way until a 7! At that point, I was ready for my epidural and delivered my son an hour later. Like I said in the beginning, walk, walk, walk!!

Jay on

A birthing ball is a great way to practice labor positions and also can promote it as well. I had my 2nd daughter 3 weeks ago after sitting on a birthing ball for about 3 hours and rolling around. Admittedly I was at work and had to get up and walk around occassionally during that time, but it worked! My water popped like a balloon! I didn’t even get a chance to eat the spicy Indian food I had ordered for lunch. Either way just keep doing what you are doing, the baby will come when it is ready and from my experience as a nurse, boys are the hardest on you while on the inside and easy as pie on the out! Good luck and God Bless you and your growing family.

Hi Tamera! Honestly, nothing worked for me. I too thought that I was going to be preggers 4ever! My munchkin is 6 months now, and she was definitely worth the wait. But when it got down to the last few days before my due date, I was so excited. I thought ok, this is it, she’s finally going to be out, I’m going to be a mommy. Um, yeah that didn’t happen. Girl, my due date came and went. And of course as a new mommy you start to second guess yourself. Ok the experts say that most new moms don’t deliver on their due dates, yadda, yadda, yadda. I’m thinking geez I hope there isn’t anything wrong. Naturally, of course there wasn’t, but I felt like this kid is starting to make a permanent home in there.

And yes, we tried a little bit of wine, pineapple juice, sex. Which if you think about it may have been a little counterproductive seeing as how I was already with child. Haha! Sex, my friend told me should definitely help in getting the baby. Was she wrong or what? I was still pregnant. All of the many ways to induce naturally just didn’t work. My Harper wasn’t going to come unless she was good and ready it seemed. Finally at my 41 week mark, my doctor says to me, “I think you’ve been pregnant long enough. Let’s get her out”. Yay!!!! The heavens heard me! I was induced the next morning, and was a mommy that afternoon. I think the whole process of being pregnant definitely teaches you patience and understanding. Thinking positive also helps. At least it did for me. It was a wonderful experience. From the sound of it you’re having a wonderful experience as well. Hang in there and good luck, you’re almost there. Trust me it only gets better from here :)

Sorry to be so blunt…but sometimes sex will help. I am not a raging sex-a-holic but my husband and I did have sex towards the end and I think that contributed to my son coming–actually early. Probably like…enough of this…I’m outta here. :-)

But I think overall they come when it is time. You are absolutely beautiful preggers by the way.

Cathy L. on

Hi Tamera and Adam. I’m so excited for the two of you to meet your son! You’re such a wonderful couple. Okay, so when I was pregnant and wanted to naturally induce labor, I drank herbal raspberry tea – no sugar, maybe a bit of honey to sweeten it. It helps to contract the uterus and it will bring on labor. It will also help the uterus to contract back to its normal size after having your little man. Praying that you have an easy labor and birth.

Gorgeous pictures. Congratulations.

I tired everything for both my pregnancies and lots of it. And nothing worked! I even had my membranes stripped! NOTHING. I was three days late with my first and five with my second.
So like most everyone else has said, enjoy these last few days of alone time, lounging (quietly) about and getting what sleep you can. Because soon enough he’ll be here and you’ll be overjoyed… and very sleepy. :) Good luck!

a real mom!! so nice to have a star verbalize how i felt all 3 times. however, i loved labor and parenthood (most days!). to be labor was the final feeling of accomplishment and the knowing you’d see your baby soon! good luck to you! oh, and my last one was 10 days late, despite all my natural attempts. they show up when they are ready!

Sex worked for me with both of my pregnancies! 1st was 3 days early, the 2nd was 2 weeks early. Good Luck and God Bless you Both :-)

Tommy’s Burgers(cali only)… I ate there and went into labor 4 hrs later… Combo of a little spice and grease put me in L&D. Good luck.. wishing a happy healthy baby boy!

Well, I can only tell you what worked for me. Have your husband give you a good foot massage. I assume you know there are pressure points in your feet and hands that can induce labor. I had two of my children on their due date after trying the message. No matter what day your baby decides to show up. THAT WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. “God bless you and your new little miracle”. Byeeee!

Tamera and Adam you both are very beautiful people. I love you as a couple and i now love you more as a married couple. Just for some reason I am loving you two more than Tia and Corey. I love me some Cree Cree!. Can’t wait for your little bundle of boy get here. Blessing to you both!

WALK, WALK, WALK….go up and down the stairs!

Best of luck! I just discovered Tia & Tamara and I love to watch the show. You are two beautiful women! I wish you all the best in the new arrival!

Nipple stimulation will work if you don’t want to do the whole deed. :-) My four girls came on the date my grandmother told me they would. She added four and a half months to the date I first felt them move. Best of luck and can’t wait to hear his name!

I went 41 weeks to the day with my son (now 2yo). The day before I delivered I had an appointment and my dr said if I didn’t deliver soon they would have to induce me. I had heard some stories about that and asked what option 2 was. She said, she could strip my membranes (stripping membranes). Well I took that option and 7am the next morning I was headed to the hospital. 12hrs later our son was born… Once your over due see if that’s an option for you! Good Luck & many Blessings!

Beautiful portraits, have to say the first is a fave. You are a beautiful family and can’t wait to see your little boy! Enjoy each moment, it REALLY changes once the baby is here!

All the comments below are about how you can induce labor..well I am not a mother so I do not know. I just wanted to post a comment saying I LOVE you and your sister! You and Adam have a great relationship. I love watching your show. Your laugh is very contagious! Good luck in your birth process. Cannot wait to see pictures of your son. Congratulations!

Hi Tamara. I couldn’t be happier for you and your husband. I did long walks with some hill.

Kara on

I used a mini stepper for 50 minutes and my water broke 3 hours later. Coincidence, maybe, but I’d do it again if I ever got pregnant again.

Cohosh.. Black or Blue COHosh will natural induce labor. I was 44 1/2 weeks when I was induced with my 1st one.. and I thought NEVER again. I had a homeopathic Doc who gave me some cohosh under my tongue (with the second) and he was born less than 12 hours later.. took some with my third and exactly the same thing.. It makes the uterus contract naturally.

Mindy on

Nothing will bring a baby before they are ready, so settle in. Remember that this child is an awesome gift, worth waiting for. Enjoy every moment of this, each day is special and unique, and there will times after the baby comes you will long for the simplicity and dearness of this pregnancy. Don’t rush these moments as you would not want to rush them after he arrives, you will be glad for it many many years from now.

Been there Mama! on

Congrats!!! I tried everything too, but there are pressure points in hands and feet that begin contractions. Go to foot reflexology and have then work those. Also, get a massage from a therapist who knows how to work those points to get the ball rolling. It worked for me and my sister. Don’t do the castor oil… Yuck and it can make you really sick and still not work! Best of luck with your final stage of your journey :)

I was told Balsamic Vinegar would do the trick. So I had a salad. My 10 lb. baby boy came a few days later. Did it work ? Who knows, hahahaha

My doctor at 39 weeks stripped my membranes at my weekly checkup. My daughter was born the next day. I have talked to a few of my friends who had the same thing done. All went into labor that day or within a day. Hope that helps.

Tracey on

I made my boyfriend drive really fast over speed bumps at a community college. About 6 hours later I was on my way to the hospital to deliver my 11 pound baby boy!

Cas on

I completely know how you feel. I started looking up ways to induce labor around 38 and a half weeks… I walked a lot which I think definitely helped. I walked 10 laps of our yard almost every night for the last two weeks of both of my pregnancies. And also sex. This might be TMI, but the semen actually relaxes the cervix a little which helps to start dilation, as long as you’re close to being ready though.

My daughter (who is 3 and 1/2) was born on her due date at 12:12 in the afternoon. My son (who is 1 and 1/2) was born at 5am the morning after his due date. My doctor was pretty accurate! Lol

Lil on

My sister was back and forth to the hospital every single day and I was so sad seeing her go with swollen ankles and all of the other things that pregnant women have so I googled it myself. After a lot of reading we tried castor oil. She was already 80% effaced and 3cm but she’d be that for days. She was in intense labor within 4 hours. She was admitted into the hospital at 1am and she gave birth at 9:30am to her first child.

However, everyone I’ve talked to sleeps even less after the baby comes although they complain about sleeping right before giving birth (I don’t have kids). So, the best bet may be to let him come on his own time.

Good luck! I know he’ll be absolutely adorable!!

VG on

If you or your hubby are not into the whole sex suggestion, you could be intimate without “doing the deed” so to say. Nipple stimulation will also work. It sends off the hormones/neurotransmitters in your body that will start contractions. If you plan to breastfeed, you’ll feel your uterus contract while your son is feeding (it happened to me). You can stimulate or your hubby can, either way, you’ll get the same result – your baby :) Good luck with this new chapter in your lives!

pedrn on

Nipple stimulation worked twice for me. My water broke both times like 6hrs later. Had my first 2wks early!

Sex, and pineapple juice. That’s what did it for me. Not gonna share my labor and delivery stories cause I really don’t want to scare all the mommies out there. Trust me it was worth it though.

I had mini contractions on Oct 31st 2011, I was 39 weeks and 6 days , went to the doc and he said about another week. Ofcourse the older generation (mom, aunts, mother in law) said walking would help. So that night I walked for 2 hrs trick or treating with the fam! Got home at midnight and was awaken an hour later with REAL contractions, My son was born Nov 1st 2011 on his due date!! I’m one of those 5 % of women that gives birth on her actual due date : )

I am a massage therapist and can tell you that there are specific pressure points on your foot that can induce labor. Find a good reflexologist to massage your feet. You will feel amazing AND maybe even get your contractions going ;-) It is a gentle, non-invasive and natural method! Good luck and congratulations!

Simone on

REFLEXOLOGY! There are certain pressure points on your foot that can induce labor. It is a gentle, non-invasive and natural way to get those contractions going. The Egyptians already knew about this and the Chinese have been practicing it for centuries. Find a good reflexologist, enjoy your foot massage and see what happens. Good luck and congratulations!

Walking is the best. It’ll also help for a smooth labor. My mom also gave me an oldfamily recipe, basil tea, tastes horrible but in combination with walking my water ruptured that night. Worth a try i thought.

I feel your pain. I had a baby girl last November and tried every safe thing under the sun. Ultimately babies come when they are ready, LOL. I hope you have a swift easy labor. Can’t wait to read all about your son in People and see his cute pic. He is coming from a good gene pool. LOL

Jacqulynn on

My son was 1 day overdue and that’s because I went home and had sex. You may not want to do it, of course being 9 months pregnant, who wants to think about sex, but honestly a nurse told me to try it to help break the water bag, and it did, I was in labor deliverying my son the next day. Good luck!!!

LInda White on

I was feeling the same way with my son. I walked A LOT! I also tried nipple stimulation. I had a friend tell me about it and it seemed to work. Be careful with the nipple stimulation because the contractions can become too strong. Remember to eat a good meal before going to the hospital because once there you are restricted and first time babies may take a long time. Good luck and congrats!!

Michelle on

Sweet Tamera, my two cents are to just enjoy these last days or minutes of the positives and don’t even try to speed up the delivery. Your little one will arrive at the perfect time for him regardless of what you do or don’t do. I’m a mom of 3 boys (5,3,1) who tried it all with the first, water broke too early with the second, and my 3rd was 10 days over due.

My best advice is to let the pampering happen and just enjoy these last precious days of incubating your son….you’ll actually miss them…crazy I know. So pamper yourself and have others do it for you too! Once a newborn arrives the pampering disappears. So soak it up now girl. :-) Love, Hugs, and easy labor vibes!

Theresa on

With my third child, I honestly felt the way you are feeling now. I decided that I would try to coax this baby out by walking. I walked up and down my street to the next cul-de-sac on minimum three times a day, more when I was feeling up to it. She came six days early.

Good Luck to you and your husband, I am praying for you!!!

For my second child I went to a amusement park, not thinking got on every ride went home had sex with my husband went into early labor thought if i walk it would stop we all know it didn’t how in Decemember she’ll be (30),so. bottom line want w its his time he’ll come GOOD LUCK. YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL.

I was 7 days over ( which seems like a year each day) I jumped on the trampoline, Just one of the exercise ones and picked up a friends little girl (you could use cree) and walk around the house with him. That night I went into labor.

Tamera I LOVE your blogs they are funny YET, so true. I am the mother of two sons (soon to be 19 and a 17 year old). However, my oldest due date was October 30th so this is too familiar and….YES my husband and I tried natural remedies to “start” labor.

My favorite is walking up and down stairs, while he stood at the bottom with a stop watch and motivating words of “You can do this baby, keep going!” WELL the truth is…….our son didn’t come until HE was ready. Actually, I remember having a conversation with my OB telling her that every evening, I would take a soothing bath, eat a warm meal and lay down listening to music with a blanket just covering my belly (because I was constantly hot). I can recall her laughing explaining to us that perhaps it was I that was causing the delay of our baby delivery with all of my daily rituals. Her exact words were, “Can you blame him/her for not wanting to come out after all that pampering and warmth?”

My Grandma use to say, “God has sympathy for fools.” Well long story short. Our beautiful healthy 8 lb/1.2 oz. son was born on November 5th after 12 hours of induced labor, which finally ended up in a cesarean delivery only because he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his little hand.

Jacq on

My Grandmother used to say ” What got you into this mess, will get you out of it !” (meaning sex, LOL)
She had 7 kids, she knew what she was talking about!

Tennille on

Tamera, first off congratulations! You and your sister are awesome role models and I have been a fan for years. To the topic, I have to blushingly agree with the other moms. If you want to induce labor, invite Adam for a little romp in the bedroom :) Seriously, I have four kids and labor started for three out of four that way! My youngest is 26 months and I distinctively remember doing the deed and the next morning I was having contractions driving my two oldest girls to school! Anyways, congrats again!

Wendy on

Caster oil…I know it’s gross and it tastes every bit as bad as you think but if you chase down a couple of tablespoons with a cup of hot tea you won’t be disappointed with the end result, I went into labor a few hours afterward and by the time I got to the hospital I was already 4 cms dialated…Good luck with the baby and I hope you have an easy and enjoyable labor and delivery!

Hi Tamera! We have the same due date – today! Had my doctors appointment and it’s not looking like my baby boy is planning on making his arrival very soon. I walk everyday for at least an hour but nothing. I think I just have to accept that he is on his own timeline. Hope you are still feeling well and that your man makes his appearance soon! :)

MJ on

Hi Tamera, Every Oct 12th is a special day for me because that was my firstborn’s due date. Although she did not actually make her appearance until Oct 22nd, I still think about that day with some emotion too. Of course during those extra 10 days she stayed in my belly she gained a ton of weight and came out weighing almost 10 pounds! God’s blessings on your little one and your wonderful journey of motherhood to come!

My baby came a week to the day early and I just knew he would be a week late because, “everyone always says the first is late”! It’s true they come when they want to. Enjoy your pregnancy…ur almost done and it really does go “so fast”!

Brianne on

Castor oil! My grandma tried it with her second child (my aunt) and it did the trick!!!

Janae on

I wonder if you are still pregnant. :-)

A couple thoughts to share:

Be extremely cautious with castor oil. It might work but it is not without risks. Personally, I would not use this method of induction.

Sex is going to be the safest way to help make progress.

Squats and/or sitting on an exercise ball. It helps the baby move down and also get on the cervix.

Good luck and congratulations!

Raini on

I laugh at your blogs b/c I remember those last weeks very well. Getting out of bed becomes an Olympic sport, I would get on my hands and knees and crawl out backwards. (luckily we don’t have night vision as humans) Rolling over makes me winded too, i just laugh at myself like you did. Try to laugh at everything you can, makes life so much more enjoyable.

I’ll tell you the 1st big laugh we had as parents b/c I’m sure you will experience it as well at some point. The 1st time my husband changed a poopy diaper on his own, alone in a room, my friends heard a scream. I asked if he was ok and he says NO! with panic in his voice. I make my way, rolling my eyes thinking what could possibly make you scream like that, is this what each diaper change will be like? Ugh is all I could think. I come to find that my son wasn’t finished “doing work” and had gotten it on my husbands arm, all over the changing table, my sons clothes and when my husband lifted his butt up higher it rolled all the way up his back and almost to his neck. LOL!!!! Needless to say we looked at each other and laughed really, really hard. It was quite the mess but was also hysterical. We learned to use a cloth diaper on our changing table, in addition to the cover, to catch any “debris”. Maybe that will help you too.

Either way enjoy every moment b/c they do grow fast!

mimi on

if people were having sex right next to me (or on top of me!), i’d want to hightail it out of there too.

no wonder so many people say it induces labour!

To say I understand 100% what you are going through is an understatement! I am 7 months along with my fourth baby, 3rd pregnancy, had beautiful twins last year, have a wonderful 13 year old and was surprised to be pregnant again this year, while taking the pill. God surprised and Blessed us all over again!

What worked for me in the past was walk, walk, walk, take breaks as needed. And sex works as well. For me now since I’ve been pregnant for 2 years lol, I don’t want to do neither, lol so I understand if both these tips do not sound physically doable.

Take care, I’m sure your little man is gonna be here sooner than you think. God Bless!

Heather on

Sex!! A man’s sperm is designed to impregnate and soften the cervix, so it can begin to thin and open!! All of us who have already given birth know EXACTLY where you are at!! That last month is THE WORST!!! Hope he is here sooner than later and that L&D is smooth and easy for you both!! Best wishes!!

It is Monday, Nov 5th…please tell me you had the baby. If not, try eggplant parmesan with lots of oregano and basil. If you are getting close to or past your due date you might be looking for some easy ideas to bring on labor. One restaurant in Cobb County, Georgia, eggplant parmesan may be just the trick to help get your baby’s show on the road. Scalini’s Italian restaurant in Georgia has almost 300 baby pictures lining their walls and all of these babies were born shortly after eating their restaurant’s eggplant parmesan dish (I am not on the wall but I tried it). The secret to their recipe may lie in the ingredients. Basil and oregano contain properties that may stimulate contractions. Does it work to bring on labor? I don’t know for sure, but it was absolutely delicious and I went into labor the next evening.

Saphire on

Castor oil and walking. It worked for me.

Hi Tamera! Ima fan of yours :) Congratulations on your baby. I would say try taking hot baths as hot as you can take it and just sit in them until you cant take it anymore lol. Then try having sex or hanging upside down against the wall. Well i hope this works.!!

Tamera I heard that Carson Daly’s girl had this anti pasta salad from a place that is known to have helped several women go into labor including GF. She ate the salad and I think went into labor the same day. I’m sure you can get the info from him. When I was pregnant I was told the same thing by the girls that worked at my OB’s office. They swore several women had gone into labor by eating anti pasta. I wasn’t into the anti pasta thing at the time cause I was so sick with a terrible cold. I eventually just got induced but give it a try! Good Luck

My secret, sit relax and think about starting a project. Next thing you know the baby will come. It’s sort of like hoping for a long red light so you can get something done in the car, the lights always seem shorter.

On another note, I think Tamera and Adam are the most adorable couple I have ever seen. The love and admiration they exude is so palpable it fills their space. I see longevity and happiness in store for them because it is so genuine. Good Luck and good love!
