Mommy and me style!

Going on another coordinated outing, Selma Blair lovingly watches over her 14-month-old son Arthur Saint as they don matching shirts during a day at the beach Thursday in Los Angeles.

“I never want to leave his side. I’m one of those hovering mothers and I know it’s really important to have an independent child, so I’m trying to back off, but it’s hard,” the actress, 40, told PEOPLE.

Blair is rumored to have reportedly split from Arthur’s father, fashion designer Jason Bleick, whom she began dating about a year before announcing they were expecting their first child together.

That baby is so beautiful–every time I see a picture of him, I just melt. To see that his parents have split already while he’s still so young saddens me.

Sometimes a couple will split up after the arrival of a baby. I have seen it when the man feels less wanted by the woman. The man feels less attention than before the baby.

Sad to hear about the rumored split. I’m hoping that they’re just going through a bad patch and will get back together!

Sad to hear of the split – but they weren’t married….not surprised. I know marriage isn’t bulletproof….but getting married symbolizes a lifelong committment – somebody you can see a future with – including kids. Being together as boyfriend/girlfriend + then having a kid usually ends in disaster/split.

Mia, the high divorce rates in this do not suggest that marriage won’t end in disaster split either. It is ridiculous to assume that if this couple would have been married they would have stayed together.

carla- I agree. I’d even venture to say that, in Hollywood, a marriage is just as likely to end in a split as a partnership!
