PBS Debuts New Kids Show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood

For more than 40 years, the lovable Mister Rogers delighted us with his signature songs and visits to his whimsical world of make believe. And now a younger generation will be treated to his successor: Daniel Tiger, who will be asking his preschool pals “Won’t you be my neighbor” with his own cool new animated show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

Featuring nostalgic nods to the original show (including the mini red trolley and Daniel’s red zip-up sweater), it’s centered around the 4-year-old cub’s daily life as he deals with disappointment and overcoming everyday obstacles from a deflated soccer ball to smushed snacks.

My daughter LOVES this show! It’s really cute and has great little one line songs that we sing all day.

GREAT show!

I have 4 3 year old boys, a 4 year old boy and a 20 month old girl at my house every day, and this show is a 30 minute kid quieter and the kids are actually gaining a little knowledge by watching it.

I have never let my kids watch TV before (they are 4 and 2). When I heard about this show, I was enchanted. Maybe it’s the tiger singing and tossing his shoes like Mr. Rogers. But I love it. THEY love it. And it offers me and them specific strategies for coping with new feelings. I realize this sounds like a commercial, but I have now been following this show’s development on the PBS webpage and I love what they are doing with it! Mr. Rogers is back (in spirit)!

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
