Jessica Simpson Reveals Post-Baby Body

Jessica Simpson‘s hard work has paid off.

The new mom, 32, was all smiles on Monday when she sat down with Katie Couric on the debut of Katie, where she revealed her post-baby body.

“On my way to @katiecouric’s show! I’m her very first guest – Wish me luck!! #WeightWatchers,” she Tweeted before the big reveal, also sharing the photo at left.

Just weeks after welcoming daughter Maxwell Drew with fiancé Eric Johnson on May 1, Simpson embarked on a weight-loss plan with Weight Watchers.

Announcing that she’s lost more than 40 lbs. since giving birth, Simpson tells the talk show host, “My doctors told me it was a lot of water, and when my water broke … All the weight did not come out with the baby. I had to stay focused on my diet. I want to be as healthy as I can because I’m a mom now.”

Simpson adds that she is currently 10 lbs. from her pre-baby weight, so moving forward, “I set small goals for myself. I’ve lost weight every week, thank God, but I’ve worked really hard. I have to shoot a new season of Fashion Star.”

A new outlook on food has helped.

“The only fish I ever ate was a fish stick,” Simpson says, adding that she also loved chips, guacamole and queso. “Now I’m trying to eat fish.”

She adds, “I definitely don’t pick up the magazines. I definitely don’t Google my name. I try to avoid it completely. But I subconsciously know the talk is going on. Every day it’s a struggle for me. Weight Watchers is not intimidating. It’s not a diet. It’s a lifestyle.”

Simpson, who admits she “put on more baby weight than I was planning,” isn’t ashamed of her former body.

“I have to separate myself from the world’s expectations,” she says. “I have to look inside myself. I want to be a role model.”

The new mom gave fans a sneak peek of her new figure when she was snapped by paparazzi on Sunday.

“I think anybody who’s gone through a pregnancy, after they have the baby, it’s like, ‘I need to do something about this,'” she told PEOPLE at the time. “For me, I really want to do something that is a lifestyle, because in the past, I’ve been known to yo-yo diet.”

Even though Simpson is getting her body back now, that doesn’t mean she’s rushing to slip into a wedding gown.

She and Johnson “have not set a date,” Simpson tells Couric. “It won’t be this year. We haven’t had time. Maxwell has taken up all our time and I want a big wedding.”

Of her hubby-to-be, Simpson shares, “People call him the best dad in the world. He can do everything. He’s just a very peaceful person.”

40 lbs in 4 months?!?! wooooow, so good for her!

Y on

Yeah she is also not breastfeeding, so it is easier to lose that amount of weight in a small amount of time…

Emily on

She said she BF’d for 3 months.

Jessica looks great. I know she’s really polarizing, but I enjoy her personality and interviews.

laurenscrazydreams on

I lost crazy weight breastfeeding and put zero effort into it, but I know it can be the exact opposite for a lot of women.

She’s doing a great job.

Y on

It is really not healthy to lose more than 1-1.5 lbs a week while breastfeeding…

Steph on

She looks great! Expectations are too high for moms to lose weight after having babies. I was always so emotional in the months following birth….the healing, the breastfeeding…too small for maternity clothes, but too big for my own clothes. If the weight was put on by food- regardless of whether you are pregnant or not, its hard to lose!

here’s other pictures…

She’s still huge, if she has lost 40 pounds and is still that big, she must have been well over 200 lbs

kaitlyn on

Good for her for taking the steady approach to losing weight. Not sure why she chose to release an obviously photoshopped picture of herself when she went on tv and proved she’s nowhere near that skinny.

Julianna on

I love Jessica Simpson and am so happy she’s dropping the weight in a healthy way… But this dress isn’t flattering to her body. The skirt of it makes her hips seem larger.

People are horrible. Anonymous, I’m talking about you! No wonder women feel awful about their weight after giving birth. I’m not saying that Jessica didn’t put on a lot of weight (she says it herself in the article) but losing 40 lbs. in 4 months is a HUGE accomplishment and though she may have a little way to go, she looks great! Stop being such a downer.

And Y “it is easier to lose that amount of weight in a small amount of time…” when you’re not breastfeeding? I’d beg you go talk to all of the mother’s who couldn’t or didn’t breastfeed and had just as difficult a time taking off the weight and plenty of moms who breastfed and lost weight quickly. It all depends on the person.

Jessica said she breastfed for 3 months so unless she lost 40 pounds in a couple of weeks, she lost a good portion while she WAS breastfeeding.

Anonymous – I think she looks quite good in the link you posted, it’s just that her boobs are so huge that they make her look bigger overall.

You go Jessica! Btw, I think her face is gorgeous!

I’ve always respected Jessica Simpson. She’s a normal woman who doesn’t claim to be perfect–just doing the best she can. It’s sad that so many women trash her. I don’t understand the glee that women seem to get by putting her down. We will never move past the “weight conversation” if we don’t start supporting each other.

It is not my place to judge Jessica or any other human being on their appearance, particularly not on weight, which is such a sensitive issue. I do, however, have a bone to pick with hypocrites!

Why would Simpson release a photo that is so obviously photoshopped?! It completely goes against every interview she’s done in recent times in which she talks about accepting herself as she is.

Look at the left side of the photo, where her hand sits on her waist. The pixelation around her hand, and the extreme and unnatural curvature of her body are both a dead giveaway that someone has retouched her image. She did the same in her “Mummy” photo where someone gave her a waistline where she had none. This is particularly infuriating because in both instances, the singer/entrepeneur gave the impression that the photos were au-natural, perchance taken by a friend or relative, offering a more personal look into her life; the antithesis of those big magazine-cover photoshoots that are infamous for retouching.

It’s all along the lines of what her sister did by giving an interview about how young women should love themselves just as they are, only to have a nose job weeks later. This is why I have such a tough time believing anything the Simspon clan ever says. I really wish someone would oust them…

Wow she looks great! Trainers, cooks or household staff, it’s got to be hard to loose that weight with a newborn. People need to lighten up and give her a chance to loose the weight. Most moms take longer than this even when they watch their baby weight. Go Jessica!

She is looking so beautiful! Vanessa must be green with jealousy, jessica will always be better and 100x more gorgeous!

Xan — the jagged edges (pixelation) in the photo around pretty much every area where the black meets a bright color (not just her left hand — look at her right hand, hair, the purse on the couch, etc..) occurs in pretty much all photos that have been changed to black and white or cropped too closely in black and white without softening. If you look at the photos from Jessica and her husband out and about in the same dress it’s pretty clear she didn’t attempt to make herself appear thinner. She’s doing this for weight watchers it would be pretty easy for the media to gather photos of her any day of the week if she were faking her weight loss.

Rachel- He’s her fiance’, not her husband. 🙂 I agree with the rest of your comment, though.

Anonymous (the poster before “Rachel”)- Why should Vanessa care what the woman who her husband divorced SEVEN YEARS ago is up to?! Sorry, but people bringing up Nick and/or Vanessa in Jessica/Eric posts or Jessica and/or Eric in Nick/Vanessa posts is a huge pet peeve of mine!

It also makes me feel bad for both couples. I mean, I sure wouldn’t want to be constantly linked to my ex (or my partner’s ex) from several years ago!

Anonymous on

Rachel- Exactly! For some women, breastfeeding is actually a very helpful weightloss tool! Speaking of which…Did she happen to mention why she stopped breastfeeding after three months?

I have to admit that I’m surprised she stopped so soon, since she debuted Maxie in PEOPLE, she gushed about bfing her, even saying that she hated it when she had to let Eric give her a bottle of pumped milk!

Anyway, I think she looks great! And sadly, I think the reason some people are saying she’s still “huge” is because we’re so used to seeing celebs who are stick thin. Not everyone in Hollywood is a size 0, people!

Mia on

I just think it’s ridiculous that she got a huge weight watchers deal + most people don’t get the luxury of the endorsement that she does……BS.

NickyAngel on

she looks wonderful

It’s amazing how all those hateful comments can kick you in to high “lose the weight” mode. She looks great! I’m sure she’s got a few more pounds to go and she of course has to deal with her large nursing boobs-can’t do much for that at this point- but she has worked really hard and it shows. Good for her and what an inspiration to other women.

Anonymous on

She is doing great with her weight loss. I did weight watchers after my third( and last baby) it is a fabulous eating plan. I lost 50 pounds in about 6 months, and nursed another 6 months after that. Weight watchers takes breast feeding into consideration in their program, so no worries about that.

People constantly ask me to tell them EXACTLY what I did to lose the weight.

Well, it is the laws of science. More calories must be burned than go in. Eat less, and exercise. It takes dedication, but once you become dedicated, it is not that hard!!

She looks super great job jessica!!!!!!!

Jessica on

Jessica, you look great! Congratulations to you and your fiance on your gorgeous daughter. I loved seeing you yesterday on Katie, you are just so fun to listen too and watch. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family. Good luck on your journey, I know you can do it. It sounds like you have great support and the right motivation – to be healthy for that pretty girl. And Dolly is right, she is pretty just like her mommy! Blessings!

Jennifer on

Totally photoshopped. She is a whale and always will be, but worse than that, she’s a complete idiot who should have her mouth taped shut. But then again, how could she eat those buttered pop tarts she loves so much? Moooooo!

Brooklyn on

I think she looks great, excpet for that dress! I think she could’ve picked a cuter one!

Anonymous on

Sandy- I’m with you on the nursing boobs! As someone who’s naturally large in that area, I definitely feel her pain!

Sandy on

I love Jessica- as she is “real”. So she gained a lot of weight? Better than seeing all these super skinny pregnant models/actress that hardly look pregnant. Anna Paquin just had TWINS and she hardly looked pregnant?! Jessica looks great- and I’m sure she’s gonna look fabulous when she loses the last 10 pounds. Then she can flip off all you mean posters sitting at home with your own weight to lose.

Ariel on

I think Jessica looks great. She wasn’t a size 0 prior to being pregnant, so I don’t know why people expect her to be one now, or so soon after.

Sandy- Anna didn’t “hardly look” pregnant. This site just never posted any of the recent candids of her.

Anonymous on

Ariel- Thank you for posting the link to those photos of Anna. She looks perfectly normal for a woman around seven months with twins in those (apparently, someone else from True Blood said that she was 5 1/2 months along when they finished filming in late July) to me!

And even if she HAD barely looked pregnant, some women just carry small! It makes me feel bad when I hear people harping on women for “barely looking pregnant” when in most cases it’s just the way their body is built and they can’t help it!

Similarly, some women can’t help getting really big during pregnancy (before anyone says anything, I’m not talking about Jessica here. I’m well aware that she’s admitted to indulging more than she should have while pregnant.) because of how their bodies are bult and programmed.

What a lovely corset. Squishing it all in there…
