An expectant Melissa Joan Hart celebrated a third charity baby shower for her upcoming delivery surprise Wednesday –- this time with a cake decorating party on the Upper West Side.

The Melissa & Joey star, 36, visited craft emporium Make Meaning with about 20 friends from Connecticut, where she lives with husband Mark Wilkerson and sons Mason, 6½, and Brady, 4.

Guests enjoyed in mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa, frozen sundaes from the Soft Serve Fruit Co. and indulged in GODIVA chocolates.

In lieu of gifts, guests brought diapers to be donated to Baby Buggy, a charity that assists families in need with infant essentials.

“Melissa was super happy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “She is so down-to-earth and it was very chill. It had a very suburban feel — un-Hollywood.”

So nice to see someone like her donate to charity for her baby shower instead of trying to see how many Chanel and Baby Dior items she can get. Classy lady and absolutely gorgeous through and through. Congrats on the new baby!

She has a big bump there but it looked much bigger in that orange dress from a week or so ago! Looks like she is almost due with that baby! Cannot wait to find out if she is having a girl or a boy and the name because I love the names Mason and Brayden! Wishing her a healthy baby!

She looks ready to pop! When is she due? I can’t wait to find out what she’s having, and the name she chose for her child.

Julianna: She’s due mid-September.

Marilyn- When did she say that?

Also meant to add that if you’re going by PEOPLE’s due date calander, that’s just a guess. When a celeb doesn’t announce their due date, they just put whatever seems to be the most logical one, going by what the celeb HAS said (e.g. “I’m in my second trimester now”).

She’s awesome!

My family was having a ‘friendly’ debate about how many showers a person should have. We all agreed that one is appropriate, but my brother said they got enough clothes, diapers, toys, supplies to last their daughter for 3 years (And, he wasn’t exaggerating. They got a tricycle, a sleeping bag, etc.) I thought that was overboard.

Then, a week later, I read a Dear Abbey or Miss Manners column asking the same question. She said showers originated as SMALL gatherings, with the guests bringing SMALL tokens for the baby.

So, it just astounds me that many celebs on this blog are having such elaborate parties for their second and third kids.

It says it on People’s baby calendar.

She seems sooo sweet! Best wishes to her and her family. Excited to see what she will have.

I think that an expectant mom can have as many baby showers as they please and someone doesn’t agree/like then simply don’t attend. The 3rd child is just as important as the 1st or the 2nd!!

Sara… please. Just shut up.

#1 – This shower was for charity.
#2 – Lots of people think it’s perfectly fine to have a shower for each and every child. Why should only the first be celebrated?
#3 – Keep on judging. I’m sure Melissa will be devastated. (not)

K on

How many baby showers does one need for the 3rd child?
