Looking for great children’s style for a steal? Invest in comfortable, well-made school clothes. Avoid synthetic fibers and flimsy constructions — no child can focus on the blackboard in an itchy, ill-fitting outfit. Comfort is the first priority!
Choose classic pieces that can be layered for multi-season wear. Stock up on T-shirts, turtlenecks, button-downs and cardigans to mix and match all year. Understated, timeless styles make for the best school pictures, and comply with most dress codes and uniform standards. Plus, they retain their appeal as hand-me-downs for younger children!
Try a few trends. Fall favorites include the statement coat (think re-imagined classic styles like the perfect peacoat or quilted parka in high-end fabrics and precision-cut silhouettes), letterman-style sweaters and polo shirts with embroidered logo crests for boys, and graphic patterns like polka dots and stripes for girls.
Have fun with color. Purples and reds are really big for back-to-school this year, and it’s fun to mix-and-match hues. Colored denim continues to be popular, and so are colored leggings, which are extremely versatile and a must-have for autumn.
