The littlest rascal has arrived!

Jay DeMarcus and wife Allison welcomed their second child, son Dylan Jay DeMarcus, on Friday, July 20 in Nashville, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The baby boy arrived at 4:02 p.m., weighing in at 7 lbs., 11 oz. and is 20½ inches long. Allison, 35, and Dylan are “doing well in a local hospital,” the rep tells PEOPLE.

Although DeMarcus, 41, was in Detroit for a Rascal Flatts performance Friday, he flew to Nashville just in time to welcome his son into the world.

He returned to Detroit hours later for the show — and didn’t have time to take off his hospital scrubs beforehand — but plans to fly home to his family as soon as possible.

Dylan joins big sister Madeline Leigh, 19 months.

DeMarcus and his wife — a CMT personality and former Miss Tennessee — married in 2004. They announced the pregnancy in January.

Was at the Rascal Flatts concert in Detroit last night and he told the story of his crazy day-he was in scrubs the whole show too! Still amazed he made it back for the concert, but it was wonderful! Congrats to the family!

raindrops on

Sorry, but he didn’t have time to remove the hospital scrubs? Why not? They simply go on top of your clothes.. He couldn’t take them off first before heading out of the hospital and to the airport? Sounds like someone wants attention..

YAY!! Congrats to them!

raindrops – Just shut-up

Deserae on

Raindrops–it doesn’t work the same everywhere. I’ve had 3 babies and my husband & mom both changed into scrubs to be in the room and had to remove their clothes to wear them. Anyway, weirdo!

Congrats to this wonderful family!! :) All the best to Jay & his wife!

Wonderful news! CONGRATULATIONS to this lovey family!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jillian taylor on

absolutely love the names of this celebrity’s children! why can’t other celebrities name their children “normal names”? congratulations to jay and his wife!

Marky on

Congratulations to this precious family! Love the name! They are in for a fun ride with 2 so close together; 2 of mine were almost 16 months apart and they always had fun together. Had 3 in exactly 4 years and they always got along well; entertained each other and played great together, and are still close as adults.

I hope the same for the DeMarcus family; enjoy every minute!

Maybe he was so excited he wanted to share his joy with the fans, so left his scrubs on. Never heard of scrubs going over your clothes, and I used to work L&D. When it was my turn to wear them for a family delivery, I had to change, and very quickly, at that.

Raindrops, your name suits you; no need to find something to complain about where none exists. RF fans love their band like they were favorite cousins!

When you say Madeline, it sounds like Dylan at the end. So, I like both names but I don’t like them as sibling names.

Another Rascal Flatts baby! Congratulations to Jay and Allison!

Tigger on

He could’ve changed on the plane and still told the audience that the baby was born. But congratulations to Jay and Allison

Jan on

Congratulations to the DeMarcus family! Wonderful news!

And yes Raindrop…if you can’t say anything nice to someone then don’t say anything at all. Didn’t your mother teach you anything?

Yikes on

why couldn’t it be a girl?????

Beth Kendrick on

Congrats to Jay and Allison. I saw them last weekend in Houston and got to meet Jay, who is one of my idols, and he was such a great man. I love the flatts ans could not be happier for them! Jay loves his fans and him flying back and fourth shows his dedication to his fans! We love you Jay and congrats again!!

Congratulations to the happy couple on the birth of their new baby boy.

RAINDROPS – maybe he was so in the moment, he forgot to remove the scrubs. BTW, what the hell does it matter.

I’m happy for them on their new arrival.

I’d advise you RAINDROP to stop reading People if you have nothing but negative comments.

RAINDROPS, I see you haven’t commented at all. You must feel like such an IDIOT. BAHAHAHAHA

donna on

congratulations on the new arrival….but i keep waiting to see them announce the ending of their marriage like so many other celebrity couples…just saying…

sullyjo on

People are so negative to something so nice as the birth of a child….geesh….why would you be waiting for them to break up? They’ve been married since 2004–not like they got married last year!

@chelsea–it might be pronounced MadeLINE not MadeLYN…or they were coinciding names…either way, it’s their children, I think they are nice names…

Anyhoo–congratulations on your second child, all the blessings to you and your family and to all reading this as well….

Sarah M. on

Congrats to them! Love both kids names!!

Sullyo- I saw a video Allison did not long after Madeline was born. She pronounced it ‘Lyn’, not ‘Line’. Not that it matters, though. With the stress on the name put on the first syllable, not the last 2. :)

nic on

congrats to them! and i love the name! i’m partial to traditional names myself. what a trooper mom is having a baby while her husband is on tour.

Rach on

Aww congrats! I am a huge Rascal Flatts fan and have been waiting for this announcement! Their daughter is adorable so I’m sure their son must be too! Congrats to the whole family!

roadapplescarclub on

Awww, congrats to the happy family, I imagine this baby is just beautiful, looking forward to seeing the pics!

LJ on

Like it matters that he left his scrubs on??? Is that what you are taking from this article? The scrubs? No wonder I never bother reading these comments. Geesh.

Cortney on

Congrats on the baby boy! Has Jay lost weight? Looks a lot thinner in the face ..

Anonymous on

Congrats to them! I must say, though, that it saddens me that he went back to the tour pretty much right after the birth (obviously he didn’t stay at the hospital that long if he still had his scrubs on!). His family should be his priority now, not his work!

Marky- Not only are there removable scrubs, but they’ve been around for quite awhile. There’s a picture of my dad in his scrubs after my delivery, and you can tell they were made of a paper-like material and went on over his clothes. In otherwords, they were disposable scrubs, which I actually think is kind of clever. :)

Anonymous on

I also meant to say that I love that Dylan has his father’s name as his middle name! :)

Jen on

God bless this family, so happy for them. My older boys were 17 months apart. Blessings to them.

Jennie Daniels on

actually 1st anonymous 22d july, jay had to return to the tour. he has a contract to fulfill. if he didn’t return, he would’ve been held in breach. i’m also sure he has some integrity, so he didn’t want to leave his fans in the lurch. they are his family’s bread and butter.

Anonymous on

Congrats to Jay and Allison. Had to mention though, that Jay isn’t his real name, so baby Dylan has daddy’s nickname as his middle name. Stanley Wayne is his actual name. :-)

raindrops on

Congrats on the birth of their baby. Just one think and not trying to sound mean, why couldn’t he change out of the scrubs on route to the concert? He could have put on his other clothes in the airplane bathroom..

Anonymous on

Congrats!

Anonymous on

raindrops- Probably because he’d just become a dad for the second time and therefore changing out of his scrubs was the last thing on his mind! Also, it’s entirely possible that he forgot to take his other clothes with him when he left the hospital (or even left them there with his wife on purpose. If I had other clothes waiting for me on a tour bus, which he presumably did, I would have done the same thing! One less thing to have to worry about!) and therefore COULDN’T change into them on the plane.

At any rate, why doe it even matter that he still had his scrubs on? Is it really hurting us any?!

Lisa B on

Awwww…Now they have one of each. Congrats to the happy family! They seem like a refreshing, grounded family in the midst of so much dysfunction! :)

Becky on

I’m not a huge Rascal Flatts lover, but congrats on the new baby..Love both children’s names..Why is it such a big deal that he kept his scrubs on? I thought people went to a concert to hear the music, not to judge what the performer was wearing…Geesh..

Leslie on

Because it’s kinda show-offy, that’s why.

Lauren on

Some of u people (haters) need to give the guy some credit he risked missing a concert to be with his wife and newborn son and i cant imagine how many phone calls he made to be on that concert in time and he made it to that concert thats what matters. Imagine u were in his footsteps that night u would be stressed out exicited and nervous too. it doesnt matter if he changed his clothes or not its not about that. changing his clothes were probably the last thing on his mind then. All that matters is that he was able to make it to that concert and be with his family on that night. And u probably didnt realize this but he made it to the concert for u his fans. Ask yourself this if he didnt care about u (his fans) do u think he woud’ve even been at that concert at all.

Congrates jay demarcus
