Disagree with the breast feeding and nut allergy study. Having had four kids myself and exclusively nursing them for 2.5 years each. None of my children have nut nor any food allerglies. Like with all studies take then with a grain of salt!

While I agree that some studies are flawed (and this one may be), but you can’t say “well, my kids don’t have allergies, so this study is a crock.” That’s called anectdotal evidence.

I agree with meghan. I’m not saying that I believe that there is a link between breastfeeding and nut allergies, but you can’t say that there isn’t just because your kids didn’t develop one. I would take it with a grain of salt, and would still breastfeed my future child, but it is something to pay attention to.

There is a link between secondhand smoke and asthma in children that has been proven. My grandmother smoked constantly around my mother and her siblings and none of them developed asthma. It doesn’t mean there isn’t a link- she was just fortunate that her kids were healthy despite her poor decisions. I’m not trying to compare smoking to breastfeeding at all, just saying that you can’t discount something just because it isn’t true for your family.

mary, ever heard of anecdotal evidence? your experience alone mean very little in the grand scheme of things.
