Baby is here — and it’s a boy!

Lisa Loeb and husband Roey Hershkovitz welcomed their second child, son Emet Kuli Loeb Herskovitz, on Friday, June 15 in Los Angeles, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Emet weighed in at 7 lbs., 7 oz. and is 20 inches long. He joins big sister Lyla Rose, 2½.

“We’re so happy to have a sweet, healthy baby,” the singer, author and eyewear designer, 44, tells PEOPLE. “Lyla is excited to be a big sister!”

Loeb wed Hershkovitz, 33, a music production supervisor for Conan, in January 2009. She shared her experience by blogging her pregnancy for PEOPLE Babies.

“Everyone asks how I feel … well, honestly, I’m so tired. Seriously. It’s like getting jet-lag randomly, and I feel the baby’s head just getting lower and lower,” Loeb wrote last week.

Congrats and welcome, Emet. I can’t to read about him and his arrival, and his big sister’s reaction to meeting him.

ruby on

Wow, 11 years’ age difference. I don’t know if I could marry a man 11 years younger or older than me.

Anyway, congrats on the healthy baby boy!

Diane on

My husband is 8 years younger than me..i didn’t see him and say oh he’s younger than me..i’m going for him!!..he thought i was younger than i was..i’m going to 50 and people think i’m 30..who cares!!…she doesn’t look 44 at all!!

Congratulations on the baby!!!

christa on

Kuli not good.

Jen on

Lisa, congrats on your boy, enjoy he and his sister. They don’t stay babies long enough. God bless your family.

Jane G. on

EMET = Truth
KULI = I am all

If indeed it is in Hewbrew.

poopsa on

Oh course she is tired she is almost 50.Sorry have the kids in your 20s or 30s

Grandma on

Ok. Every name must have 4 letters. Got it. But… Emet Kuli? Really? John Luke. Evan Mark. I could go on all day.

Melissa on

Poopsa (that name, really?) go crawl back into your hole.

Grandma – Lisa and Roey are Jewish, and as Jane mentioned, the names are Hebrew and have a lot of meaning.

Congratulations to you Lisa! Can’t wait to hear about your experience and hopefully meet Emet in your next blog. Take it easy and enjoy your new bundle!

thinkb4posting on

@poopsa You’ve obviously never had children. It doesn’t matter how old you are, pregnancy makes you tired.

SusiQ on

I’m always happy to hear someone has a healthy baby; welcome to the world, little boy. But. . .seriously. ..who IS Lisa Loeb? and to the two ladies commenting on age, well, I was happily married to a man 16 years older than me for over 30 years and lost him to death and am now dating a man 13 years younger than me who SERIOUSLY wants to marry me!! go figure. . .

trish on

Gosh, why do people care what someone names their baby? It’s THEIR baby, so just be happy for them! Get a life and then “live and let live!” 🙂

Michele K on

My boyfriend is 22 years younger than I am… It’s been working for over a year. If it lasts forever or 10 more minutes, I am blessed to have had the experience! Stop hating!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME POOPSA!!!!!!!!!!! Have you ever thought that she tried when she was younger to have children. Have you ever thought that maybe she couldn’t have them. That was just a stupid comment.

I am 40. I tried and tried and tired to have children when I was younger. It didnt happen till I got older.

Marky on

Congratulations to Lisa and her family on the (finally! LOL) arrival of Emet! Can’t wait to see his pictures, and ones of the family together. Lovely name and very meaningful; I expect it’s even more meaningful to them!

“Poopsa” and “Grandma”, shame on both of you for your hateful comments. Names are very important to families and often have deep personal meaning or are family names honoring those the parents deeply loved.

I, for one, am tired of people getting on here and being catty in a way they would never be in person. These bloggers, esp., read the comments and how dare you show your lack of manners and class by attacking her. You aren’t “stating your opinion”; you’re just being rude and hateful in a way that surely you wouldn’t be face to face! Can we please bring some civility to this site?

Lindee on

My husband is 11 years older than me. We have 3 children together. We has successful careers, raised a family and are still together. AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MATURITY. As someone has already proven.

Melissa S. on

Congratulations on your new addition Lisa. Don’t listen to the negative–you have too much positive in your life to be grateful for. Wishing you much happiness and health! 🙂

EJ3 on

Poopsa, I’m 42 and pregnant with my third and I feel GREAT!!! I am sure I will have my tired moments just like with my first two kids who I had in my 20’s then 30’s. You apparently have never been pregnant and probably shouldn’t be.

Breck5 on

@Poopsa…I’m 36 weeks pregnant, 30 years old, and I am EXHAUSTED. What a dumb statement. Oh, and I have a 2 1/2 year old just like LIsa, and by the end of the day, pregnant or not–I am beat. Times have changed, it’s not 1955 anymore. A baby is a blessing regardless of Mom’s age. Get over yourself.

So happy to hear that a 44 year old had a baby.

Gives me hope that someday I will have my own 🙂

Alice on

Hey, Poopsa, since when is 44 almost 50?

Tammy on

I just have to sit here and laugh at all the name haters, who post as “guest” or have (what I consider) weird screen names…Emet Kuli obviously has 2 very loving parents who put much thought into naming THEIR children. Congrats to the Family.

stacey on

What kind of a name is this. Awful.

Alicia on

How is it pronounced? Like Emmett?

Lisa on

His name actually reminds me of the Emmett Kelly figurines that my grandma used to collect, so I’m kind of partial. 🙂 Congrats!

cn tower on

Thanks Alice — I am the same age and was deeply offended 😉

Kerry on

My husband is almost 9 years younger than me; I am 40 and he is 31. I have a 20yr old and an 18yr old from my deceased 1st husband and my current husband and I have a 2yr old. Life sometimes throws you curveballs, never thought I would decide to have a child later in life.

It took her a while to find someone to marry, therefore she had her children late in life. It is her choice, not any of yours. People need to quit being hateful.

Congrats to you Lisa on your many blessings.

meghan on

Poopsa, by your logic 33 is almost 50. Grow up. Your name says it all.

Christa, want to know what else is not good? Your grammar.

Congratulations Lisa! You are a blessed woman to have a loving husband and two healthy little ones!

meghan on

Stacey, I’m pretty sure it’s Hebrew. try learning about other cultures before you mock.

Just Anna on

I was pregnant and had my baby at age 40. I worked till week 36 (my baby was born at week 37 (by doctor’s instructions). I returned to work when my baby was 20 days born and I felt fine. I don’t think age has to do with being exhausted during pregnancy or not.

What it is important to say is that Lisa has been lucky to have healthy children, that’s all what a mother wants when she is pregnant, at least, in my case that was the most important thing. And I can write a book on how I struggle to have a child, did everything I could/afford and finally God blessed me with a beautiful and healthy daughter. I wish all the the women in the world that want to have a baby that their dream come true.

Stacie on

stacey- I assume you’re not Jewish and therefore have no concept of what the names mean. I’m also going to assume you don’t know Lisa or her husband personally and are just some sad person who feels the need to put down people whom are of a different religion than you. That about right? I think it’s a great name especially with its meaning. Congrats to the whole family!

annie on

I agree 44 is really old! it is close to 50! all you old defensive mothers relax!!

Julianna on

I’m sure Lisa’s glad her little boy is finally here. Congratulations to the entire family on the birth of Emet.

Leslie on

Annie honey, you might consider laying off the exclamation points while demanding that other women relax. Although I appreciate the irony, it makes you sound ignorant.

Congrats to Lisa and her family. She is blessed to have two healthy beautiful babies.

meghan on

oh look, annie can’t count.

Rae on

First off, let me say that I am a fan of Lisa Loeb’s and congratulations to her and her family! However, I hear the name Kuli and think “did she just name her son ‘butt’ in Spanish”?

Rae on

Oh, Jane G. Thanks for clarifying. If that is true, his name is beautiful.

anna on

I think Emet is okay name, though Emmett is much nicer spelling. Kuli means something really dirty in my native language so I don’t like it at all as a part of a one’s name.

Rachel on

Congrats to her! Some 40 year old may feel and look younger than alot of 20 or 30 year old. I for one had my first baby at 34 and I want baby #2 soon, but I am always tired. For me, I wish I had children in my 20’s, but I did not have anyone special in my life then. I hope to have one more before I turn 40.

Congratulations Lisa, on your new baby! May your days be filled with joy and happiness. Bless your new little one, he is truly a wonderful gift. Enjoy.

Maya on

Jane G – nice pickup! Emet Kuli -> “I am all truth” – beautiful and so original – sounds totally American!

Mazel Tov Lisa!

Mallory on

Aww, another celeb baby born on my birthday! For years it felt like there were no celeb babies born on June 15, and now 2 years ago there was Tiffani Thiessen’s daughter Harper and now Emet. Yes, I am a dork, but this makes me happy haha. Congrats to the family!

Clairesamsmom on

What kind of name is poopsa? So happy for Lisa and her family….I bet he’s adorable!

Lau on

Congrats to Lisa and her family! Personally not loving the name, though the meaning (if it is the one stated on one of the first comments) is great.

Bree on

Congrats to Lisa, Roey and Lyla!!

While Emit is not a name I personally would choose, I LOVE the meaning and Emet Kuli Loeb Herskovitz sounds so musical and traditional, I just love it 🙂

Tanya on

Congratulations to Lisa, Roey and Lyla on baby boy Emet! Very happy for them!

Lisa looks great! She looks at least 10 years younger her 44 years.

torgster on

OK seriously now – has anyone actually ever SEEN Lisa in person? Because my God how can she be 44? She looks soooo young and cute, like a darn teenager practically! It’s unreal and unfair lol. Anyway, great news about the healthy babe and all.

annachestnut on

I had my children at 35 and at 39.5. It worked out that way for me. I would have preferred to have them in my 20s but just did not work out that way.

Lily on

My husband is 12 years younger than I. Believe me, people cannot tell (unless they know us personally) and I haven’t had a smidge of plastic surgery. The only people who have ever given us a problem about it are jealous, bitter women, one of whom called me a cradle-robber and said I should marry someone older for “stability.”

My husband is well-educated, successful and darn gorgeous. We fell in love and weren’t looking for a specific type, age, hair color, yada, yada, yada. It just works and we’ve been together 14 years. He’s a wonderful husband and father. I have people, young and old, tell me they envy our relationship. And that former coworker of mine? Well, her older husband (who had left his first wife for her) left her for an even younger wife, so there went her “stability.” So let’s just put that whole cougar/cradle-robber mindset to rest, shall we?

Now, regarding the baby…I love the meaning of the names they chose, but the names do not have a pleasant ring to me. Regardless, he’s their child and I’m happy they have a healthy baby boy.

MiB on

Congratulations Lisa, Roey and Lyla! I think the name Emet Kuli Loeb Hershkovitz has a nice flow to it and the meaning is lovely.

Holiday on

Congrats! I think Emet and Lyla sound nice together.

Kasee on

Clearly those who think 44 is so close to 50 did not learn the rules of rounding up and down in school. I’m no mathematician, but 44 is actually closer to 40.

Secondly, for those saying she’s too old, you are obviously not aware of the fact that it took Lisa a bit longer than most to get married. It happens. Not every woman meets the love of her life at 18 or 25. I think finding the person that you’re actually supposed to be with and have children with BEFORE you reproduce is a bit more important than the age at which that happens.

h ur sch on

She just gave birth, one of the most special things that could happen in one’s life. Whether you know her or not, whether you like her/her children’s names or not, or whether you are married to someone older or younger, just be happy for the birth of this baby and the happiness their family is experiencing now. People are so catty – Voice your cattiness somewhere else!
