Vanessa Lachey: Nick Has ‘Pregnancy Dad Syndrome’

Nick Lachey has promised that he’ll be a hands-on dad, even before his new baby arrives.

That promise extends to pregnancy symptoms, too.

“I’ve been lucky, knock on wood, so far – no morning sickness, no anything,” Vanessa Lachey, 31, said on Live! With Kelly Friday, adding of hubby Nick, 38. “He’s got Pregnancy Dad Syndrome.”

“I’ve read about this,” she continues, “He’s got the cravings, he’s got gas. He’s like, ‘I feel bloated, my back, my feet.’ He’s had me rub his feet!”

“That’s just old age, baby,” Lachey (who’s apparently been craving chili), interjects with a laugh.

So what does the dad-to-be have to say for his pre-baby symptoms?

Jokes Nick: “I just want to be part of the experience, too.”

Vanessa Lachey is the co-host of the ABC show Wipeout which is on during the winter and summer. The summer version is returning in June. This is either the fourth or fifth year of the show. I am sure Vanessa does other things besides work and talk about her pregnancy. First time mom and she is excited.

I love hearing them talking about the pregnancy! I’m not kidding, if I didn’t know who they were, I wouldn’t know they were celebrities by how they talk. They sound just like any “normal” couple anticpating the birth of their first child! Also, Kelly seems to enjoy having her parents-to-be guests practice their skills with dolls. She did it with another celebrity not all that long ago, too, if I’m remembering correctly.

Yeah, I know a friend of ours was pregnant and he even had morning sickness. When their baby was born, it went away.

Sometimes it’s sort of obvious the celebs already know what they are having when they say, Oh, I hope I have a boy! (or v.v.)” I think they already know what they are having, and that’s why she said that. You can find out so early now

If she does have a girl, there will be the “poster wars” about “Vanessa’s baby is cuter!”, or “Jessica’s baby is cuter!”, or comparisons about the names or whatever; the list is endless. I hated to see Jessica and Nick divorce, too, but it’s over and move on…… Everyone’s baby is cute, and names are personal to the parents. Love some of them, hate some of them.

This couple seems happy and I wish them the best with their new baby!

Marky- You’re right. If Vanessa and Nick DO have a girl, it’ll be Suri vs. Shiloh all over again! In fact, it’ll probably be even worse, considering that Maxwell’s mom and baby Lachey’s dad were once married to each other (whereas the only “connection” that Suri and Shiloh have is that all four of their parents are some of the most famous celebs on the planet!).

Now I’m almost hoping they do have a boy!

Jeez no one needs to steal Vanessa’s thunder..first time mom’s love to talk pregnancy..but you know what it never ends, I love to talk about my 3 1/2 yr old son..I had to wait till 38 to be a mom so I’ll brag away. I truly hope they chose a normal name..but not my decision!
