It’s so sad that so many babies are born suffering withdrawal symptoms. I’ve met kids who were born addicted to drugs and many had lasting effects. Withdrawal is horrible for adults, so I can’t even imagine how awful it is for a newborn.
As for the six year old boy, no child should be kicking anyone, whether they are an adult or a child. I think that charging him for battery may be a little extreme, but it will more effectively teach him a lesson about violence than just punishing him. It happened before, and obviously the parents didn’t do enough to teach him a lesson because it happened again. He is obviously out of control, and probably dangerous to the other kids. It may be better for him in the long run to have to face serious consequences.
