I’m torn on the reborn doll thing. My husband and I lost our first baby 7 yrs ago and we purchased a reborn doll made to resemble the baby. It was nice to have something tangible to hold and undress/redress but I’d never take it further than that.

Pretending it’s a real baby and taking it out is something I’d never do. But I don’t know what those women are going through either.

I hate articles about doctors and what they supposedly won’t tell you. Sometimes it is okay to doubt and second guess doctors, but that is ONLY when you get a gut feeling. Other than that, trust your doctors. They went to medical school, not you.

I’m sorry, but those Reborn babies creep me out. The fact that those women treat them as real babies, well, it is extremely odd. And a little sad.

Maddie, I agree with you. I have not lost a child, but I have lost young cousins and a nephew. Non of my family members have done the doll thing or would ever do this. There are many ways to remember your child. I think this is a very strange and sorta creepy way.

Maddie- I agree. I think they are very creepy!

It’s one thing if you have lost a child and have one made to remember them. It’s still a little creepy, but it makes sense. However, to walk around with it and pretend it is a real baby is really bizarre and kind of scary. When my grandfather was in a nursing home, there were some older women who would carry around dolls and dress them up because they had the desire to nurture something. However, those dolls were not realistic looking and they weren’t trying to pass them off as real infants. These reborn dolls are just creepy, especially the way they fuss over them as if they were real babies.
