Please welcome our newest celebrity blogger, Josie Maran!

The face of Maybelline for years, the model, 33, has also dabbled in acting, appearing in Van Helsing, and reality TV, where she took a spin on Dancing with the Stars.

In 2007, Maran established Josie Maran Cosmetics, her own natural product line. Since the launch, the Argan oil-based skincare and cosmetics have been the recipient of various industry awards.

Expecting her second child in July, Maran currently lives in California with her husband, Ali Alborzi, and their 5½-year-old daughter, Rumi Joon.

You can find her on Facebook and on Twitter @josie_maran.

This is a perfect time to start writing to you, dear PEOPLE peeps. You’re catching me at a huge moment in my life. My daughter Rumi Joon is growing almost as fast as Josie Maran Cosmetics (JMC), the business I started when I was pregnant with her.

The eco-movement is growing as people all over catch on to the need to protect our precious planet, which makes the future look really bright — and makes me really happy.

And my belly is growing, too! In July, my husband, Ali, our daughter and I will welcome our second child into this beautiful world.

I bet I know what you want to ask me: Is it a boy or a girl? Well, we love to be surprised. And I really can’t imagine a better surprise than meeting this little person who’s going to be at the center of our lives forever! We’re looking forward to welcoming our new little munchkin.

Here’s an intro to my lovely little family:

ME: Born and raised in Northern California, I love to have a good time, go on adventures, invent new ways of doing things, cook, go to new restaurants, play frisbee, learn, ask questions, give, have picnics on the beach with my husband and daughter and create healthy amazing cosmetics to share with the world.

ALI: My husband, my best friend, my business partner and the best papa in the world! We met in 2004 at a Cirque du Soleil party and it was love at first sight. He teaches me so much and loves me perfectly every day. I can’t wait to see him tickle two kids at once.

RUMI JOON: Our 5½-year-old daughter. She is the most curious, happy person I know. No sitting back in life, just full of courage to take on the world. She loves to play in the dirt and collect rocks and crystals, but she is also a girly-girl who likes to do my friend’s makeup.

Rumi’s totally excited about being a big sister. She’s hoping for a little brother. I’m just happy I get an eager little helper. 🙂

It’s so touching to me when she puts her head on my belly and talks to the baby. The cutest thing is when she blows on my bump to make funny noises so the baby laughs.

There’s so much to appreciate about my life every single day, and I make a big point of taking time to smell the roses and noticing how lucky I am. I never want to take that for granted.

Expecting for the second time reminds me of my fun “start up JMC” experiences during pregnancy number one. I spent the whole time belly-deep in makeup and packaging samples and shipping boxes, making big decisions while I was under the influence of all those crazy hormones.

Luckily, my husband is my business partner as well as my life partner, so I never had to do the heavy lifting alone, literally or figuratively. Throughout this pregnancy, too, Ali and I are making decisions and doing things together — whether it’s finding the best kindergarten for Rumi Joon, dreaming up new and exciting expansion plans for JMC, or planning our family’s relocation to Pennsylvania for the summer.

In the Maran-Alborzi household, it’s all for one, and one for all.

Speaking of “all” — stay tuned for updates on my growing belly and my growing family. I’ll be checking in as things develop — right up to and beyond the birth of baby number two.

I look forward to sharing this whole miraculous motherhood adventure with you!

— Josie Maran

cute lady, but couldn’t she of chose a little bit nicer of a shirt for a picture that was going to be seen by so many?

Maria on

Stacey, who cares? It looks comfortable. Sad that between the clearly happy photos and the sweet blog, that’s what you picked up on.

Josie, welcome to CBB! So happy to have you onboard and looking forward to your stories and photos. I have to tell you, I picked up your argan oil probably three years ago now and it’s completely changed my hair. Love it.

And damn girl, what a husband you have there! 😉 Lucky lady.

Rumi is really cute! From the pictures I’d say she looks a lot like Ava Jackman.

What a beautiful family! I remember reading that she had a homebirth with Rumi. Is she planning another one for this baby?

Josie and family — beautiful. All the best with the new baby!

Did she have to plug her business so much during this blog? Sheesh! Almost every paragraph included a reference to it! I want to hear more about real pregnancy issues – like fears about how to manage with two kids, worries about the extra baby weight.

I have no idea who she is, but I like reading baby blogs, celebrity or otherwise. She sounds (and looks) adorable, and I look forward to hearing more. And I’m in love with her daughter’s name.

And if I looked that good in that kind of shirt, pregnant or not, I’d wear it for every photo too.

Her makeup is fabulous

Love that you are honoring your husband’s Persian heritage with such a beautiful name. Like many little Persian girls I grew up having “Joon” attached to my name, just like my 4 year old does now!

Josie is the best. Excited for the new addition. xx – Gdiddy

I’m sorry, is this a pregnancy blog or a cosmetics advertisement? I don’t recall other bloggers talking about their careers, etc. nearly as much.

Hannah on

Congrats and cute pictures! You don’t always have to be wearing a ball gown to create a nice family portrait.

A few of the posters here must have short memories, or just like to be negative. Most of these bloggers mention their career – that’s part of the concept to share how they deal with motherhood, careers etc – it may be that other bloggers have a different career (actors, musicians).

Liz on

she seems like a really nice person and she has a cool vibe. plus, if you read her blog or facebook, she’s super down to earth. she may mention her line, but maybe she’s just passionate about it?

Sue on

Love her cosmetics, especially her serum foundation and cheek tints !

Crystal on

Are her products tested on animals? I don’t see anything on her site stating they are cruelty free….caring for the earth, also means caring for its creatures.

Jemma on

Crystal, if you look on her website, there IS a cruelty-free icon on the main page in the bottom right corner. also, her packaging does have the same icon. i checked!

Crystal on

@Jemma Thanks! Not sure how I missed that….guess I thought she would advertise that a little more on her site. Thanks

I hope Rumi June always retains that sense of playfulness, curiosity, and creativity that is so often crushed from a girl’s spirit by adolescence. She’s adorable and I’m sure your new bundle of baby will be,too!! Love you on QVC, btw!!
