Another lil’ rascal!

Jay DeMarcus and his wife, CMT personality Allison, will welcome their second child this summer, the Rascal Flatts bassist’s rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The new addition will be a sibling for daughter Madeline Leigh, 13 months.

“This was definitely a huge surprise, but we’re so thankful and excited that Maddie is going to have a brother or sister,” DeMarcus, 40, says. “We’re really gonna have our hands full!”

Adds his 35-year-old wife, “Jay and I are thrilled about completing our family. Madeline is going to love having a sibling and we are bracing ourselves for the many sleepless nights ahead.”

The couple were married May 15, 2004 in Nashville, Tenn.

Brittany- Jay doesn’t NEED a boy! In fact, if you click on where it says “daughter Madeline Leigh” in the article, it takes you to an article with her first photos…where he is absolutly gushing about having a little girl, and how he was thrilled when they found she was going to be a girl. So it seems as though he loves little girls and would be perfectly happy with another one! 🙂

Sorry if I sounded snappy, but it just irks me when people say men NEED sons (or that women NEED daughters). That just sounds like such an old-fashioned way of thinking to me!

Anyway, congrats to them, and I hope that this pregnancy and birth is a little smoother for them (in the article with Madeline’s first pictures, they mention that Madeline wasn’t moving around as much as she should and there were some concerns about her heart rate, resulting in her having to be born via emergancy C-section at 37 weeks)!
