Jessica Capshaw Expecting Third Child

Eugene Gologursky/WireImage

The Grey’s Anatomy baby boom continues.

Jessica Capshaw and Christopher Gavigan are expecting their third child, she announced via Twitter.

“It is with profound happiness and sheer delight that @Christopher_Gav and I can say that another sweet Gavigan baby is on the way!” the actress, 35, writes. “We are thrilled,” her husband adds.

Capshaw and Gavigan, founder of The Honest Co. and former CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World, are already parents to children Eve Augusta, 14 months, and Luke Hudson, 4.

The baby will be the latest addition to the Grey’s family — Sarah Drew expects her delivery surprise on Jan. 24, while Eric Dane welcomed daughter Georgia on Dec. 28.

Yay, wonderful news :) Congrats :)

- Sandra on

LOL, what is in the water on the GA set? Shonda said on Twitter that this is the 10th cast member baby!

Congratulations to them and so excited! Wonder if this means another Calzona baby.

I love her on Grey’s!! Congratulations!!! Thrilled for her!!

- Katie on

Wow… Seems like their last baby , Eve was just born. Can’t believe she is 14 months already!

Congrats on baby #3!

- kjc on

Jessica looks just like her mom, Kate, in the above picture-so pretty!

Congratulations to the happy family!

- Lisa on

Congrats to the whole family. Love her on Grey’s Anatomy!!!

- Jessica on

I’m so excited for this news! I’ll be curious to see if they write a pregnancy into the script, although I’m not sure how they would.

- Tee on

Interesting how their pregnancy is announced on the same day her husband’s company launches. Gross.

- catherine on

Tee- They could have Arizona decide she would like to carry a baby and give Sofia a sibling while getting to experience pregnancy too? She did warm up to the idea of having a baby.

But would she use Mark as the baby daddy? Hmmmm… Hahaha.

Anyways, a big congratulations to the entire family and here’s to a healthy new baby in 2012!

- Mandy on

Congrats! She looks just like her mom.

- Anne on

Her Mom is married to Steven Spielberg. I guess she keeps having babies because she knows they will be taken care of.

- Mikey M on

Mandy, that’s kind of what I was thinking. They have all fallen in love with Sofia, so I could see them giving her a brother or sister. I don’t think they would have Mark be the father, though. We’ll know soon enough!

- Tee on

Her mom is married to Steven Speilberg? Who is the one he dumped for his current wife?

- Jen on

Poor Shonda, yet another baby bump to hide during the taping of Grey’s Anatomy :-)

- Ainsley on

catherine- In this case I’m guessing it was just a coincidence. Jessica and her husband seem to be extremely private people and we rarely even see them, let alone their kids. Hardly the behavior of a publicity seeker!

That out of the way, congrats to them! I find it interesting that their first two are three years apart while their second and third will probably be less than two years apart (I say “probably” because she didn’t say a due date. But given the fact that most celebrities announce their pregnancies when they’re three or four months along, my guess is she’s due this summer). :)

- Anonymous on

Ainsley- You’re probably right. I doubt they’ll write her pregnancy into the storyline, considering that Grey’s “doesn’t do babies” (I remember reading that somewhere once.).

- Anonymous on

Shonda confirmed via Twitter that Jessica’s pregnancy will not be written in. There’s no need anyway, she’ll be at her biggest and be giving birth during Grey’s summer hiatus.

- Elise on

Wow, I cannot believe how much she looks like her mother! Gorgeous!

- Alison on

Jen,

I think the guy you are trying to think of is James Cameron. He left his wife, Linda Hamilton, for his current wife, Suzy Amis.

- Sara on

Sara, Steven Spielberg was married to Amy Irving before Kate Capshaw

- Renee on

Congrats to your beautiful family! Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy.

- Kat Adams on

I just wanted to comment on her mom, Kate Capshaw – she has been married to Spielberg since 1991, so it’s nothing new.

- Amit on

Anonymous – I think it’s pretty much a guarantee that the second and third children will be less than two years apart. Even if she were to conceive next week, her second and third would be just under two years apart. Eve is 14 months old. Women carrying full term are pregnant for just under ten months.

- Jessica on

@ Mikey M – What a strange thing to say.

- Hea on

Congrats! Big fan of hers on Greys! Would love to see Arizona and Callie with another baby.

Hea, my thoughts exactly! Weird…

- Jillian on

Jessica is just gorgeous! I am so happy for her, Chris, Luke and Eve. Excited to see what they have next :)

- Emily on

Congratulations Jessica, a beautiful blessing for your family!

I doubt they’d write her pregnancy into the show. Being a lesbian, Arizona (that’s her name, right?) wouldn’t get pregnant unexpectedly, so for it to be planned you would think we would have already heard rumblings about a second baby. She’s probably already far enough along to be starting to show for her to announce it, although I’m sure she told her bosses long before she told us, so I guess they could have written it in. But they’d pretty much have to be like, let’s have a baby! Okay! I’m pregnant! I never predict these things right. though. Has GA ever written a real-life pregnancy into the show? Calzona is the only couple I can think of with a baby, and Sara Ramirez wasn’t really pregnant.

- jennrae on

The only real life pregnancy Shonda has written in was Season 2 when Chandra Wilson (Bailey) was pregnant. She had Little Tuck. He hasn’t been seen on screen since like Season 4 or 5.

Congrats to Jessica and her family!

- CM on

Mikey M: or maybe because, I don’t know, Jessica and her husband can take care of them, maybe? You’re a weirdo.

"I've always wanted more children and [I] had to make a decision: Do I wait to find the right partner or do it on my own? I was open to either gender and started the process two years ago."
