It’s a boy!

Singer Jo Dee Messina and her husband Chris Deffenbaugh have welcomed their second son, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Jonah Christopher was born Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 2:43 p.m. in Nashville and weighed in at 6 lbs., 13 oz.

Big brother Noah Roger, 3, welcomed the new addition with open arms.

“Noah couldn’t wait to hold his little brother,” the country crooner, 41, says in a statement. “He’s so good with him. God has blessed us so much.”

Messina and Deffenbaugh, who wed in 2007, announced the pregnancy in October.

I’m sorry, who?

Heather Lynn on

Congrats to them! Jonah Christopher is a great name.

Great name, strong and good pairing with Noah. I think it’d be hard to find a good name fit with Deffenbaugh but they did a great job.

I absolutely love that name! Congratulations to them.

Awww!! on

Congrats to them both! I love both the names, have a Noah myself, but they rhyme too much when they’re together, Noah-Jonah. That will get mixed up alot in that house! Oh well, I’m sure the happy parents don’t care what I have to say, as well they shouldn’t!

Congrats Jo Dee!

@Beth. It says in the first paragraph that Jo Dee Messina is a singer. If you took the time to read the article before commenting, you would know that.

Aw, I love how both of their sons have Biblical names! Congratulations, Jo Dee!

Beth, Jo Dee is a country artist that was pretty popular several years back. She is most well known for her song “Bring on the Rain.”

Jo Dee is awesome. Saw her outdoors in Breckenridge a few years ago. Great show.

It’s a delight to read about a celebrity who announces the birth of their child with their husband. Does anyone else get tired of hearing about a birth or pregnancy being announced with their boyfriend, fiance, or someone they just hooked up with. Don’t get me wrong, a child is a blessing and a precious thing and the birth of a baby is something to be rejoiced. I think I’m just getting tired of all the irresponsibility.

Because EVERYONE knows who BETH is. She is so important. Loser.

Jo Dee is a wonderful country singer. I absolutely hate the “who?” posts. If you have the means to post on the internet, you have the means to google the person. Or at least read the article.

And with all the fake celebrities mentioned on the website, a successful hard working musician doesn’t deserve a crappy attitude like that.

Congrats to Jo and her hubby on a new addition. Love the names, refreshing to see two normal boy names from a celebrity.

Norma, it’s not always “irresponsibility”. Sometimes it’s a personal choice to not be married. Personal ie. not your concern. Why not leave it up to each individual family or person to decide for themselves?

Ranee on

Congrats to the whole family. Having met JoDee and her husband at several concerts and being a fan since 1996, I know she is the most amazing mother. She is the most down to earth person, I’m proud to have had the chance to meet her. Listen to her music bet you will be hooked. Happy for you all! congrats again

Norma- I get what you’re saying, but it’s not neccesary for parents to be married in order to give a good home to a child. A home with unmarried parents can be just as happy of a home as that of married parents. In fact, if you look just at Hollywood, some of the couples who have lasted the longest are those that aren’t married. Some examples include Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis (over 10 years), Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (seven years), and Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell (well over 20 years!).

And guess what? I’m actually rather old-fashioned when it comes to marriage (I believe marriage should come before sleeping together or cohabiting, let alone children!)! But I also realize that not everyone shares my beliefs and that’s fine. I can respect someone else’s decision without actually having to agree with it!

As far as Beth goes, I agree that she could have taken the time to read the post or googled Jo Dee, but I don’t think she deserves all the hatred that’s being thrown at her. She just asked a simple question. Maybe a bit of an ignorant question, but still an innocent question. Geesh people (the commentors here, not the magazine or the website!)!

That being said, congrats to Jo Dee, her husband, and Noah!

Beth, Jo Dee is a great country singer! She has had nine number one singles, including Bring on the Rain, Bye Bye, Lesson on Leavin’, and Heads Carolina.

Not only that, but she is a great person! After the May 22 tornado in Joplin, MO, she came to Pittsburg, KS (a small town about 25 miles from Joplin) and put on a benefit concert! All proceeds went to the tornado relief, and she even matched the donations!! It was a very low-key concert and she was very down-to-earth. She told stories of her life, talked with several members of the hurting community, and brought a lot of hope to an area that had been destroyed.

So, that being said, you now know a bit about who she is. So, congratulate her 🙂

@Carol: If I’m not mistaken, I believe she has already made a new album, but her record company is holding it up.

Love the name! But I am a little biased, as my nephew is Jonas Christopher! Congrats to them!
