Since adopting daughter Genesis in October, first-time mom Viola Davis is reveling in every moment of her most important and life-changing role yet.
“Becoming a mother has opened up my whole life and given me a whole new purpose,” Davis, 46, told PEOPLE at Thursday’s premiere of her new film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close in New York.
“I feel like a star at home only because she loves me so much. I mean, it’s a red carpet everyday. It’s wonderful!”

Growing up fast!
Garcelle Beauvais kneels between her 4-year-old twins, Jax Joseph and Jaid Thomas, during the Los Angeles premiere of Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 on Wednesday at the Staples Center.
“They started Pre-K and I was very emotional,” the Franklin & Bash star, 45, told PEOPLE earlier this fall.
“They were like, ‘Bye Mom!’ They were fine, more than happy to go and see the turtles and the bunnies. Unless I’m wearing bunny ears, there’s no competition.”
Jax and Jaid are Beauvais’s children with ex-husband Michael Nilon.
