Charlie Day, Mary Elizabeth Ellis Welcome Son Russell Wallace

It’s a boy for Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis!

The Always Sunny stars welcomed son Russell Wallace Day on Thursday, Dec. 15 in Los Angeles, they confirm to PEOPLE exclusively.

Weighing in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and measuring 21.5 inches long, Russell arrived at 7:59 p.m.

“We are overjoyed and overwhelmed at the amount of love that ushered our baby into the world,” Day, 35, and Ellis, 32, tell PEOPLE.

Their son draws his name from the family tree — Russell comes from Ellis’s side and also honors a departed friend, while Wallace comes from Day’s.

The Horrible Bosses star and Ellis, who recently guest-starred on New Girl, married in March 2006.

I find it so interesting that some of the funniest, most out-there comedians give their children such normal names. Jack Black has a Samuel and a Thomas. Adam Sandler has a Sadie (ok, Sunny is only kind of normal). There a couple of other examples I can’t think of off the top of my head. But, it’s just something I’ve noticed.
