Dierks Bentley: ‘I’m Really Happy’ Having Daughters

Dierks Bentley is a ladies man — and lovin’ it!

The country crooner and his wife Cassidy are parents to daughters Evelyn Day, 3, and Jordan Catherine, 10 months, and do not currently plan to expand their family any farther.

“We’re really happy with what we’ve got. My brother has three girls so I think I’ll stick with two, but you never know,” Bentley, 35, tells PARADE.

“Well, I’ve got two boys. I got Jake and George, my two dogs, and I’m good.”

Despite his dedication to his music and his work with the Wounded Warriors project, Bentley admits he never quite knew how fulfilling his world could be until he became a father.

“[Fatherhood] changes your life,” he admits. “It’s amazing to have that realness in your life because before that you tell yourself you’re really busy or life is crazy, but kids really give you a perspective of what’s important — and that’s family.”

And now, with his latest album due out early next year, Bentley has unintentionally channeled many of the emotions stirred up by fatherhood into his music.

“It changes your life and as a songwriter it feeds into your music, though I don’t try to write songs like that,” he shares, adding he prefers to pen songs that could be “interpreted in different ways” by his fans.

“There are songs on this record that I wrote with my daughter in mind, but they could be a love song, could be a spiritual song, all depends on how you listen to it.”

A big thumbs up to this guy. Happy that he’s happy that he has 2 girls.

he should be happy with two healthy children, and not make an issue and try to justify the fact he has two girls. seems to me there’s a sore spot.

Thank you, Dierks, for proving that not all men are desperate for sons (I hate that stereotype!)! 🙂

I know so many men who want daughters! My husband was one of them. He wanted a little daddy’s girl so much and he got her! She is now 18 months old.

I doubt he was the one making the issue… the media prob tried to make an issue and asked if he’d try for a boy.

That headline is misleading. He said he was happy with two children not happy to have daughters as opposed to sons.

Sky, read the parade article. That is not even close to what he said. People likes to twist words and stir up drama. Tacky. Very tacky.

In reading the article, the Parade article, a few things struck me. One…loved it! Two, he never said, I am really happy having daughters. All i read was, I am really happy being a father! Another thing. Why say they currently dont plan on expanding their family, when He said, “I think I will stick with two, but you never know.” to me that means anything is possible!! I find that when people tries to recreate an article from another magazine they twist the words, of course don’t use quotes to do so and lose credibility. Keep it classy like OK and Star!

Jillian- “I think I’ll stick with two,” sounds like he’s not currently planning to expand the family to me (while “but you never” know implies that he and his wife may change their minds at some point). 🙂
