La La Anthony’s Acting Coach: Her 4-Year-Old Son

Reality star-turned-actress La La Vazquez Anthony — who made her theater debut this month in the off-Broadway play Love, Loss and What I Wore — says the best prep for a show is a preschooler.
“I rehearse with [Kiyan], which is really funny,” says Anthony, 32, of her 4½-year-old son with husband Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks.
“I tell him, ‘Listen to Mommy tell this story and tell me what you think.’”
Anthony told reporters at the X-Rated Fusion Liqueur after party following Tuesday’s show that her little boy even feeds her lines.
“Today he said, ‘Mommy, my prom dress is powder blue and white,’” a line from her character’s monologue. “He thinks anything I say is so funny, he just laughs.”
Best friend Kim Kardashian also got a kick out of seeing Anthony on stage. “She just couldn’t believe it and afterwards they stood up cheering and Kris yelled ‘La La, you’re the man!’”
Along with Kim, young Kiyan has a host of celebrity babysitters including tennis star Serena Williams and singers Ciara and Kelly Rowland. The latter recently sent Kiyan a shiny new toy from her tour in Dubai.
“I called Kelly cracking up — you can’t buy a 4-year-old a real sword! But she’s not a mom yet, so she doesn’t understand.”
As for pal Kim and new husband Kris Humphries having a little one someday, Anthony thinks they should wait.
“[Kim] is going to be a great mom whenever she decides to do that, but I tell my friends enjoy what’s going on now,” she notes.
In the meantime, she offers a loaner. Jokes Anthony: “Kiyan is always ready, and she can take him off my hands.”
