Hilary Duff Thinks Baby On the Way Is a Boy

Hilary Duff‘s bets are on a baby boy!

Expecting her first child with husband Mike Comrie this winter, the singer/actress is convinced the couple will be welcoming a son.

“I don’t care what I get, but every time I think about it or dream about it, I see a boy,” Duff, 24, tells MTV News.

When it comes to her family and friends, however, the mother-to-be admits they’re all thinking pink.

“Everyone else says it’s a girl, but I think it’s a boy,” she says.

“I’d be happy with a girl, but my sister’s like, ‘You can’t keep saying that because then when it’s a girl, everyone’s gonna be like, ‘You really wanted a boy!'”

Although Duff “can already find out” the sex of the baby, she plans to make the big reveal a family affair.

“I want my mom and my sister to be there, but they’ve both been out of town,” she explains. “When they are both in the same city and we’re all there, then we’ll find out.”

Describing her pregnancy as “kind of boring,” Duff skipped the morning sickness and sailed through the first trimester.

“It’s been pretty easy, and I haven’t gotten sick at all, and I don’t have too many cravings,” the Devoted author shares. “It’s so different. It’s literally like an alien has taken over your body.”

For now the couple are concentrating on the name game, which has proved to be no easy feat, according to Duff.

“If we give the baby kind of a unique name, we need to give it a normal middle name in case it hates it and wants to fit in better and then maybe we just need to go totally traditional,” she contemplates.

“And we’re like, ‘How can we be naming it before we even see it?’ There’s so much to think about!”

I remember she said months ago she was having dreams of a boy. Sweetness. She is so cute! Hilary & Mike congrats.

Always liked her in everything she’s done. She looks great! I was absolutely certain my first was a girl, absolutely certain!! Out came a precious baby boy–what a shock! I decided then it was silly to think you “know” what you’re having, but very hard to ignore those games your mind plays!

Mother’s intuition, awww. I really like that dress with the hair style usually poofs are a pass for me but she looks regal and still fun.

I can’t believe she is having a baby! It still blows my mind that she is married and pregnant! I feel like she is still Lizzie Mcguire!

I remember having dream after dream after dream that my first baby was a boy. I was CONVINCED it was a boy because of all the dreams I had and my gut instinct…possibly along with my husband constantly telling me he was thinking it was a boy too…but when my daughter came I was shocked & beyond elated.

So, the dream theory doesn’t always work! At least not in my case! hee hee :)

I don’t know why but I feel like she really wants a girl and she trying to prepare herself for if she has a boy.

One of my friends had dreams of having a boy and kept saying how she had a feeling it would be a boy, she was almost 100% certain it was a boy, had boy names picked out and then found out she had a girl! She was shocked, happy, but still shocked since her whole pregnancy she was sure it would be a boy and was surprised that her gut feeling wasn’t correct, but hey those things happen.

I am undecided as far as Hilary goes, sometimes I think it will be a girl other times I think a boy, so we’ll find out eventually I guess…

I also sometimes forget she is pregnant, I still see her as little Lizzie Maguire who I grew up watching!

Sometimes the intuition is right and other times it is wrong.

I had a dream that I had gotten a positive pregnancy test. A few days later it was positive. Shortly after that I dreamed I had a girl with long curly hair. We found out at 12 weeks that it was most likely a girl, and it was confirmed at the 20 week ultrasound. When my daughter was born she had a full head of hair and it was curly! Sadly though my daughter was stillborn, but she was so perfect! I miss her everyday.

I know this doesn’t work for everyone, but its still fun guessing! I don’t think she’s setting herself up for disappointment either way. I think she will be happy just to have a beautiful baby.

I am happy for her and just like her when I was pregnant I automatically knew it was a boy.

I never once for a second thought about a girl, I dreamt only of boys and I had a name picked and everything.

The only time I even remotely thought about the possibility of a girl was my MIL and SIL going on and on about wanting a girl. I played with the idea of having a girl and the thought seemed so alien to me.

Of course had it turned out to be a girl I would have been just as happy but every fibre in my being said boy. At all my ultrasound appt the technicians kept saying do you want to know. I would say no not really I know I’m having a boy.

They were usually silent and sometimes I would see a smile. Needless to say come July 1st, 2010 at 10:15 after 3 pushes, out comes my lil 8lb 3oz baby boy!!!!

Is this picture recent? When is she due? She has no visible bump yet for someone due this winter! I’m quite jealous of that! It’s reminding of Gisele Bundchen and Nicole Kidman who both carried very small as well.

Catca, I think its because she’s in such good shape. Women who have very taught stomach muscles usually dont show much, especially with their first, because those muscles just dont give. She probably wont get big at all.

Halley, that theory is not really sound at all. I have always been very fit and thin with a VERY flat stomach. I was a long-distance runner.

When I got pregnant with my first, I got a HUGE belly. I got a HUGE belly with my second. And I am getting a HUGE belly again with my third. Fortunately, I always go back down, but it is annoying to see the Nicole Kidmans of the world with their mini bellys.

Everyone carries differently, and your build prior to pregnancy is not much of an indication. Most women in Hollywood are thin and fit before they get pregnant.

SadieA on

jeepers, it isn’t about how thin you are or how flat your stomach is, it’s about how strong and tight your abdominal muscles are. Strong abdominal muscles can hold up for a long time and a woman won’t show as early. This is also why a lot of women show quicker in subsequent pregnancies, because their abdominal muscles have been stretched out.

I don’t think Hilary will carry small the entire pregnancy though, simply because she doesn’t have the 4 foot long torso that Gisele and Nicole Kidman have lol.
