Eric Church Welcomes Son Boone McCoy

Michael Loccisano/Wireimage

It’s a boy for Eric Church!

The country crooner and wife Katherine welcomed their first child, son Boone McCoy, at 8:35 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 3.

Born in Nashville, Tenn., baby Boone weighed in at 7 lbs., 11 oz.

“Everybody always tells you what an awesome and unique experience being a parent is. Words can never do the feeling justice,” says the new dad.

“I am very thankful and blessed to have a healthy and happy baby boy and baby mama.”

“It will be interesting to see how this new chapter in our life manifests itself musically,” he adds. “I’ve always made music that was representative of real life. Life doesn’t get more real than having a newborn at home.”

The name isn’t my personal cup of tea but if you’re looking to name a down home country boy, Boone McCoy is pretty close to perfect.

A very country name-it fits! + just a technicality-they’re married…so “baby mama” doesn’t really fit….even though I’m sure he meant “mom + baby are happy + healthy”

Congrats to them!

The name Boone will always remind me of the show LOST! :)

The baby boy boom continues! I think this is the 12th boy in a row with no girl in between on the CBB! Crazy!!!

Mia, all your pluses and minuses make it difficult to understand what you are saying. But I think you are saying, since they are married, she cant be called a baby mama? Why not??, she is still the baby’s mama, so the name surely applies!! He can call her anything he sees fit!

- Jillian on

Do you pronounce the name as “boon” or as “boony”?

I find it interesting that all the comments here are positive while Kristin Davis’s story was full of negative and ignorant comments. Looks like white people having a biological child is perfectly acceptable. A white single woman adopting a black baby is choosing a much more difficult road, but they both are much better off for her having made that choice. Too bad people can’t be just as happy and supportive of her.

Congrats to the happy family too.

- Kelly on

Boone? Really?

- Jana on

That boy is gunna grow up to be one yummy country boy!!!
