It’s back to school for Garcelle Beauvais‘ twin sons Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph — and back to painful good-byes for the actress.

“They started Pre-K and I was very emotional,” the Franklin & Bash star, 44, told PEOPLE at Britax and Buick’s The Red CARpet Safety Event presented by SpokesMoms, held Sept. 10 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

“They were like, ‘Bye Mom!’ They were fine, more than happy to go and see the turtles and the bunnies. Unless I’m wearing bunny ears, there’s no competition.”

The boys are thriving in school, says Beauvais, and aren’t shy to show off their newly-acquired knowledge to their mama.

Scott Downie/Celebrity

It’s been a bittersweet ending to her pregnancy for Tori Spelling.

Although the actress is excited to welcome her third child with husband Dean McDermott next month, she is also savoring each second of this pregnancy – as it may be her last.

“I have mixed emotions. Now that it’s so far along, I’m over the hump … I’m excited to be there, to meet the baby, to not feel this way anymore, but I’m also a little sad,” Spelling, 38, tells PEOPLE at the Britax and Buick’s The Red CARpet Safety Event on Sept. 10 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

“We think we want more kids, but you never know what the possibility of that is … and it’s such an amazing experience that women are so privileged to be able to go through.”

Chef Domenica Catelli Helps Parents Get Kids to Eat Healthy

Courtesy Domenica Catelli

When her now-16-year-old daughter was born, chef Domenica Catelli saw firsthand how exposing her to a wide variety of foods helped her form a healthy eating habit later in life.

“She was my guinea pig,” she tells PEOPLE. “I really got to see how giving her access to different flavors at an early age, what that did to her palate. Children have the most taste buds they’re ever going to have in utero, so when they’re young, that’s the time to expose them to different flavors.”
