About chaz, I want my children to not be narrow minded, ignorant or just plain mean. It is important for my children to be respectful of everything and everyone. I tell them there are things in this world that no matter what type of education one receives we may never understand fully. I explained to them a long time ago when chaz was in his mother’s tummy his body became a female but his insides like his brain were actually male. They do understand that all of us share female and male hormones.
Even if you don’t agree with Chaz or others like him, you can explain your reasons in a loving and respectable way, without derogatory remarks.

Well said, Mary! I explained Chaz’ situation to my daughter like you did and her 7 year old reaction was ‘the world would be dull if everyone was the same, anyway’! There are much worse things going on in the world- terrorism, recession, natural disasters, pedophilia….

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
