Essence Atkins Expecting First Child

There’s a baby on the way for Essence Atkins.

The Are We There Yet? star, 39, and husband Jaime Mendez expect their first child on Christmas Day, they confirm to PEOPLE.

“Our gratitude is overwhelming to have found each other and adding a baby to our happy home is truly a dream come true,” the couple tells PEOPLE.

“We are both elated and humbled by this amazing gift.”

Atkins and Mendez, a sales/marketing executive and entrepreneur, met via Match.com and were married in Pasadena, Calif. in September 2009.

Spotted: Alicia Silverstone and Bear – True ‘Blu’

Taking a break from filming Gods Behaving Badly, new mom Alicia Silverstone snuggles up to her 3-month-old son, Bear Blu, on set Monday.

The baby boy is the first child for the actress, 34, and husband Christopher Jarecki.

The couple wed in June 2005 in Lake Tahoe after eight years together.

BumpWatch: Paul Stanley and Erin: Waiting for Baby

With their baby girl due this month, Paul Stanley and wife Erin treated daughter Sarah Brianna, 2½, to some solo time on Thursday in Beverly Hills.

The trio lunched at Sharky’s, where the tot came away from the meal with some balloons!

The latest addition to the family will also join Colin Michael, 4½, and Evan Shane, 17, Stanley’s son from a previous relationship.

“I may be 59,” the KISS guitarist says, “but the only rocking chair this rocker is getting ready for is the one for my new baby.”

“I want to be there for [Charlotte's] first day of school and her school recital,” the actress, 34, told PEOPLE of her daughter with husband Freddie Prinze, Jr.

“Television offers me that — they’re amazing at working around schedules. All of the big milestones I’m there for.”
