While I applaud parents for taking sun safety seriously I just wish I would see those same adults also wearing sun hats and taking sun safety as seriously for themselves as they do for their children!

My son HATES…HATES….HATES his sun hats. I’ve tried baseball caps, sun hats touques just about everything and he rips them off his head and throws them out the stroller.

Does that make me a bad parent when I see people staring at me in the hot sun and he is w/out a hat and clammering to look outside the stroller and not stay under the shade……????

WHo cares, I will just take the flack until he is old enough to learn he needs the hat. For now fighting with him is just stressful, that and Im sick of spending money on a new hat every week when they go flying and I dont realize till we get where we are going!

Dee, I don’t know how old your son is, but both of my kids were resistant to hats as babies and toddlers and now there’s no problem.

Just keep him in the shade as much as you can and don’t give up on the hats – put it on him at the start of your outing and give him an ultimatum – if you want to play in the park, you have to wear your hat. Take it off, and it’s back in the stroller.
