Jason Castro Welcomes Daughter Madeline Emilia

It’s time for singer-songwriter Jason Castro to brush up on his lullabies.

The American Idol alum and his wife Mandy welcomed a baby girl, Madeline Emilia Castro, on Sunday, Aug. 28, he confirms to PEOPLE.

In April, Castro shared on his website that he and his wife were expecting a baby, saying, “We just found out yesterday that it is going to be a girl! That makes me laugh … what am I going to do with a sweet little girl?! Probably just smile a lot … I cannot wait!!!”

This is the first child for the couple, who married in Jan. 2010.

How precious! Madeline was a name I was considering for my daughter, Amelia. I love it together. I like the more classic spelling (AMELIA) better, but it sounds great together. My Amelia (Mia unless she’s in trouble, lol) will be 4 in a few months. I hope it doesn’t get too popular either.
