What better way to beat the summer heat than with a trip to the shore?

But walking on the rocky surfaces and small pebbled beaches can take a toll on your little one’s precious feet — until now.

Perfect for the whole family, Fila‘s Skeletoes ($55) feature a four-toe design that allows your feet to comfortably maintain its natural shape while protecting your soles from rough terrain.

Each shoe is also equipped with an adjustable velcro strap to ensure a snug fit and rubber bottom for maximum grip.

And these cool sneaks aren’t just for the beach: They’re also ideal for biking, boating and walking.

Last time I counted, my son had 5 toes on each foot. With only 4 ‘toes’ on these shoes, which ones get smooshed in together?

The picture above was just taken at a weird angle. These shoes have 5 toes, the pic is just off. I check the Fila website.

Those are the ugliest things I have ever seen. I’m 16 and wouldn’t wear those even if I got paid. Sorry.

LOL. You can’t see the big toe slot, but it’s there.

I love my Vibram’s. I do my Turbo Jam workout in barefeet and wear the Vibram’s to run. I swear I haven’t had any foot or leg pain since I stopped wearing athletic shoes to work out. More and more studies are showing that shoes really ruin the feet.

This comment is in response to Michelle’s question – Fila Skele-toes combines the smallest two toes for ease of entry. The feature is called “EZ slide”. Don’t worry, your son’s toes will not be “smooshed in” as mentioned in your comment.

I bought some for me, although I have yet to try them out.

The article says: “Perfect for the whole family, Fila‘s Skeletoes ($45) feature a four-toe design”

Four toes? O_o

I think the two smallest toes are in the same compartment in these. With Vibrams (which have 5 toe spaces) the pinky toe is really hard to get in the first few times — I’m wondering if Fila combined the two smallest toe spaces to make it easier for kids to get on/off. Even for an adult, this type of shoe can be frustrating to put on!

I just couldn’t see wearing these everyday. I understand some runners like them, but without socks, I would think they would get a little stinky. Plus I have curly toes and for me, I don’t think they would be very comfortable.

I am intrigued. Only because I love walking around the house barefoot but we have too much concrete to run barefoot, and I notice the stiffness in my shoes compared to how I walk with better posture while barefoot. Two completely different sides of the spectrum but I am positive they’d be hard to get used to.
