Melanie Brown: I’m Only Buying the Basics for Baby

The finish line is in sight for Melanie Brown, who is expecting a baby with husband Stephen Belafonte.

“A couple of weeks!” an excited Brown, 36, told PEOPLE during Nancy O’Dell’s Creative Memories launch party, held Thursday at The Capital Grille in Los Angeles. “It would be nice to happen sooner rather than later.”

Sailing through her third pregnancy — Brown is already mom to daughters Phoenix, 12, and Angel, 4 — the songstress has kept any nesting tendencies to a minimum, including name choices and shopping sprees.

“I’m really so behind with all that stuff. With my other two, I just waited until they were born and [then I] sense what works and what doesn’t,” she explains, adding that the couple have opted for a delivery surprise.

Maya Rudolph Welcomes Son Jack

It’s a boy for Maya Rudolph.

The Bridesmaids star, 38, and director Paul Thomas Anderson welcomed their third child, son Jack, on Sunday, July 3, her rep tells PEOPLE.

Jack — who is home and doing great — joins big sisters Pearl, 5½, and Lucille, 20 months.

While pregnant, Rudolph said she was especially excited to discover the sex of the baby, which she and Anderson chose not to find out prior to the delivery.

“The exciting part is not knowing who’s coming,” she explained. “You have to wait nine months for a surprise, but then it’s a good payoff because it really is a surprise.”

Rudolph next appears in Up All Night, premiering this fall on NBC.

Spotted: Postpartum Kate Hudson Hits the Beach

Just over a week after welcoming baby boy Bingham Hawn into the world, new mom Kate Hudson enjoys a sandy afternoon with her other main men, son Ryder Russell, 7½, and fiancé Matthew Bellamy, in Malibu, Calif. on Monday.

“For those wondering, Bingham is my mum’s maiden name and Bing Russell was Kurt’s dad,” the Muse frontman explains. “Family connections all round!”

Hawn is, of course, in honor of the actress’s mother, Goldie Hawn.
