I am sure I am in the minority, but I kind of like the pink and blue striped blankets lol. I know they are ugly, but they are kind of iconic and symbolic to me, because I had one when I was born and it was my first real possession. I don’t have kids yet, but it doesn’t really matter to me that when I do, they will have a different blanket. I just think the blankets remind me of newborns, and I like that.

My husband was a “late-talker”, didn’t talk until after his 2nd birthday. He’s turned out fine. Excelled in school and now has a successful career. Even now he isn’t a big talker, “strong and silent” type (emphasis on silent!). But, he is a big reader (which would be my concern as a parent).

As long as the kid was hitting all their other milestones I wouldn’t be too worried if mine was a late talker.

Not worrying about your child’s speech delay is a bit of a double edged sword. Some kids are just late talkers & it’s nothing to be concerned about. I didn’t talk until I was almost 3 & I’m still not a big talker to this day. My daughter on the other hand has a severe case of developmental apraxia of speech & if we had just shrugged it off as a typical ‘late talker’ she’d be even farther behind in speech development than she already is.
