Update: The couple has chosen the name Cree Taylor Hardrict for their son, they tell PEOPLE.

Originally posted June 28: Special delivery for Tia Mowry!

The Game star, 32, and husband Cory Hardrict welcomed an 8 lb. son on Tuesday, June 28 in Los Angeles, her rep tells PEOPLE.

Mowry announced the pregnancy in January, telling PEOPLE she felt “sexy and empowered.”

Although baby has now arrived, Mowry’s pregnancy will be televised when she and her twin sister Tamera return to the airwaves on their new reality show, Tia & Tamera, premiering in August on the Style Network.

“I think she secretly thinks my son is her son too! I mean, twins share everything, right?” Mowry joked recently. “She is always kissing, rubbing, patting and hugging my belly.”

Mowry and Hardrict, also an actor, tied the knot in April 2008 in Santa Barbara.

momof 2 on

Love the name i have only herd the name once and it was a girl but i like it for a boy to

I like the name but not for a boy…its not a very strong or masculine name…Cree Taylor seems befitting for a girl.

Bree on

Cree is a Native American tribe that live in the Great Plains area. I think the name is great and maybe pays tribute to one or both of his parents heritage. I seriously considered Cheyenne for my daughter for that reason. Congrats to the happy family!

nelly on

LOVE THE NAME …..congrats to Tia and Cory

Barbra on

I love Native American names. Cree is a great name. Please assist, but wasn’t there an actress named Cree in the spinoff tv show of the Cosby Show called A Different World????

sarawara on

What a lovely name! Congratulations to them! I LOVE that she said that she secretly thinks Tamera thinks Cree is her baby! My sister and I also share very strong maternal feelings for each others kids.

Yes Barbra, you are right Cree Summer was on ‘A Different World’, she played the character “Freddie”

I love the name they chose 🙂

lyns on

OMG i love the name, congrats to them both……

J on

Bree — I believe you’re crossing the Cree and the Creek. The Cree were originally from Canada and the upper Eastern seaboard. The Creek were in the great plains. 🙂

Kristen on

@Barbara yes Cree Summer was on A Different World. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0838588/

Fete on

Congratulations! And what a fabulous name!

My daughter is 9 and her name is Cree! And I did get it from Cree Summer from Different World. If she had been a boy, she would have been named Creed:) When I told my daughter that Tia had a baby and gave him her name she said “wait, isn’t she a teenager?” Once a child star, always a child star.

Congratulations again Tia & Cory!

Crystal on

I’m not a fan of the name but I am very happy for Tia and Corey! Congrats again!

Jillian on

Eh, not a fan of it. Cree Taylor for a girl would be prettier. I still am not a huge fan of it. I wonder if it was after someone/something.

LoveCrazyBeautifulLife on

Congrats! Not crazy about the name though.

Lisa on

Great name for their son–I love it! Congratulations to the new parents.

brenda on

Congrats to the new parents i like the given name different

Amanda on

Who cares if people define it as a “boy” or “girl” name. As long as Mommy and Daddy like his name, then it’s all good!! Congrats on the new baby! And 8 lbs….. that’s a healthy little guy 🙂

Vicki on

This is my daughter’s name (Cree Isabell), GREAT NAME! She’s the strongest person I know!

Pat on

Not a fan of the name Cree Taylor. Never heard of it before. Shoulda gone with “Bob.”

Didi on

First name’s not TOO out there…and if he doesnt like it when he gets older, he can always go by his middle name “Taylor” 🙂

crittervet on

Great name! My little brother’s name is Cree! Finally a celebrity naming their child something NON-STUPID!

Lottie on

My congratulations to Tia and Cory! Cree is an interesting choice — I assume they’ll just pronounce it with a long “e” sound, but it’s spelled like a French participle meaning “created.”

Jillian on

soph, LOL!!!!

Lil on

Congrats!!! I love Tia and Tamera. I actually went to a taping of Sister Sister. I can’t wait to see their show this summer and watch Tia transition to motherhood. Different name, but love it!

FC on

Congrats to Tia and Corey on their son Cree. I think the name is cute, and I’m hoping to see the owner of the name, if possible. 😉

Lucy on

If little girls can be named Logan and Michael, then I figure a boy can be named Cree (never heard it for boy or girl). I’ll be more impressed when people start naming their boys Tiffany and Jennifer. That will be daring and truly gender bending.

Cree is actually a pretty cool name.

Anonymous on

I have never heard of this name. I think it would be cute for a girl, especially with the Taylor added on to it. And I have also never heard of a girl named Logan or a girl named Michael.

Kiesha on

Congrats to Tia and Cory. Can’t wait to see what their son looks like. That is a cute name.

librababe on

I like it a lot! Cree Hardrict is really handsome, and makes me think of a football player who writes poems on the side! lol

Sharon on

CONGRATULATIONS!!!My daughter’s name–15 yrs. old–is Cree. We LOVE the name.

brandi on

How is Cree a strange name? It actually means something.

Cat on

My 16-month-old son is Cree (yes, after the Cree Indians…and I first heard the name when I watched Cree Summer, who actually is part of the Cree tribe, in the 80s). I wonder why she chose the name. Congrats to her and her husband!
